‘Doc Martin' Gets U.S. Adaptation ‘Best Medicine' Starring Josh Charles at Fox
Per the official series description, Martin is 'a brilliant surgeon who abruptly leaves his illustrious career in Boston to become the general practitioner in a quaint East Coast fishing village where he spent summers as a child. Unfortunately, Martin's blunt and borderline rude bedside manner rubs the quirky, needy locals the wrong way, and he quickly alienates the town, even though he's all they've got. Although Martin can expertly address any medical ailment or mystery in this idiosyncratic town, he's really just desperate to be left the hell alone. Instead, he keeps getting dragged right smack into the middle of their personal chaos, feuds and fantasies. What the locals don't know is that Martin's terse demeanor masks a debilitating new phobia and deep-seated psychological issues that prevent him from experiencing true intimacy with anyone. But tenacity is the creed of everyone in their small village, and the people who live there may be exactly what the doctor ordered.'

'Best Medicine' is executive produced by Ben Silverman, Rodney Ferrell, Liz Tuccillo, Mark Crowdy and Philippa Braithwaite. In the U.K., 'Doc Martin' was produced by Buffalo Pictures in association with Homerun Film Productions. The format, from All3Media International, was brought to the U.S. by Propagate Content.

News of 'Best Medicine' comes ahead of Fox's upfront presentation to ad buyers in New York next week. Deadline was first to report on the greenlight.

Fans of The Voice let out a collective chorus of 'Hmm' when the NBC sing-off revealed the changes being implemented for Season 29's Battle of Champions (which premieres in spring 2026). In particular, eyebrows were raised over the Knockouts round twist in which coaches Adam Levine, John Legend and Kelly Clarkson bring back two former contestants apiece to duke it out in what the show has dubbed an In-Season All-Star Competition to be judged by former coach CeeLo Green. More episodes of Season two of "The Sandman" are releasing on Netflix, with a series finale wrapping up the fantasy horror TV show at the end of July. The show revolves around a character named Morpheus, also known as the dream, played by Tom Sturridge. Morpheus works to restore his mystical realm known as the Dreaming after being imprisoned for a century. Once freed, the dream tries to repair his life by regaining his magical tools, which takes him to hell to visit Lucifer, played by Gwendoline Christie and in search of a deranged human, played by David Thewlis. In 2025, Netflix announced that 'The Sandman' would end after its second season. Showrunner Allan Heinberg told Variety in a statement that the show ending was a creative decision. However, the cancelation was also in light of sexual assault allegations against the creator Neil Gaiman, as previously reported by USA TODAY. "'The Sandman' series has always been focused exclusively on Dream's story, and back in 2022, when we looked at the remaining Dream material from the comics, we knew we only had enough story for one more season," Heinberg said to Variety.
