Police raid real casino in Tokyo where people gambled with online casinos

On the evening of 25 June, the Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department raided Rizin, not the mixed martial arts association but what is known as a 'brick-and-mortar online casino' that was operating in the Kabukicho area of Tokyo.

At the time of the raid, five employees and seven customers with ages ranging from their 20s to 80s were arrested and police say they've found data on over 5,000 other people on the roughly 20 computers they seized.

Rizin was discovered by authorities during their investigation of Shizuku Ida, a 27-year-old woman charged with the romance fraud of a 29-year-old man worth about 3.7 million yen ($25,000) last year. She was said to have spent about 80 million yen at Rizin. Police also say that Rizin was raking in millions of yen a day, but the investigation is still ongoing. All the employees admitted to the charges against them.
In online comments, many people were confused by both the existence of brick-and-mortar online casinos and why this one decided to call itself Rizin.

Ukraine says it hits four warplanes in Russia's Volgograd region
Ukraine's military said on Friday it had struck four warplanes at an airbase in central Russia's Volgograd Region as part of a drive to hit Russian war assets. In a post on the Telegram messaging app, the military said it had hit four Su-34 aircraft at the Marinovka base outside the city of Volgograd, some 900 km (550 miles) from the Ukrainian border. The post said the operation was conducted by the military's special operations branch, together with the SBU security service and other services of the military. "According to preliminary information, four aircraft were hit, specifically SU-34 planes, as well as technical-operational facilities where different warplanes are serviced and repaired," the statement said. There was no immediate comment from the Russian military. Ukraine has engaged in a number of long-range operations against military targets in recent months -- industrial, energy and other sites. Earlier this month, the Ukrainian military carried out a major strike, dubbed "Operation Spider's Web," in which large numbers of long-range Russian bombers were hit at several Russian airbases far from Ukrainian territory. The latest statement said the damage caused by the strike on Marinovka was being assessed. Tokyo police arrest 12 over online casino gambling at shop
NHK has learned that Japanese police arrested 12 people when raiding a shop that allegedly allowed customers to gamble on casino websites. Such wagering is illegal in Japan even on gaming sites based abroad. Police began raiding the establishment RIZIN in the Kabukicho entertainment district of Tokyo's Shinjuku Ward on Wednesday. They arrested five employees in their 20s through 40s, and seven customers in their 20s through 80s who were at the shop. Investigative sources say the employees are suspected of allowing customers to gamble on baccarat and other games on foreign-based casino websites using personal computers at the shop. They say the employees admitted to the allegation. The sources add that the store had at least 20 PCs and that police discovered data on more than 5,000 possible customers. Police say there are more establishments in Japan that allegedly allow customers to engage in online casino gambling. They have so far arrested people suspected to have gambled through online casinos using their own devices. Police have also clamped down on payment agencies alleged to have provided services to operators of casino websites.
