Death threat to Chirag Paswan, FIR lodged at Cyber Crime Police Station
Patna, July 11 (UNI) An FIR (first information report) was lodged today at the local Cyber Crime Police Station after Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) National President Chirag Paswan received an alleged death threat.
LJP (Ram Vilas) Chief Spokesperson Rajesh Kumar alias Rajesh Bhatt said here that Chirag Paswan received a death threat through social media.
He informed that the threat was made via an Instagram account named Tiger Meraj Idrisi, targeting Paswan on the Instagram account of YouTuber-journalist Dakshapriya. The message on Instagram threatened to kill the minister by bombing him.
Bhatt said that such a threat reflects criminal tendencies and involvement in unlawful activities. Taking the matter seriously, he urged Police to act swiftly.
He demanded that the suspected criminal be arrested immediately and given the strictest possible punishment.
He added, 'This is not just an attack on a public representative and democracy but also a direct assault on Dalit leadership, which will not be tolerated.'
Bhatt also appealed to Union Home Minister Amit Shah to ensure the safety and security of Chirag Paswan.

No rationale behind hiking power tariff in Chandigarh, says MP Tewari
The member of parliament and former Union minister Manish Tewari on Sunday criticised the rising electricity bills and fixed charges in the UT. He called the rising electricity charges unjustified. Chandigarh MP Manish Tewari (HT File) MP Tewari was responding to the issues raised by the residents during a joint meeting held by the Joint Coordination Committee of the Resident Welfare Association (RWAs) of Ward Number 23 at Sector-43 Community Centre. MP Tewari said that he has been consistently raising Chandigarh-related matters in the parliament. He argued that since the power company has not undertaken any significant infrastructure upgrades or expansions, there is no rationale behind increasing electricity charges. He assured residents that he would strongly raise these concerns during the upcoming Joint Electricity Regulatory Commission (JERC) meeting scheduled for July 25. Chandigarh Congress president HS Lucky and area councillor Prem Lata were also present in the meeting. Lucky praised MP Tewari, saying that the city is fortunate to have a sincere and sensible representative who not only utilises his MPLADS for local development but also persistently voices public concerns in parliament and other forums. During the event, MP Tewari also honoured senior citizens of the ward with mementos as a mark of respect. The event was attended by several prominent personalities, including Chandigarh's senior deputy mayor Jasbir Bunty, deputy mayor Taruna Mehta, councillor Hardeep Singh, AAP Chandigarh president Vijay Paul Singh, former councillor Chandermukhi Sharma, CRAWFED president Hitesh Puri, FOSWAC president Baljinder Singh Bittu, and other residents including Naresh Salwan, Jaswinder Singh, and Narendra Chaudhary.

Monsoon Session: The Monsoon Session of Parliament is set to begin on Monday, July 21, and continue till August 21. The government has 17 items, tentatively, of legislative and other business to be taken up during this session. On the other hand, the Opposition parties are fired up and have a list of agendas of their own, including US President Donald Trump's repeated India-Pakistan ceasefire mediation claims and Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar. This is the first session since the Indian Armed Forces launched 'Operation Sindoor' on May 7 to avenge the gruesome terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam. Meanwhile, Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, following an all-party meeting on Sunday, called on both the ruling and Opposition parties to ensure the smooth functioning of Parliament. According to a release by the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, the meeting was attended by 54 Leaders from 40 political parties, including Ministers. The Opposition has pressed for a statement from Prime Minister Modi on the matter, and also wants a response to Trump's repeated claims of mediating peace between India and Pakistan. Another contentious issue expected to take centre stage is the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Moreover, the fatal Air India Ahmedabad crash led to the death of at least 274 people, including the passengers and the individuals on the ground. Opposition leaders have made it clear that they will not hold back from raising sensitive national issues. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to address the session before it officially begins. Additionally, Parliament is expected to debate a proposal for the removal of a High Court judge. Both Houses (Upper and Lower) will be adjourned on August 12, 2025, to reassemble on Monday, August 18, 2025, to facilitate Independence Day Celebrations.
