Car crash along I-95 in Indian River County kills 1, injures 2

SEBASTIAN — One person was killed July 4 in a fatal single-vehicle crash that occurred along Interstate 95, the Florida Highway Patrol reported.
The wreck, which occurred near the Brevard-Indian River County border at northbound Mile Marker 159 north of County Road 512, was reported at 7:10 p.m. First responders arrived at 7:22 p.m., FHP said.
FHP did not release any details about what happened in the crash.
Deputies from the Indian River County Sheriff's Office who responded to the scene located one occupant of the unspecified vehicle who was pronounced dead at the scene, said Lt. Kevin Jaworski, a sheriff's office spokesperson. Two passengers were transported to the Holmes Regional Medical Center in Melbourne with severe or life-threatening injuries.
The identities of the deceased and injured occupants of the vehicle were not released. A spokesperson for Florida Highway Patrol was not available for comment.
There have been 948 vehicular crashes in Indian River County in 2025, according to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. Seven have been fatal.
In 2024, there were 2,163 crashes in the county, according to the department. Twenty were fatal.

It is bounded by Martin Luther King Boulevard, Northwest First Street, Northwest Ninth Court and Northwest Eighth Avenue. Police did not disclose names, ages or genders of the shooting victims, the circumstances that led to the gunfire, or whether any suspects had been identified. Sanabia said police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call the department's non-emergency line at 561-732-8116. A man is dead and a woman was hospitalized with critical injuries after what police believe to be a "domestic-related" shooting in Hallandale Beach on Sunday. Hallandale Beach Police said officers responded to reports of a shooting near 200 SW 10th Ave, and upon arrival, they found a woman suffering from "multiple gunshot wounds" and a dead man on the scene. The woman was taken to a nearby hospital, where she remains in critical condition. According to the preliminary investigation, the shooting appears to be an isolated incident and "domestic-related," Hallandale Beach Police said. Hallandale Beach Police detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting and trying to determine a possible motive. Delaware State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a 21-year-old man early July 6 near Farmington. Around 1 a.m., a GMC Sierra pickup truck was headed south on Shawnee Road, just south of Breezy Meadow Lane, at an apparent high rate of speed, police said. The driver veered off the east side of the road, hitting a tree with the truck's rear left side, then crashed head-on with a second tree, according to police. The driver, a Greenwood man, was not properly restrained and pronounced dead at the scene, police said. He will be identified after his family is notified.
