Is the best Caitlin Clark rookie card going to sell this month?
It looks like Goldin got their hands on the Immaculate Caitlin Clark 1/1 RPA and it's now up for auction. The record for the highest recorded price tag for a Caitlin Clark RC is a whopping $366,000, also sold by Goldin. This card is going to break that record, I'm sure of it. Advertisement And when it does I'll tip my hat to the seller of the card and still seethe with massive amounts of hate for Panini for that dutch auction garbage move they pulled. It still bothers me. Like, a lot of people got Allisa Pili cards out of a $3,000 box and she just got waived by the team that drafted her less than two years ago. With that out of the way, here's what I'm looking to scoop up these days: I feel like one of the most underrated cards out there right now is a Roger Federer autograph card. There are so few authentic autos out there - tennis missed the junk era - and he's essentially the Tom Brady of tennis; not that I'm saying he's Tom Brady popular, but how are we letting autograph cards from arguably the greatest men's tennis player ever go for under $300? In fact his 'true' autos are so rare that it actually has me going 'Ooh, awesome, there's a Leaf one for sale on eBay!' How about Junior Caminero? He's 21 years old and is a top-10 power hitter in baseball right now. I feel like maybe the fact that he's trapped in Tampa might hurt his cause but when he signs a $200 million dollar contract with the Red Sox at some point … you see what I'm getting at? Advertisement Napheesa Collier rookies and autos. While everyone is stumbling over their own feet trying to grab Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese rookie autos and stocking up on Sophie Cunningham cards, the best player in the league, Collier, is getting very little attention from collectors - comparatively, of course. Collier also doesn't have a 'true' rookie auto so you'd have to settle for 'Authentic' rookie autos or pay up for one of her 2020 Prizm autos. Still, hard to look at how the WNBA is shaping up in the collectibles space and feel like Collier isn't someone worth grabbing. With football season just around a very long corner, while everyone is scooping up their favorite 'investment' quarterback, should we be looking at buying the odds-on-favorite for both Defensive Player of the Year and Comeback Player of the Year - Aidan Hutchinson? Speaking of favorites to win awards; newly named head coach of the New England Patriots Mike Vrabel is sitting at 6:1 odds to win Coach of the Year. I know he has quite a few autos on the market but you could get a Vrabel auto for under $20 on eBay right now. What cards are you after? As always, tell us over on Mantel. Controversial hot take alert, maybe? As the MLB Draft just passed us by, I want to remind you that 99% of the time 'prospecting' doesn't work out. At least not in the long run. In the accelerated timeline that top-tier prospects are seeing these days, the distance between their 1st Bowman and first RC are very, very short. The build in anticipation has lost its momentum. Advertisement It used to be that you would get a 1st Bowman, the prospect would then run up numbers in the minors for years and the 1st Bowman was the peak of the prospecting iceberg. Now, you're getting a 1st Bowman and literally before you know it that prospect is getting a rookie card if not in Series 1 then more than likely in Series 2. There's very little time to marinate. Just remember this new reality when Topps starts to dangle the release of Bowman Draft. That said, who are we prospecting? I need names! Head over to Mantel and drop your wish list for me, please. This is awesome. Like, really, really awesome. There's lots of buzz around sports card vending machines showing up at airports — as if we needed another thing at the airport to disappoint us. Are we on the precipice of a run on bobbleheads? Or did I already miss the run? It's crazy to think that people are waiting hours in line to get them while also not crazy, at the same time. People not that long ago used to wait in line to get one blaster box from Target in hopes of getting a base rookie Prizm card that has a print run of one for every-man-woman-and-child-around-the-world. Advertisement An Aaron Judge bobblehead with a run of 18,000 [and the requirement of being at Yankee stadium on a certain day, which makes it more of a challenge, tbh] actually doesn't sound so crazy as an investment piece. How many 'error coins' do you think you've unknowingly had tucked between the couch cushions over the span of your lifetime? I can get behind 'error coins' more than I can Charizard Cheetos - but honestly I am way too lazy to check every coin for a 'die cap' error. And check the centering? Are you insane?! Finally, in some (clears throat) disturbing news: Shout out to this gentleman who collected over 21,000 Do Not Disturb signs from different hotels from around the world. It is said to be the largest collection of Do Not Disturb signs ever assembled. Happy to take your word on that, champ. As one commenter in this Instagram post points out: 'Isn't that theft?' Hey, if you don't want Edoardo to steal the signs then don't make them look so damn cool.

LSU baseball slugger Jared Jones drafted by Pittsburgh Pirates
With the 263rd pick in the 2025 MLB Draft, the Pittsburgh Pirates select Jared Jones! @bearjones_3 | @Pirates LSU baseball slugger Jared Jones learned his professional home on Monday. The Pittsburgh Pirates selected him in the ninth round with the No. 263 pick on Monday. Jones was a top-150 prospect entering the 2025 season. He had a chance to go pro last year, but elected to return to LSU. An up and down junior year hurt Jones' draft stock, but he remained productive, and the raw power is there. Jones finished 2025 with .323 batting average, a .613 slugging, 22 home runs, and 76 RBI. He's not much of a runner, but he still managed to steal five bases and score 66 runs. He came through in big moments for the Tigers during the NCAA Tournament, delivering clutch hits when the team needed him most. That included a walk-off vs. Arkansas to send LSU to the College World Series final. That hit will go down as one of the most memorable in LSU history. Through three seasons at LSU, Jones amassed 189 appearances. As a freshman, he was a part of the 2023 national championship team, then developed into a powerful slugger by 2024. He hit 28 homers and commanded attention from professional scouts before returning for another year in Baton Rouge.

Peyton Manning Has Clear Advice for Arch Manning As He Gears Up To Lead Texas
Peyton Manning Has Clear Advice for Arch Manning As He Gears Up To Lead Texas originally appeared on Athlon Sports. Without the ability to take the field and show everyone what he can do, the sports world is left with speculating about what will come for Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning. Advertisement Manning and his famous football family are coming off their lauded Manning Passing Academy, which took place this past weekend. The four-day camp invites quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends to learn from a cavalcade of college signal-callers who act as camp counselors to tutor the next generation of gridiron athletes. On Monday, Arch's uncle, Peyton Manning, appeared on ESPN's "The Pat McAfee Show" to discuss this year's camp and his young nephew, who acted as a counselor alongside several of college football's top quarterbacks, including South Carolina's LaNorris Sellers and Texas A&M's Marcel Reed. Advertisement When discussing Arch's "moxie," a word used by McAfee to describe the young Manning, Peyton offered a word of advice on how to channel that energy into success this season. "Like all quarterbacks, we've got to be able to throw from the pocket first and throw it on time and not take a lot of hits. So that's what we talked about with all of them (at the Manning Passing Academy). Know your system, know your answers. But when it's time to make a play, go out there and make a play with your legs, so I think he understands that." Texas Longhorns quarterback Arch Manning© Ricardo B. Brazziell/American-Statesman / USA TODAY NETWORK via Imagn Images Arch Manning, the No. 1 player in the Class of 2023, redshirted his first year in Austin, Texas. In limited action last season, he played in 10 games, starting two. He finished the year with 939 passing yards and nine touchdowns, two interceptions, as well as 108 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns. Advertisement Manning will have the spotlight on him throughout the 2025 college football season, and it may be shining brightest in Week 1 when the Longhorns travel to Columbus, Ohio, to play Ohio State on Aug. 30 at noon ET.
