2.55 Pontefract – Pomfret Stakes (Listed, 1m; Racing TV)
POINT LYNAS (NAP) looks like being hard to catch again in this Listed contest, the only worry being that this comes just two weeks after a big front-running effort when second in the Group 2 Summer Mile at Ascot.
His only previous start at Pontefract came in this race last year, when Point Lynas won by five and a half lengths.
4.25 Pontefract – Class 4 Handicap (5f; Racing TV)
ELEGANT ERIN is a course-and-distance winner who has been holding her form well lately, notably finishing runner-up three times in a row this year.
That sequence of seconds was interrupted when she finished only seventh at Newcastle on her latest outing, but that was a Class 2 contest and Paul Midgley's mare still ran creditably in a race that didn't unfold ideally.

When is the next big racing festival?
The week-long Galway Festival kicks off in Ireland on Monday, followed a day later by Glorious Goodwood. Check out the latest Glorious Goodwood free bets and betting offers.
The latter is a five-day fixture and is set to feature Field Of Gold, possibly the best horse in the world, in the Sussex Stakes on Wednesday, one of three Group 1s at the meeting.
What does NAP mean?
NAP is a word used in betting circles to describe a prediction that a tipster thinks has a particularly strong chance of winning.
Many horse racing tipsters pick out a 'NAP of the day', which is their favoured selection from all the races across the different meetings.
The term derives from the French card game Napoleon. When players of this game thought they had a particularly strong hand that they would win with, they would shout 'Napoleon'.

Ella Toone's emotional tribute to late father moments after Euro 2025 final win

Ella Toone paid tribute to her late father Nick moments after England won Euro 2025, in what was the midfielder's first trophy since he passed away in September last year. Toone was in tears after England's shootout victory over Spain and looked towards the sky as she was hugged by Alessia Russo, Keira Walsh and Alex Greenwood. Toone later posted on Instagram that there happened to be a spare seat next to her mum during the final, adding: 'If that's not a sign I don't know what is'. The 25-year-old also uploaded a picture with Beth Mead, who lost her mother June to ovarian cancer 18 months ago, saying: 'We did it for our angels in the sky'. Toone and Mead have shared a special bond during the tournament by supporting each other through grief and posed with their Euro 2025 medals. 'My dad, I went up to see my family and my mum she said there was a spare seat next to her,' Toone later said. 'He was there and that was the sign I was looking for today. My family, my dad, everyone who has got me here today, they have been my support network from the very start.' Manchester United midfielder Toone is now a two-time European champion with England after starting the Euro 2025 final against Spain. 'The girls who have won twice, for the ones who've never won it before, I'm so happy for them,' captain Leah Williamson said. 'What an honour to be in this time. 'I believe it but I'm struggling. Everything we say, try and live by, we do, and every single person who shows up every time. We stuck to the game plan. 'So many players that have done so much, they give everything, before we even get to the football bit. 'I feel I should be saying something monumental, but I just don't have the words. I'm so proud, and I feel so lucky. Everyone turned up today, and that's what happens. It's staying home.'

FA release statement warning England fans NOT to travel to the airport as Lioness heroes fly home after Euro 2025 glory

ENGLAND fans have been urged NOT to travel to the airport as the Lionesses heroes return to the UK this afternoon. Sarina Wiegman's side won back-to-back Euros titles after defeating Spain 3-1 on penalties in Switzerland. 1 But the FA have released a statement begging jubilant England fans to stay away from their landing airport. The move is to ensure the players' smooth and safe arrival, preventing potential overcrowding and logistical nightmares at what will be extremely busy airports. Instead, supporters are being encouraged to join in the official homecoming celebrations planned for central London on Tuesday. The team bus will parade down The Mall, culminating in a staged ceremony at the Queen Victoria Memorial, hosted by former England star Alex Scott.

Montrose win 'steadies the ship' but 'an awful lot to do' for Dundee

Herald football writer Stephen McGowan thinks Dundee's 5-0 win over Montrose will help "steady the ship" at Den's Park, despite their League Cup exit. After a disappointing start to the group stage, Steven Pressley's side recorded back-to-back wins over Montrose and Bonnyrigg Rose but won't progress to the last 16 of the competition. "It's been a ropey old start for Stephen Pressley," McGowan told the BBC's Scottish Football podcast. "I think it was always going to be a really difficult time. "A lot of people felt that the sacking of Tony Doherty was pretty harsh, pretty unfair. That wasn't really Stephen Pressley's fault. "He just came into a slightly unenviable situation where people were dubious about him from the start and against that backdrop, the very last thing you want to do is go out the League Cup in the first couple of games."So five goals against Montrose will be welcome. It will help to steady the ship a little bit but I don't think there's any question that they have an awful lot to do."I think right now if you were looking at the teams people would expect to struggle in that Premiership right now, I think Dundee would be one of the main picks."
