Rinku Singh
is likely to join the basic education department as an officer in his home state Uttar Pradesh. The Yogi government has initiated the process to appoint him to the post of District Basic Education Officer (BSA).
An order regarding this has been issued, and the basic education department has started preparations, said a highly placed source.
Rinku Singh will be appointed under the International Medal Winner Direct Recruitment Rules 2022, which honors athletes who bring glory to the country at the international level by offering them positions in government services.
Rinku, who hails from Aligarh, recently got engaged to SP MP Priya Saroj. He is currently busy with domestic cricket. TNN

According to a ETV Bharat report, Rinku failed in the ninth grade and didn't study after that. Instead he gave his all for cricket. A BSA acts as a government's representative in the area of basic education and works as a district level. It is a Group B (Gazetted) post and is common in all the state governments. Candidates, who fall in the age bracket of 21 to 40 years in the year of examination, are eligible for the post of a BSA. The basic education required for the post of BSA is graduation in any discipline from any recognised university or institution. The candidates for the post of a BSA are selected by State Public Service Commission (State PSCs) of the concerned state. Despite not having educational qualification by his side, Rinku was appointed as a BSA on under the International Medal Winner Direct Recruitment Rules 2022. Rinku's involvement in the gold medal-winning triumphant Indian cricket team at the 2022 Asian Games, makes him eligible under the scheme. According to a News18 report, Rinku might draw a salary of around ₹ 56000 per month, which may increase with experience and annual increments. Additionally, he will receive 46% Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, Travel Allowance, and several other benefits.

Seven sportspersons to join UP govt as officers in key depts
Lucknow: Star cricketer Rinku Singh , hockey player Rajkumar Pal , shot putter Kiran Baliyan and four other national and international level sports players are set to join the UP govt in various posts. Rinku will be appointed as basic education officer, Rajkumar as a deputy superintendent in the police department and Kiran as a regional forest officer, said a govt order issued by the principal secretary, sports and youth welfare department, Maneesh Chauhan. Four other sportspersons — para athlete Praveen Kumar, Ajit Singh, Simran and Preeti Pal — have also been given govt positions. While Praveen has been appointed as a deputy superintendent in the police department, Ajit and Simran have been recruited as panchayati raj officers. Preeti will work as a block development officer under the urban development department. Chauhan told TOI that the govt has reserved certain positions in various departments for sportspersons of national and international repute. "These sportspersons were selected through a committee headed by the chief secretary. All these players have won a medal in the Olympic or Asian Games. They have brought glory to the state and the nation, for which the govt is honouring them by giving them various positions," he added. He said, "The order was issued sometime back, and now the departments concerned are issuing appointment letters to these sportspersons." According to the order, these sportspersons will be given seven years of time to meet the minimum education qualification required for their jobs.
