"All parties should create a common minimum program to address issue of illegal immigrants": Delhi Assembly Speaker

India Gazette16 hours ago
New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): Delhi Assembly Speaker Vijender Gupta called upon all political parties to rise above partisan lines and formulate a 'common minimum program' to collectively address the issue of illegal immigrants in the national capital.
His remarks came in response to Delhi Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena's recent directive to the Chief Secretary, seeking stricter regulations for the issuance of Aadhaar cards in Delhi. The directive followed reports of a large number of Aadhaar cards being fraudulently obtained by illegal immigrants.
Speaking to ANI, the Delhi Assembly Speaker said, 'This (illegal migrants) is a major problem in Delhi. To resolve it, all parties should come together and, rising above politics, create a common minimum program to address this issue collectively.'
On Friday, the Principal Secretary to the Delhi Lieutenant Governor, VK Saxena, wrote to the Chief Secretary of the Delhi government, urging the enforcement of stringent regulations regarding Aadhaar issuance in the national capital.
In a letter dated July 11, the Principal Secretary highlighted that the illegal immigrants have managed to secure an Aadhaar card on the basis of false documentation or misrepresentation, which, in turn, is adversely impacting local employment.
The letter further noted that illegal immigrants are also getting benefits under the welfare schemes of the Centre and State governments, once they get their Aadhar cards.
The LG secretariat has asked for strict enforcement by Registrars in issuing Aadhar Cards and directed them to switch to the in-house model of Aadhar enrollment within two months.
The Chief Secretary has also been asked to provide a comprehensive list of all Aadhar enrollment centres in the national capital by July 15.
The letter reads, 'It has been brought to the attention of the Lt. Governor that during the course of Security Review Meetings, in several instances, illegal immigrants have managed to secure Aadhaar cards on the basis of false documentation or misrepresentation. This has a cascading impact wherein such individuals are able to secure documents which establish Nationality, i.e. Passport and Voter Identity Cards.'
'They also end up availing benefits under Welfare Schemes administered by the Central and State Governments. Having secured Aadhaar documents, the illegal immigrants secure jobs, depressing local labour markets, and adversely impacting local employment. This also has wider ramifications for National Security,' it added.
According to the letter, the Delhi government has not complied with UIDAI's directions to shift to an in-house model for Aadhaar enrollment by March 2023. (ANI)

Kamal Nath claims 2023 assembly poll results influenced by 8% fake voters

Bhopal: Former chief minister Kamal Nath on Saturday alleged that BJP won the 2023 assembly election through fake voters. He said that in the 2018 assembly poll, both Congress and BJP got nearly the same percentage of votes. But in the next election, while Congress' vote percentage remained constant, BJP's vote numbers increased by 8%. Now, it has been revealed that 8 to 10% of voters in the state would be reduced when voter identification is linked to Aadhar cards. Linking of voters to Aadhar cards would be completed before the 2028 assembly election by the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). Taking to X, Kamal Nath said, "It has come to light that there are approximately 55-57 lakh fake voters in Madhya Pradesh. This number accounts for about 8-10% of the total voters in the state. Based on these very voters, the Madhya Pradesh Assembly election of 2023 was conducted." He argued, "Even before the election, the Congress Party repeatedly complained to the Election Commission (EC) about the presence of a large number of fake voters. The Congress Party also raised complaints about cases where more than a hundred voters were registered at a single address and provided photographs of the houses to the EC. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Tại sao CFD tiền mã hóa có thể phù hợp với danh mục đầu tư của bạn IC Markets Tìm hiểu thêm Undo Unfortunately, at that time, no appropriate action was taken against these fake voters. " Nath reasoned that in 2018, the vote percentage of Congress and the BJP was almost equal, at around 40%. "And in the 2023 assembly election, Congress's vote percentage remained around 40%, whereas the BJP's vote percentage saw a sudden jump of 8%. Is it merely a coincidence that the number of voters now being reported as fake corresponds closely to the additional 8% votes that the BJP received in the 2023 Assembly election?" the Congress veteran asked. This report that 8% to 10% of voters would be reduced when 100% of voters are linked to Aadhar cards makes it clear that the results of the 2023 Assembly election in Madhya Pradesh are not beyond the realm of suspicion, he said. "Later, a similar issue of large-scale voter inflation was raised in Maharashtra by the Lok Sabha LOP Rahul Gandhi himself. Time has now come for the public to become fully aware of their voting rights and ensure that every eligible voter registers their name and the names of ineligible individuals are removed," Kamal Nath said. "It is also clear here that the identification of fake voters is possible because their voter ID cards are being linked with Aadhaar cards. Therefore, the EC must, under all circumstances, include the Aadhaar card as a mandatory document for voter identification," he added. MSID:: 122408723 413 |

Bihar Voter Enumeration: ECI deploys over 98,000 BLOs to meet July 25 deadline

New Delhi [India], July 12 (ANI): With 77,895 BLOS, an additional 20,603 newly appointed BLOS on ground, ECI is moving ahead to complete the collection of Enumeration Forms (EFs) well before the stipulated time of 25th July, a press release from the Election Commission of India stated. Field-level teams, including 38 District Election Officers (DEOS), Electoral Registration Officers (EROS) across all 243 Assembly Constituencies, and 963 Assistant EROS (AEROS), are being closely monitored by the CEO for this purpose. These efforts of ECI are being supplemented by 1.5 Lakh BLAS appointed by all political parties who are also visiting door to door and leaving no stone unturned to ensure inclusion of each and every existing elector whose names are in the Electoral Roll in Bihar as on 24 June 2025. Special efforts are also being made to assist senior citizens, PwD electors, and other vulnerable groups by over 4 lakh volunteers. Having completed 100% printing and near completion of distribution of EFs to all electors who were found at their addresses, as of 6.00 PM today, collection crossed 6,32,59,497 or 80.11%. Which means 4 out of every 5 electors in Bihar have submitted the EF. With this pace, the majority of EFs are likely to be collected much before 25th July 2025. In order to get their names included in the draft electoral rolls to be published on 1st Aug, electors have to submit their EFS, preferably, along with eligibility documents. In case any elector needs more time to submit the eligibility documents, he can submit them separately till 30 Aug, i.e. the last date of filing claims and objections and take the help of volunteers as well. Achieving yet another step well in time, BLOS have already digitised and uploaded 4.66 crore Enumeration Forms in ECINet by 6 PM today. ECINet is the newly developed integrated software that has subsumed all the different 40 ECI Apps that had existed earlier. (ANI)
