With new features like GameChat and Joy-Con 2 Controllers, players don't seem to be leaving their favorite console behind for a second. However, for that your device needs continuous juice. But should you use a third-party charger for that?
Nintendo Switch 2: Can you use a third-party charger to use your device?
There has been no official disclaimer from Nintendo about using any third-party charger for the Switch 2 as long as it meets the specific requirements: USB-C Power Delivery (PD) with 60 W of power (20V @3A).
However, fans across the community are facing some issues while using different chargers other than the original one. Recently a Reddit user named UhhBirb shared his experience through a post on the official NintendoSwitch subreddit.
This user claimed that using a third-party charger can increase the power-consumption by 25% while docked into playing a game (not charging). He then went on to compare the power going into the device with two separate chargers - the original one and a third-party charger.
He then concluded that the increased power is lost as heat.
He also explained that this power increase might not be harmful for Switch 2 as the dock regulates the voltage, but can damage the dock itself. He also found out that third-party chargers generally charge with low voltage output. At the end, he advised everyone to compare the voltage and wattage output of a third-party charger, because there are many available options out there.

So, what's the answer? Should you use it? Many fans in that post opposed this as they never faced such an issue despite using third-party chargers. However, it is always safe to use the original one, and using it shouldn't be a problem because it comes in the box and you don't need to buy it separately.

Indian student from tier-3 college rejects US company offer over one condition: ‘It bothered me'

A student from a 'tier 3' college in India has revealed that he turned down an offer from a US-based company due to one demand they had. In a post shared on Reddit, the student revealed that his would-be employers expected him to keep his camera on during work hours - a thing he refused to do. An Indian student explains why he turned down an offer from a US company. However, after turning down the offer, the student began to have second thoughts and turned to Reddit for advice. 'Recently received an offer from a US based company (most of them are Indian and settled in the US). They were offering me a full stack developer intern role and after that a full-time role,' the student wrote. He said that the company offered him a stipend of INR 25,000 to start with, but later agreed to increase that to ₹ 35,000 to 40,000 per month. They also promised a conversion to a full-time role at a salary of more than ₹ 12 lakh per annum after the completion of the internship. The company also stipulated that he would have to work during US office hours. The student agreed readily to this demand. However, the company's next demand left him nonplussed and eventually led to him rejecting the offer. Company's condition for intern The company further stipulated that the intern must keep his camera on at all times while working. 'The next thing they said was you have to stay in the meeting during working hours and your camera should be on. This is something which bothered me. I tried to convince them on the meeting part but they didn't agree,' the student explained. Unhappy with this demand, the student finally said no to the offer. However, he later began to question his own decision when seniors and friends told him he was unlikely to land such a good offer again. 'But after asking everyone, now some friends and seniors are saying I should accept the offer as I come from tier 3 college and getting such kind of offers is difficult for me. Did I make the right choice? Or I am gonna regret this?' he asked Reddit. Reddit replies The query left Reddit users divided, with some saying he made the right choice and others advising him to take up the offer. 'I think you've done the right thing. This camera on part is really weird,' wrote one Reddit user. 'It's a choice. Some Indian companies have started doing this weirdly which is just a power trip for the idiot manager. If you have options, don't join them. If not, join them, make your money and leave them as soon as you can. They are not for long term employment,' another advised. 'Camera on at all times means you will work as a slave. I think their productivity metric measurement is off,' a third Reddit user added.

Man with ₹50 LPA package laid off from US startup struggles to land job despite experience: 'I'm lost'

A man has turned to Reddit to share his job hunt struggles after being laid off from a US-based startup, citing that his unusually high salary, negotiated during the Covid-19 boom, has now become a major obstacle in securing new employment. Laid off from a US startup, a man shared how his ₹ 50 LPA pay became a hurdle in job hunts.(Representational image/Unsplash) (Also read: 'I think people severely underestimate India': US founder praises India's booming startup scene) The user, going by the handle @Pristine-Safety2462, posted in a career advice forum with the title: 'Just got laid off from a US based startup. My CTC is way higher than Indian benchmarks. Am I completely screwed?' In his detailed post, he explained, 'Hey Guys, need some advice on what can I do now. So I joined a startup during COVID days. Negotiated a high CTC (50 LPA), with 4 years of experience. But the startup wasn't doing well in the last year or so, and finally got laid off last week.' He added that although he now has eight years of consulting experience in the SaaS/IT space, recruiters are hesitant once they hear his current package. 'I know I can't expect this much (since I'm non-IIT/IIM and not a coder) but it doesn't seem to matter. I have been telling recruiters that I am open to taking a pay cut, but no one has shown interest so far.' Despite actively applying for roles over the past six months, he claims there has been 'no interest beyond the first call so far.' His main concern now is whether disclosing a lower CTC upfront could backfire during the hiring process. 'If I mention a lower CTC during initial calls, wouldn't it just come up when I share my payslips and offer letter? I'm lost.' Check out the post here: Comments offer mixed suggestions The post received mixed responses from other Reddit users, reflecting a shared sentiment around job market challenges and compensation expectations. One Redditor commented, 'They're afraid you'll keep looking after accepting their offer and then bail. You should clarify that you're aware your CTC was inflated and you're committed. Even offer a 2-year bond if necessary.' Another user advised, 'Never say your pay was above your value. That was the price of risk during Covid. But yes, a bond could help ease employer concerns.' Some highlighted the ongoing correction of Covid-era salaries. 'Take a max of 10-15% cut,' one person suggested, while another added, 'I've met 15 people making 50-60 LPA, and only three were IITians.' (Also read: 'Complete breakdown during video call': Bengaluru man hospitalised after CEO's brutal outburst) A different user suggested a temporary solution: 'What you need is a stopgap employment — a friend, uncle, someone who can offer a short-term job just to normalise your CTC. Then jump.' Another echoed, 'Work via references and network for your job. That works much better.' Meanwhile, a final user noted, 'You're telling us you didn't get any increment during your four years at the startup — that could raise doubts too.'

Microsoft Updates Xbox 360 Dashboard After 20 Years — With a Nudge Toward Newer Consoles

Nearly 20 years after its original debut, the Xbox 360 has received a surprise dashboard update—one that fixes a persistent UI bug but also subtly encourages users to consider newer consoles. Earlier this week, longtime Xbox 360 users were met with a redesigned home screen that finally addressed a glitch affecting game thumbnails and box art, which appeared stretched or distorted following last year's store shutdown. The visual issue has now been resolved, much to the relief of fans still booting up the beloved system. However, the update also brought a new, unexpected addition: ads promoting the Xbox Series X and Series S. According to posts on Reddit and confirmations from outlets like Kotaku and TrueAchievements, the updated dashboard now prominently displays two types of promotional banners—one showing images of the current-gen consoles, and another featuring a QR code with the message, 'Experience next gen performance.' The ads themselves are static and not interactive via the console. Users must scan the QR code with a mobile device to be redirected to the Xbox website, where they're further prompted to upgrade. Microsoft's last significant Xbox 360 update came in July 2024, shortly after the company officially closed the Xbox 360 online store. That update removed outdated tiles but inadvertently introduced the now-fixed image distortion bug. Despite its age, the Xbox 360 continues to hold a nostalgic and marketable value. Since its launch in 2005, it has remained Microsoft's top-selling console with approximately 84 million units sold globally. The system continued to be especially popular in regions such as Mexico, even after newer generations were released. Microsoft's sustained support of the Xbox 360—including updates like this one—shows its enduring legacy. Yet, with ads for modern hardware now greeting users on the home screen, the message is clear: the future of Xbox is already here.
