UP: STF, agencies to keep close watch on RO/ARO exam to ensure fair conduct
The exam will be held in all the 75 districts of the state on July 27 in a single shift from 9:30 am to 12:30 pm.
More than 10.76 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam for which 2,382 centres have been set up across the state.
Each district magistrate has been appointed as nodal officer to monitor all the arrangements and take quick decisions as and when needed, the statement said.
Officials said the STF has been specifically directed to monitor the sensitive exam centres identified prior to the test.
The state government has also issued strict instructions to track and monitor individuals with a history of disrupting the integrity of exams, including known cheating syndicates and repeat offenders, the statement said.
Those previously involved in exam-related crimes and currently out on bail will be kept under special surveillance, it said.
The STF will also keep a close watch on social media platforms, including open fora as well as private messaging apps like WhatsApp and Telegram, which are often exploited to spread rumours or coordinate illegal activities.
Dedicated teams will monitor coaching institutes during the exam period, and any suspicious activity will be immediately reported to the concerned agencies for quick action, the statement said.
Police forces will be deployed at every exam centre to maintain law and order and conduct strict frisking of candidates to ensure no banned items are carried inside.
Armed guards and senior officers will be present throughout the process – from taking the confidential exam papers out of the treasury to dispatching answer sheets after the exam.
If any candidate or person is found using unfair means during the exam, strict legal action will be taken under the relevant sections of law.
A senior officer will be appointed for seamless coordination between the agencies on the day of the exam, while the police commissioner, SSP and SP in every district will directly oversee the arrangements, the statement said. PTI ABN ARI

Six Kanwariyas killed, 24 injured in bus-truck collision
Deoghar: At least six Kanwariyas were killed and 24 others injured on Tuesday after a collision took place between a bus with devotees on board and a truck, loaded with cooking gas cylinders, in Jharkhand's Deoghar district, officials said. The accident occurred around 5.30 am near the Jamuniya forest under the Mohanpur Police Station limits when the bus collided with the commercial vehicle, they said. 'Six devotees were killed and 24 others injured in the accident at Jamuniya Chowk in Deoghar. Eight of the 24 injured have been shifted to AIIMS, Deoghar, while the remaining are undergoing treatment at Sadar Hospital,' Deoghar Deputy Commissioner Naman Priyesh Lakra said. Earlier, Inspector General (Dumka Zone) Shailendra Kumar Sinha told PTI that the accident occurred after the bus with Kanwariyas on board collided head-on with the truck transporting gas cylinders. Following the collision, the driver fell from the bus and the vehicle, without anyone behind the steering wheel, continued moving for some time and stopped after hitting a stack of bricks, the IG said. The bus was severely damaged, he added. However, MP Nishikant Dubey, in a post on X, claimed that 18 Kanwariyas lost their lives in the accident. 'Eighteen devotees have died in a bus-truck accident during the Kanwar Yatra in the month of Shravan in Deoghar in my Lok Sabha constituency. May Baba Baidyanath Ji give strength to their families to bear the loss,' he posted on X. However, the police confirmed that only six people lost their lives, while the condition of two others is serious. Kanwariyas are devotees of Lord Shiva. At least 24 Kanwariyas were injured in the accident and taken to various hospitals and nearby primary health centres, including the Saraiyahat PHC in Dumka, another officer said. Casualties may increase as the condition of several injured is serious, he added. The district administration has been alerted after the accident, he said. Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren condoled the death of the Kanwariyas and said a rescue operation was being conducted by the district administration there. 'Very sad news has been received about the deaths of devotees travelling in a bus in an accident near Jamuniya chowk in Mohanpur block of Deoghar.' 'The district administration is providing medical assistance to the injured with relief and rescue operations. May Baba Baidyanath grant peace to the souls of the devotees who died in the accident and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this moment of grief,' Soren posted on X. Jharkhand Governor Santosh Gangwar also expressed grief over the accident.

Family of Pahalgam terror attack victim finds solace following ‘Operation Mahadev'
Bengaluru: For the family of Bharath Bushan, who was killed in the Pahalgam attack, the news of the killing of the mastermind of the attack and his associates in 'Operation Mahadev' has brought a sense of relief. Bushan was among the 26 people killed in front of their families after confirming their religious identity in Pahalgam on April 22. Most of those killed by terrorists were tourists. Speaking to PTI videos on Tuesday, Bushan's father Chennaveerappa said the killing of his son in the terror attack was a 'very barbarous act'. The killing of terrorists has definitely brought some solace to the grieving families who lost their sons. Lauding the Modi government for its efforts, he said, 'Hereafter, I think the government should ensure that no terrorists enter our land and kill innocent people... This should not happen again and the government should make sure that military personnel are posted in such areas...' He said deploying army personnel at the tourist spot could have prevented the attack and 26 precious lives could have been saved. Calling for an end to cross-border terrorism, he said, 'The government should be alert and avoid cross border terrorism and they have to see that Pakistan learns a lesson in this regard. Of course Modi has done a good work. He killed terrorists... he informed the whole world that we are against terrorism.' Though Bushan's brother, Preetham, was relieved that the terrorists were eliminated, he lamented that nothing could bring his brother back. 'We are not going to get my brother back but I am very sure that the government and the armed forces have eliminated such evil people who would cause such kind of trauma for many other families so from that perspective, we are very happy that such kind of people who did brutal killing of innocent tourists have been eliminated,' he said.
