HBL PSL X kicks off in style with star-studded opening ceremony in Rawalpindi
The atmosphere at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is electrified as the glittering opening ceremony of the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) unfolds, drawing a vibrant crowd of fans. This marks the first time Rawalpindi hosts the opening match of the league.
The ceremony kicked off with children clad in white and green suits, singing Pakistan's national anthem, as the franchise owners gathered on stage alongside the coveted PSL trophy.
The event seamlessly transitioned into a soulful display of Sufism, with renowned artist Abida Parveen delivering a captivating performance, while dancers performed traditional moves.
Later, the Young Stunners lit up the stage with a high-octane performance, dropping beats that had the crowd on their feet.
The energy soared as Ali Zafar took over in his signature style, sending waves of excitement through the stadium as fans sang along to his chart-topping hits. Zafar, Natasha Baig and Abrarul Haq also performed the HBL PSL X anthem, which charged the crowd.
After the ceremony, three-time champions Islamabad United will face off against the two-time trophy winners Lahore Qalandars in the much-anticipated opening match.
The six competing teams will battle for a $500,000 prize for the winners, while the runners-up will receive $200,000.
Lahore's newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium will host 13 matches, including the Qualifier, Eliminator, and the May 18 final.
Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is set to stage 11 matches, while Multan and Karachi stadiums will each feature five games during the season.

'We are not only offering playing opportunities but also building cricket infrastructure across the province.' The exchange program is the latest in a series of grassroots initiatives launched by Zalmi and the Zalmi Foundation, including the Zalmi Madrasa League, School League, Azadi Cup, and Media League. Dhande Fighters achieved their first victory after failing in their first three matches by defeating the strong opponent team Wada Hunters by 56 runs in an exciting match in the ongoing Khatri Premier league Floodlight T-20 cricket tournament here on Sunday at historic Asghar Ali Shah Stadium Karachi. Thanks to the brilliant and aggressive century of Mirza Saad Baig, captain of the Pakistan Under-19 team and talented wicketkeeper-batsman representing Karachi Kings in HBL PSL X. At the end of the match, chief guest Usman Rajkot and Muhammad Suleman (Guddu Pakwan) presented the Man of the Match trophy along with a cash award of Rs 2000 to Mirza Saad Baig for his match-winning all-round performance of 106 runs and taking 3-10. Dhande Fighters captain Muzamil Sonija won the toss and batted first and the winning team scored 186 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. Pakistan U-19 team captain Mirza Saad Baig batted aggressively and played attractive strokes towards the edges of the ground and scored a brilliant century of 106 off 54 balls with the help of seven powerful fours and nine towering sixes. In reply, the entire Wada Hunters team returned to the pavilion after scoring 130 runs in 17.3 overs ahead of the devastating bowling of Mirza Saad Baig and Zubair Ali Kachi. Moeen Ali Kachi batted well and scored a 40 runs off 23 balls with the help of three fours and three sixes, Shahryar Ghani scored 37 runs off 26 balls with two fours and two sixes, while Shoaib Sonija scored 19 runs. Sonija Soldier will take on Bachhra Warriors at 10 pm today.
