
Arab Health Returns for 50th Edition in Dubai
Running from January 27 to 30, the event is the largest healthcare exhibition in the Middle East, bringing together over 3,800 exhibitors and an anticipated 60,000 visitors under the theme, 'Where the World of Healthcare Meets.'
Sheikh Ahmed praised the event's evolution over five decades, highlighting its pivotal role in transforming the healthcare sector globally. 'Arab Health reflects Dubai's vision of building innovative and sustainable health systems through international collaboration,'
he said, underscoring the emirate's growing status as a global hub for advancing vital industries.
The exhibition features cutting-edge healthcare innovations, with highlights including the newly launched Eco-Sphere feature, which opened with the Healthcare ESG Forum addressing climate change and sustainable healthcare practices. The Lakers and UCLA Health Experience also debuted, offering attendees the chance to meet basketball legends Robert Horry and Michael Cooper while exploring insights from UCLA Health's sports medicine team.
Additionally, 10 CME-accredited conferences commenced, including the Total Radiology Conference, Emergency Medicine and Critical Care Conference, and Public Health Conference. The event also features the Transformation Zone, Future Health Summit, and extended Arab Health Village, fostering networking and collaboration.
Supported by key government entities, Arab Health 2025 reaffirms Dubai's leadership in driving innovation, sustainability, and global partnerships in healthcare.

Egypt, Novartis explore expanding collaboration in oncology, cardiology
Egypt - Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairperson of Egypt's General Authority for Healthcare and supervisor of the Universal Health Insurance Project, met on Sunday with Gehan El-Emary, Chairperson and Managing Director of Novartis Egypt, to follow up on the progress of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in February. The MoU, which aims to enhance cancer care, broaden cardiology collaboration, and promote medical training, has seen significant developments, according to an official statement from the Authority. El-Sobky highlighted the authority's goal to transform the Aswan Oncology Center into a leading regional and research hub for cancer treatment, with the involvement of international partners, including Novartis. During the meeting, El-Sobky extended a formal invitation to Novartis officials to visit the center and explore potential areas for further collaboration on-site. The meeting also focused on efforts to modernize clinical protocols for heart disease and breast cancer, alongside expanding training programs for healthcare providers in line with global best practices. El-Sobky emphasized the importance of increasing the number of physicians benefiting from these programs in partnership with Novartis to strengthen healthcare delivery across Egypt. In addition, the two sides discussed the possibility of launching a certified digital training platform designed to equip family doctors with the tools and skills necessary to manage non-communicable diseases such as hypertension, diabetes, and chronic heart conditions. They also explored innovative strategies to raise public health awareness and ensure continuity of care in underserved areas. Gehan El-Emary expressed pride in the growing partnership between Novartis and the General Authority for Healthcare, noting the tangible successes achieved through their joint initiatives. She reaffirmed Novartis's ongoing commitment to expanding its collaboration with the Authority, particularly in the areas of early detection, cancer care, cardiology, and chronic disease management.

Abu Dhabi DoE launches summer safety warning
Abu Dhabi authorities have issued a summer safety warning over electrical and gas appliances as well as air conditioning equipment. The Abu Dhabi Department of Energy (DoE) has launched a new awareness campaign titled 'Your Safety is Our Priority' to promote safe and responsible energy consumption across the emirate. The campaign aims to educate both individuals and businesses on preventing electricity and gas-related risks, especially during peak usage months. Abu Dhabi summer safety Designed to reach a wide audience, the campaign will feature digital awareness content, educational workshops, and on-site visits in partnership with public and private sector entities. The initiative reflects the DoE's commitment to community safety and sustainable energy use, aligning with Abu Dhabi's broader energy strategy. Ahmed Alsayed Mohamed Sheebani, Executive Director of the Regulatory Affairs Petroleum Products Sector at the DoE, said: 'Safety in the use of energy sources is one of the fundamental pillars of our regulatory framework. Through this campaign, we aim to enhance community awareness of best practices, and encourage safer, more sustainable behaviour in energy use, aligned with Abu Dhabi's vision to build an efficient and secure energy sector that serves both people and the environment. 'Our part, at the Department of Energy, is to foster a safe and sustainable environment in the emirate through sustained outreach and education. 'The Your Safety is Our Priority campaign is a clear manifestation of our duty to enhance a culture of safety, and to affirm that the conscious and responsible utilisation of energy is a joint responsibility between regulatory authorities and society. 'Prevention is rooted in community awareness. Therefore, this campaign was conceived to connect with people through straightforward language and actionable content that aids in reducing accidents and encourages the sustainable consumption of energy.' The Pan Arab Anesthesia Conference 2025 opened today at the Movenpick Grand Al Bustan Dubai, drawing more than 500 healthcare professionals from over 15 countries in a landmark event for the region's medical community. Bringing together anesthesiologists, intensivists, pain specialists, and allied healthcare providers, the conference serves as a major regional platform for scientific exchange, professional development, and interdisciplinary collaboration in anesthesia, critical care, and pain management.
