Man in life-threatening condition, 3 arrested after shooting in downtown Toronto

A man was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries and three people have been arrested after a shooting in downtown Toronto, police say.
Officers responded to the sound of gunshots near John Street and Adelaide Street W. around 10:30 p.m., Toronto police said in a post on X.
When they arrived, they found a man in his 30s who had been shot.
The suspects fled in a vehicle, police said, but three people were later arrested.
The victim was taken to hospital where his injuries were found to be life-threatening. A police spokesperson said his condition had not changed as of 8 a.m. Sunday.
Group was fighting before shots fired, witness says
Chris Kim, who works at a restaurant in the area, said he was standing across from a group of around six men who were fighting in the middle of a road late Saturday.
He said he saw one man pull out his gun and fired several shots at another man.
Kim said he ran away and called the police.
He said patios on either side of the road were full at the time of the shooting, but everyone ran away at the sound of gunshots.
"The next day, its like nothing happened. Everyone's back on the streets, back to work," he said.
Another witness, Florian Potra, said he was also working at a restaurant patio in the area when he heard two loud shots.
He said he saw a number of people running south on John Street, while everyone on the patio ducked after hearing the sound, Potrin said.
"It was crazy loud," he said. "Nobody reacted right away because we thought it was a blown tire at first, until people started running."
Around five more shots then rang out, he said.
Police were in the area within minutes of the shots, he said.
Police say the investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact investigators.
Roads were closed in the area for several hours overnight but have since reopened.
