In pictures: Mud race sees hundreds take part
The annual Maldon Mud Race in Essex saw Vicki Riley claim the title of fastest woman, while first-timer Joe Griggs was the first man to cross the finishing line.
Most people managed to complete the task, but for a few organisers had to get ropes and small paddle boats to help get them out of the water after the tide started to rise.
Here are a few pictures of those plucky people, who helped raise some £40,000 for Essex charities.

2026 4-star WR commits to USC over Texas A&M
Texas A&M's 2026 wide receiver haul is headlined by four-stars Aaron Gregory, Madden Williams, and Mike Brown, who have all since shut down their recruitment and will sign with the program during the Early Signing Period on December 4. On Friday, coach Mike Elko and WR coach Holmon Wiggins were on the cusp of landing the program's fourth wide receiver commit, but were edged out by the current No. 1 recruiting class. 2026 four-star wide receiver Ethan "Boobie" Feaster committed to USC over Texas A&M, Alabama and LSU, which was not a shock given Rivals' prediction for the Trojans to land the stand out DeSoto (TX) product, who reclassified to the 2026 class late last year. Feaster is solid quarterback play away from becoming a five-star prospect, and for those wanting to blame Elko and Wiggins for losing out in the final days, USC has been on a hot streak similar to, and even more so than, the Aggies. Until Feaster signs his letter of intent, Texas A&M still has a shot at flipping him this fall. Still, right now, the Aggies are in excellent shape at the wide receiver position for the future, knowing that all three commits will be in College Station next summer, paired with nearly every receiver from the 2025 roster, outside of KC Concepcion. Feaster finished his junior season with a personal-best 57 receptions, 855 yards, and 14 touchdowns. Through two varsity seasons, the DeSoto product has 1,489 yards and 23 touchdowns. According to On3, Feaster is the 44th-ranked overall prospect and the fifth-ranked wide receiver in the 2026 class. He is the fifth-ranked prospect in Texas. Auburn football among finalists to land 2026 safety Craig Tutt
The 2026 safety will choose between Auburn and two other SEC programs later this month, Auburn remains in great standing with a 2026 cornerback from Tennessee as the commitment date looms. Craig Tutt, a four-star safety from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, has locked in a commitment date for Friday, July 18. Auburn remains in the running to land Tutt, joining Ole Miss and Tennessee in the three-team SEC race. In a recent interview with Rivals, Tutt says that his top three schools recruited him well, but one stands out among the mix. 'There are great opportunities at each of these schools, the coaches recruited me well at each school and it just came down to where I felt the best at," Tutt said. "One of these had everything I was looking for and needed, and that is what it came down to for me.' Is Auburn that team? Tutt raved about his visit to Auburn in June, where he says he was happy to get the chance to explore the Plains. "Oh man, it's amazing," Tutt said in an interview with Auburn Undercover. "It's completely not what I expected — it's actually more than I expected it to be. I'm excited that I got a chance to come down here and explore it all. Some things that stood out to me were Coach Freeze is very into the recruits. Even though we were here at like 10 o'clock last night and he's up here chilling with us, taking pictures and stuff like that. It's like a family here. I know none of the players here, but they welcomed me with open arms, just helping me with whatever I need. Coaches being a family here and just pushing that all on me that it's a family here, and that's true." Although Tutt enjoyed his visit to Auburn, he is projected to commit elsewhere. On3 projects Tennessee to be the winner in the Tutt sweepstakes with a 31.1% chance to land him. Ole Miss is next at 27.2%, with Auburn in third place at 23.3%. The race is tight, but Auburn remains a heavy contender with two weeks to go until the announcement is made. FSU ace goes top 10 in newest MLB mock draft
The 2025 MLB draft is just over a week away, and FSU pitcher Jamie Arnold is going to be one of the first players taken. The latest mock draft from Jim Callis of has the Toronto Blue Jays taking him with the No. 8 overall pick in the draft. "The Blue Jays are mostly associated with college arms and high school shortstops, which not coincidentally are the two most fertile areas at the top of the Draft. This feels like Arnold's floor and Witherspoon could land here if he's the final top-tier arm remaining. They also have strong interest in Parker and could take Willits or Carlson." Arnold had a strong junior season for the Seminoles, headlining their starting rotation. He finished with an 8-2 record and a 2.98 ERA. In 84.2 innings, he recorded 119 strikeouts against 63 hits and 27 walks. He held opponents to a .208 batting average and made six All-American teams. If he is taken 8th overall, he would be the highest drafted Seminole since the San Francisco Giants took Buster Posey with the 5th overall pick in 2008. Arnold would also become the third-highest drafted pitcher in program history and the first taken in the first round since Luke Weaker in 2014. The 2025 MLB draft will take place in Atlanta, Georgia, and last from July 13-14. The Seminoles had two first-round picks last year in James Tibbs III and Cam Smith.
