Aston Martin's Vantage gets more power for a modest price increase
Following in the footsteps of the previous-generation V8 and V12 Vantage S models launched in 2011 and 2013 respectively, the new Vantage S is based on the recently updated second-generation car. It gains a modest uplift in power from 656bhp to 671bhp, but torque is unchanged at 800Nm.
The model gets a new throttle map, which Aston claims 'further enhances driver engagement and performance feel', plus there are additional changes to the powertrain calibration, with an optimised launch control system said to cut the 0-62mph sprint to 3.4 seconds – one-tenth faster than before. New suspension hardware also features, alongside revised engine mounts and control software to bring what Aston claims to be 'greater agility along with improvements in feel, driver engagement and composure'.
The rear subframe is now mounted directly to the body, instead of via rubber bushes, for claimed gains in 'directness and steering connection'. The suspension's camber, toe and caster settings are also said to sharpen responses and improve front-end grip. Aston says the Vantage S 'has a thrilling appetite for corners backed up by steadfast stability'. Skip advert Advertisement - Article continues below
But while the firm's engineers wanted the S to display greater agility, they weren't prepared to sacrifice compliance or refinement. As such, you'll find reduced rear-spring stiffness for improved low-speed ride, plus a 10 per cent reduction in the stiffness of the transmission mounts. Advertisement - Article continues below
There's a handful of visual changes for Vantage S buyers to enjoy, too. At the front, there are new centrally-mounted bonnet vents available in gloss black or carbon fibre, designed to extract hot air from the engine. There are specific, hand-made S badges on the front wings, too, made from red glass enamel and either dark or bright chrome. Extra red detailing is also seen on the bespoke 21-inch Y-spoke wheels, hiding a set of contrasting bronze brake calipers.
To the rear, there's a full-width spoiler, which not only changes the car's look, but adds 44kg of downforce at top speed. Further updates underneath the car, including a new front airdam and venturi vanes, add an additional 67kg of downforce.
Inside, there's unique Alcantara and leather upholstery, with embroidered S logos comprising 2,500 individual stitches and over 16m of thread. The car also features carbon fibre trim inlays – a feature Aston claims offers 'a modest weight saving' while perfectly capturing 'the essence of S'.
On top of this, owners can specify a new, unique interior option package, bringing a choice of red or silver finishes to the knurled metal drive-mode controller, matching the dial to the car's seatbelts and stitching. A Sport interior package is also available, with different materials in both monotone and duotone colourways.
Despite apparently being available to order now, Aston has so far only offered an indicative on-the-road price of around £170,000 – around £5,000 more than the standard car. The Vantage S will make its global debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed this week, with first deliveries expected before the end of the year.

Tesla's top North American sales executive leaves, WSJ reports
July 15 (Reuters) - Tesla's (TSLA.O), opens new tab top sales executive in North America, Troy Jones, has left the electric vehicle maker in the latest senior departure at the company, the Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday, citing people familiar with the matter. The vice president of sales, service and delivery in North America - Tesla's biggest market - Jones has been with the company for 15 years. Tesla and Jones did not immediately respond to Reuters' requests for comment. Shares of Tesla fell more than 1% following the report. The reported exit comes at a time when Tesla is grappling with flagging sales, as demand in Europe and North America crumble amid Tesla's aging vehicle line-up and increased competition from rivals offering more affordable alternatives. Tesla has seen a wave of high-level executive departures since early last year, including key figures like CEO Elon Musk's confidant, Omead Afshar, chief battery engineer Drew Baglino and global public policy head Rohan Patel. The head of Tesla's Optimus humanoid robot team, Milan Kovac, announced he was leaving in June, and top battery executive Vineet Mehta did so in May. Their departures, along with others in legal and supply chain leadership, have raised questions about internal stability at the company as it navigates a sales slump and a shift to robotics and self-driving technology.

Another Round Of Price Hikes Instantly Makes Every Porsche More Expensive

Porsche 911 Prices Have Risen Drastically In Recent Times Porsche has never been a brand that tries to sell to everyone, but after the second round of price hikes for the 911 in four months, even fewer individuals can become customers. First spotted by Road & Track, the 911 range has been hit with prices of between 2.3 and 3.6 percent. As a result, the cheapest 911 Carrera now exceeds $130,000, and by a significant margin. For the record, Porsche updated the 911 range in March, and at the time, the base 911 was hit with an increase of almost 7%. While the 2025 911 Carrera started at $122,095 before a $1,995 destination charge, the 2026 911 Carrera was pushed to $129,950. Rubbing salt in the wound is that the destination charge was also raised to $2,250 for all 2026 models, but apparently, that wasn't enough of an increase either. New Porsche Pricing Affects Everything After the previous round of price adjustments added nearly $8,000 to the price of a base 911, the new price for 2026 tacks another $2,350 on the base model, which now starts at $132,300, before a new destination charge of $2,350 (a increase of $100). At the opposite end of the range are the 911 GT3 and 911 GT3 with Touring Package, which each cost $230,500 before options. That's an increase of over $8,000, but unfortunately, the 911 is not the only model line seeing increases, with every model now more expensive than before. New Price (+ dest.) Old Price (+ dest.) Total Difference 2025 718 Cayman $75,400 (+$1,995) $72,800 (+$1,995) +$2,600 2026 911 Carrera $132,300 (+$2,350) $129,950 (+$2,250) +$2,450 2026 Cayenne $88,800 (+$2,350) $86,545 (+$2,250) +$2,355 2026 Macan $64,600 (+$2,350) $63,100 (+$2,250) +$1,600 2026 Panamera $110,100 (+$2,350) $106,300 (+$2,250) +$3,900 2026 Taycan $103,900 (+$2,350) $100,300 (+$2,250) +$3,700 Autoblog Newsletter Autoblog brings you car news; expert reviews and exciting pictures and video. Porsche Has No Choice But To Raise Prices In a statement, Porsche spokesperson Frank Wiesmann explained the decision to R&T: 'With our customers front of mind, we keep a regular watch on market conditions, absorbing costs where we can and making adjustments only when it's absolutely necessary to do so.' He also confirmed that some options on the Porsche USA configurator have risen in price, and while it's disappointing for those who have to shell out more, it's not unexpected. With Chinese sales figures declining, EV demand proving sluggish, and new tariff policies impacting U.S. imports, Porsche warned that it could lose up to $2.3 billion a year if it didn't raise prices. With new 30 percent tariffs now being discussed for the European Union (and Mexico), more price increases may well come into effect before the end of the year. Porsche will not be producing cars in the U.S. because that would be even more costly to its precipitous business model, so if you want a 911 for less than $130k, you'll have to explore the used market.
