2026 Hyundai Venue Review, Pricing, and Specs

Car and Driver16-07-2025
Overview
The Hyundai Venue is at least a half-foot shorter than any other subcompact SUV on the market. It also costs several thousand dollars less than most of its competitors, yet it doesn't feel cramped or cut-rate. The cabin design is simple and smart, with several places to store small items and an easy-to-use infotainment system that supports smartphone mirroring.
The Venue's tidy dimensions and responsive steering are boons for those who regularly weave through city traffic but less than ideal for highway commuters, who will have to make constant corrections when the wind buffets this featherweight off course. They're also liable to curse the modestly powered four-cylinder during merging and passing attempts, as the Venue takes its sweet time getting up to speed. But that's often the price you pay for a good price.
Expert Tip: For about the same money, a base Kia Soul gets you more space, power, and style than the Hyundai.
What's New for 2026?
The Limited trim is gone, leaving just the SE and SEL. The latter (now the lineup topper) gains some equipment: wireless device charging, heating for the front seats and side mirrors, and two-tone paint options.
Pricing and Which One to Buy
The price of the 2026 Hyundai Venue is expected to start around $22,000 and go up to $24,000 depending on the trim and options.
SE
$22,000 (est)
SEL
$24,000 (est) 0 $10k $20k $30k $40k
The SEL is worth the splurge. It improves on the base model with automatic climate control, heated front seats, proximity keyless entry, and blind-spot monitoring.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Engine: 121-hp four-cylinder
121-hp four-cylinder Transmission: continuously variable automatic (CVT)
continuously variable automatic (CVT) Drivetrain: front-wheel drive
Powered by a 121-hp four-cylinder engine, the Venue feels sufficiently motivated around town but has a complete lack of passing power on the highway. A CVT sends torque exclusively to the front wheels; all-wheel drive isn't an option.
We find the Venue is best suited for short commutes across town rather than long highway trips. It feels agile in traffic, largely thanks to its tidy dimensions and reactive steering. On the highway, though, this subcompact SUV needs regular attention to stay in its lane.
0–60-MPH Times
C/D 60-mph Test: 8.5 seconds
In Comparison: With our test gear attached, a Venue took a leisurely 8.5 seconds to reach 60 mph. Still, it's quicker than the Nissan Kicks.

Fuel Economy and Real-World MPG
C/D 75-mph Highway Fuel-Economy Test : 31 mpg
31 mpg EPA City Rating : 29 mpg
29 mpg EPA Highway Rating: 32 mpg
The EPA hasn't yet released fuel-economy information for the 2026 Hyundai Venue, but the ratings shouldn't change. The 2025 model earns estimates of 29 mpg in the city and 32 mpg on the highway. Those numbers are slightly worse than those of the Nissan Kicks, which has estimates of 31 mpg city and 36 mpg highway.
On our 75-mph highway fuel-economy test route, the Venue saw 31 mpg—1 mpg short of its EPA highway rating. For more information about the Venue's fuel economy, visit the EPA's website.
Interior, Comfort, and Cargo
First Row: Despite its diminutive dimensions, the Venue has a roomy cabin. The design isn't flashy, but the interior is well assembled and fitted with sturdy switchgear and an attractive gauge cluster and infotainment system. Heated seats and single-zone automatic climate control are available in the SEL, but you won't find things like a heated steering wheel or head-up display in any Venue.
Second Row: The back seat is spacious for a subcompact SUV but not necessarily for a person over six feet tall.
Cargo Capacity: With the 60/40 split-folding rear seats in use, the Venue has 19 cubic feet of cargo room. That volume increases to 32 cubes when the back seat is folded flat.

Michelin posts H1 sales in line with market forecasts

By Mathias de Rozario (Reuters) -French tyre maker Michelin reported a 3.4% decline in sales in the first half of the year, in line with market expectations, as a fall in sales volumes was partly offset by higher selling prices. The group confirmed its previous guidance for the full year, in the absence of any further deterioration in the economic environment in the second half of the year. WHY IT'S IMPORTANT Michelin's business continues to be impacted by a slowdown in the automotive market, especially in Europe. The group, which, at the end of last year, employed more than 23,500 people at its production sites across the U.S. and Canada has, since March, been facing tariffs imposed by U.S. President Donald Trump. It is looking at accelerating investments in the United States to counter the impact of tariffs. BY THE NUMBERS Sales fell to 13.03 billion euros ($15.33 billion) in the first half from 13.48 billion euros a year ago. That compared with the forecast 13.08 billion euros in a company-provided consensus. The company recorded a 6.1% drop in volumes, mainly in its original equipment sales. The impact from the U.S. tariffs were around 65 million euros in the first half of the year. They are expected to have an impact of around 200 million euros over the full year. KEY QUOTES "Our results have been severely penalised by the fall in volumes linked to our original equipment activities, whether in the automotive or truck sectors, or in a number of specialities, including heavy goods vehicles, agriculture and infrastructure," , Chief Financial Officer Yves Chapot said on call with journalists. "We have chosen to be as localised as possible, so 70% of what we sell in the United States is made in the United States" he added on the impact of tarrifs. 30 Years of APEAL: All Vehicle Areas Improve for First Time in Nearly a Decade, J.D. Power Finds

Porsche (Premium) and MINI (Mass Market) Highest-Ranking Brands for Second Consecutive Year TROY, Mich., July 24, 2025--(BUSINESS WIRE)--New-vehicle owners today are more passionate about their vehicle than ever, according to the J.D. Power 2025 U.S. Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Study,SM released today. Overall satisfaction is 851 (on a 1,000-point scale), an increase of 4 index points from a year ago and the highest level since the study was last redesigned in 2020. Switch Auto Insurance and Save Today! Great Rates and Award-Winning Service The Insurance Savings You Expect Affordable Auto Insurance, Customized for You Scores in all 10 categories in the study improve compared with last year—an achievement for the industry that has not occurred in almost a decade. The gains are led by a 13-point improvement in satisfaction with fuel economy, followed by infotainment and interior, which each increase by 6 points. "For three decades, the APEAL Study has tracked which new vehicles excite and delight owners the most," said Frank Hanley, senior director of auto benchmarking at J.D. Power. "Manufacturers have made significant advancements that continue to redefine the vehicle ownership experience and have become more adept at translating innovation into meaningful customer engagement. However, the study finds that owners of new models have lower levels of satisfaction with vehicle setup and startup—as well as infotainment systems—compared with owners of carryover models. This suggests that increasing technology and menu complexity remain persistent challenges for the industry." Now in its 30th year, the APEAL Study complements the annual J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality StudySM (IQS) and the J.D. Power U.S. Tech Experience Index (TXI) StudySM by measuring owners' emotional attachment and level of excitement with their new vehicle. The APEAL Study asks owners to consider 37 attributes, ranging from the sense of comfort they feel when climbing into the driver's seat to their exhilaration when they step on the accelerator. Vehicle owners' responses to queries about these attributes are aggregated to compute an overall APEAL Index score. Following are some key findings of the 2025 study: Premium brands outpace mass market brands in emotional satisfaction gains, led by Tesla: While emotional satisfaction among owners of mass market brands improves 2 points, it rises 11 points among owners of premium vehicles, largely driven by Tesla. The brand has achieved a year-over-year improvement of 20 points or more across all categories in the study, with the exception of powertrain (+6 points), which has consistently remained its area of greatest strength. Complicated technology derails owner satisfaction with new-model launches: Owners of carryover models express more emotional affinity for their vehicle than do owners of new-model launches (852 vs. 846, respectively) for a second consecutive year. Similarly, new models—which make up 14% of the industry this year—suffered from lower quality performance in this year's J.D. Power U.S. Initial Quality Study. Also, in this year's APEAL Study, the largest satisfaction gaps for launch vehicles are in vehicle setup/startup (via the app) and infotainment—gaps that are especially pronounced in the premium segment, where carryover models score 48 points higher for setup/startup and 26 points higher for infotainment. Satisfaction more consistent among ICE and hybrid owners: The study indicates that among new-vehicle owners, internal combustion engine (ICE) and hybrid vehicles deliver more consistent satisfaction, while plug-in hybrids (PHEVs) and battery electric vehicles (BEVs) exhibit greater year-over-year fluctuations. Notably, satisfaction among owners of BEVs (860, excluding Tesla) drops 17 points from a year ago when comparing across fuel types, while PHEVs (855) improve 14 points. Customers indicate that PHEVs and hybrids hit the sweet spot for pleasing them with regard to fuel economy, range and charging speed. Individual user profiles boost vehicle appeal: Just over half (55%) of vehicle owners are creating individual user profiles in their vehicle—features that allow personalization of settings such as seat position and climate control. The study reveals that premium vehicle owners are adopting this feature at twice the rate of mass market owners, and that when profiles are set up, owners across both segments cite increased emotional satisfaction. Highest-Ranking Brands Porsche ranks highest among premium brands for a second consecutive year, with a score of 890. Land Rover (886) ranks second and BMW (881) ranks third. MINI ranks highest among mass market brands for a second consecutive year, with a score of 876. Dodge (868) ranks second and GMC (852) ranks third. Model-Level APEAL Awards The corporation receiving the most model-level awards (for models ranking highest in their respective segment) is BMW AG (five segment awards and highest-ranking model), followed by Hyundai Motor Group (four segment awards), and Ford Motor Company and Volkswagen AG, each with three segment awards. Is the electric Chevy Equinox the next Tesla Model Y?

General Motors, the largest automaker in the U.S., announced its second-quarter financial results on July 22. The report was, overall, a gloomy tale of the impact of President Trump's tariffs, which, the company said, cost it more than a billion dollars this past quarter. But while GM's total profits fell by more than a third in Q2, the company did point out one bright spot: a major spike in EV sales, launching it closer to true competition with Tesla. In its investor relations call, GM—which operates the subsidiary brands Buick, GMC, Chevrolet, and Cadillac—said its EV sales more than doubled from April to June. Meanwhile, early this month, Tesla reported a 13% decline in vehicle deliveries for its second quarter, one of the largest quarterly declines in the company's history and its second quarterly decline in a row. In its earnings call on July 24, the company reported its revenue was down more than $3 billion year-over-year (though the company also claimed a newer, cheaper version of the Model Y would soon be available). An analysis by the data collection firm Cox Automotive published on July 14 found that while Tesla still solidly holds the title of the U.S. EV market's largest mover, GM has charged past Ford and Hyundai to snag the No. 2 spot. With models like the Chevy Blazer and Chevy Equinox, the automaker is quietly encroaching on Tesla's dominant market spot. 2025 Blazer EV [Photo: Chevrolet] A tale of Tesla's (declining) dominance Tesla has long outpaced its competitors in the American EV market, but the gulf that once separated the brand from all others has been slowly closing over the past several years. Subscribe to the Design newsletter. The latest innovations in design brought to you every weekday Privacy Policy | Fast Company Newsletters In 2020, Tesla controlled nearly 80% of the U.S. market, based on data from Experian. By 2022, that was down to 65.4%, followed by 55% in 2023. This year, per Cox Automotive, that share continues to decline, hovering around 45% as of July 11. In a press release, Cox Automotive stated, 'Tesla's many issues do not require a full rehashing here: Suffice it to say, the hyper-competitive EV market is providing the troubled automaker no relief.' Part of Tesla's market share decline can certainly be attributed to the brand's laundry list of reputational blows this year, namely concerning CEO Elon Musk's ongoing feud with Trump. But as Cox Automotive hints, another factor is broadening competition: Since 2020, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Kia, Lexus, and other automakers have introduced countless new EV models. GM, in particular, has been dedicating greater resources to its fleet of electric vehicles. The company now sells 12 different EV models across its four brands, which accounted for about 15% of the U.S. EV market in the second quarter of 2025—triple the share of both Ford and Hyundai. Of GM's EVs, its top-selling models were the Chevy Equinox and Chevy Blazer, which sold 17,420 units and 6,549 units, respectively. The Equinox has gained significant traction for its relatively low cost, which starts at around $35,000. These numbers are far behind those of Tesla's ultra-popular Model Y, which shipped 86,120 units in the second quarter. Still, Chevrolet's EV sales alone have shown 130%-plus year-over-year growth—signaling that GM may be on an upward trajectory compared to Tesla's current slump. GM CEO Mary Barra reinforced that trajectory on a July 22 earnings call, sharing that profitable EV sales are now the company's 'North Star.' advertisement 'We are growing in EVs because we have a strategic portfolio of vehicles that people love for their design, performance, range, and value,' she said. [Photo: Chevrolet] An uncertain path ahead Despite GM's major EV success of late, the new EV market saw an overall year-over-year decline. Stephanie Valdez Streaty, senior analyst at Cox Automotive, said in its press release that the lower sales 'underscore the market's ongoing challenges, as growth in the auto business ebbs and flows on consumer demand,' and are a sign of a more mature EV market. Used EV sales, on the other hand, quietly flourished, surpassing a record-breaking 100,000 units in the second quarter. 'With availability growing and incentives for new EVs expected to fall, the used EV market may grow faster in the quarters ahead,' Cox Automotive reported. For market analysts, the elephant in the room is Congress's recent approval of new spending legislation that will end tax credits on new or used EVs beginning September 30. In light of this change, several experts have predicted that EV sales are likely to see a spike in the interim, followed by a noticeable decline starting in October. Cox Automotive takes a slightly more conservative stance, predicting that new EV sales will continue to expand in the U.S. compared to last year, but at a much reduced pace. 'With government-backed incentives set to end in September and economic pressures mounting, the second half of the year will be a critical test of EV demand,' Valdez Streaty said. 'Q3 will likely be a record, followed by a collapse in Q4, as the electric vehicle market adjusts to its new reality.'
