Final selection list for state forest service exam 2024 out

Indore: Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission (MPPSC) released the final selection list for the State Forest Service Examination 2024 in Indore on Friday. The results ended the long wait for aspirants who appeared for the Assistant Forest Conservator position. The commission conducted interviews for a total of 14 posts and released the final list for thirteen posts. The main selection list contains the names of twelve candidates, while a supplementary list includes nine additional names. The selection process began with the preliminary examination on June 23, 2023, followed by the main examination on October 6, 2023. The commission declared the main examination results on November 26. Based on the results, the commission shortlisted 45 candidates from approximately 235 who appeared in the main exam and called them for interviews on March 11, 2024. Candidates waited for the final results since the interviews because the selection for these prestigious posts under the forest department was delayed for several months. The release of the final list brings relief and clarity to the selected candidates and marks the culmination of the rigorous examination process. TNN

Gorakhpur: A 17-year-old social media content creator was allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted by a video blogger during a shoot at a club in Gorakhpur's Khorabar area. The incident, which occurred on the evening of June 12, same to light after the girl's family filed a police complaint on June 19, police said. Police have arrested the main accused and sent him to jail on Thursday evening. The teenager used to create short videos for Instagram and YouTube. She had reportedly gone to the club with the accused, a resident of Raptinagar, for a video shoot scheduled between 6pm and 9pm. Two friends of the accused were also present during the shoot. According to the girl's statement, after the shoot concluded, the accused offered her a cold drink which was allegedly laced with sedatives. After consuming it, the girl lost consciousness. The accused then took her to a room and sexually assaulted her between 10pm and midnight, said the girl. The girl's father lodged a complaint at Khorabar police station on June 19. CO Cantt Yogendra Singh stated that the main accused has been arrested and sent to judicial custody. The role of other youths involved in the incident is also being investigated. Keeping in mind the child's rights, the survivor is being provided with mental health support through the Women's Help Desk and a team of specialists. TNN

DSMNRU introduces special medals for disabled meritorious students

Lucknow: In a first, Dr Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) on Friday introduced Chancellor's, Vice-Chancellor's, and Chief Minister's Gold Medals exclusively for disabled meritorious students. The medals will be awarded during the 2025 convocation ceremony. "Our specially abled students have made us proud at both national and international levels. However, until now, our university did not have any special medals to honour such brilliant students. Therefore, the university has decided to award the Chancellor's Gold Medal to our visually impaired and physically challenged students," said DSMNRU spokesperson Yashant Virodai. "We already award the Chancellor's Gold Medal to the overall toppers. This will be a second Chancellor's Gold Medal, specifically for our disabled students. Similarly, the university has decided to give away special Vice-Chancellor's and Chief Minister's Gold Medals, which will also be awarded to visually impaired and physically challenged meritorious students." Early property tax rebate: Date extended till July 31

New Delhi: Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) extended the deadline for the 10% early property tax filing rebate until July 31. Property owners can now receive the 10% rebate by making their tax payments before the new deadline. Previously, the deadline was June 30. The extension was granted following a standing committee meeting, where concerns were raised about technical issues affecting the corporation's property tax portal, which prevented many users from accessing the system. The announcement was made by standing committee Chairperson, Satya Sharma. Besides the 10% rebate for advance payment of taxes, other rebates given to senior citizens, women, etc., will also continue until July 31. The civic body earlier claimed to intensify camps with RWAs and take other measures to increase tax collection. MCD established a property tax collection target of Rs 4,000 crore for 2025-26. There are approximately 13 lakh taxpayers, and the civic body is also taking measures to bring more taxpayers under the tax net.
