Steelers to honor Ben Roethlisberger, Maurkice Pouncey, Joey Porter Sr.
Pouncey was the center for star quarterback Roethlisberger for 11 seasons from 2010-20 while Porter was a stellar linebacker for Pittsburgh from 1999-2006. Roethlisberger played for the Steelers from 2004-21 and guided the squad to two Super Bowl victories.
"It's special," Steelers President Art Rooney II said in a news release. "Just to welcome a group of guys that mean so much to Steelers football, mean so to our fans. These three guys made a difference for us over the course of their careers. This group is a pretty special group and belong in there with the rest of them."
Porter was in attendance for the announcement, made Saturday at Saint Vincent College in Latrobe, Pa.
"It's called the Hall of Honor for a reason," Porter said. "It's an honor to be in it. To be mentioned with all the guys that played before that are in the Hall of Honor is special. Being in Pittsburgh, you know the tradition of what it means to play for the Steelers.
"So just to be always mentioned amongst the greats, that's what makes it amazing. It's an honor."
Porter is the son of current Pittsburgh cornerback Joey Porter Jr.
The elder Porter was a three-time Pro Bowl pick and won a Super Bowl during his team with the Steelers.
Roethlisberger was a six-time Pro Bowl selection. He holds or shares at least 52 franchise regular-season records and 18 postseason marks.
Pouncey spent his entire career with the Steelers and was a nine-time Pro Bowl selection.

Dominant Paul Skenes leads Pirates past Diamondbacks
July 27 - Paul Skenes pitched six shutout innings for the second consecutive start to lead the host Pittsburgh Pirates to a 6-0 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday afternoon. Skenes (6-8) gave up three hits, walked one and struck out nine on 99 pitches to lead the Pirates to the series victory and second consecutive shutout win over the Diamondbacks, who lost for the fifth time in their past six games. Arizona was shut out in back-to-back games for the first time this season after being shut out only three times prior. It was Pittsburgh's 13th shutout this year. The Pirates allowed only one run in three games against the Diamondbacks, and that came in the 11th inning with the automatic runner in play in Friday's 1-0 loss. It's the only run Pittsburgh pitchers have allowed in 30 of their past 31 innings pitched. Skenes has not allowed a run in 13 consecutive innings, and lowered his ERA to 1.83 - the lowest in the majors. After Sunday's start, Skenes lowered his career ERA to 1.90 over his first 266 career innings. It's the lowest by any pitcher in the Live Ball era (since 1920) over his first 45 career starts. Oneil Cruz finished with two hits, including a double, and two RBIs; Tommy Pham had two hits and an RBI and Bryan Reynolds had an RBI double to lead Pittsburgh at the plate. Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen (7-12) allowed all four Pirates runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five over six innings. Jake McCarthy led Arizona with two hits, including a one-out triple in the top of the second inning. Skenes then struck out James McCann and induced an inning-ending pop up from Alek Thomas. McCarthy doubled with one out in the fourth to put runners on second and third. Skenes responded by striking out McCann and Thomas back-to-back. The loss was the latest damaging defeat for Arizona, which is already active before Thursday's trade deadline. Noah Cameron continues hot start to career in Royals win against Guardians
July 27 - Noah Cameron struck out six over five scoreless innings, while Maikel Garcia homered with two RBIs, as the host Kansas City Royals won 4-1 over the Cleveland Guardians on Sunday. Rookie Cameron (5-4) dodged some first-inning trouble to record another solid outing in his 14th career start. The left-hander also allowed three hits with a walk while throwing 83 pitches on a steamy day to lower his ERA to 2.44. Meanwhile, Garcia led the offense, which managed just four hits, but scored twice in the first inning and cruised to take two of three in this series. Gabrial Arias clubbed a late solo homer for one of his two hits for the Guardians, who stranded eight runners in falling short of winning their fifth consecutive series. Cameron loaded the bases with nobody out in his first eight pitches of the game. However, he got Cleveland's David Fry to pop out to short right field, struck out Carlos Santana and induced an inning-ending ground out to Arias. Meanwhile, the Royals didn't waste their opportunity in the bottom of the first against the Guardians' Joey Cantillo (2-1). Jonathan India opened with a walk and went to third on Bobby Witt Jr.'s double to right field. Run-scoring ground outs from Vinnie Pasquantino and Garcia followed for a 2-0 Kansas City lead.
