BST Hyde Park Cancels Final Day After ELO Withdraws Due to Jeff Lynne's Health Issues
On Saturday (July 12), organizers announced that Lynne — whose performance was set to be his final live show — would not appear as planned.

'Jeff Lynne is heartbroken to report that he will not be able to perform at tomorrow's BST Hyde Park show,' read a statement posted on the festival's website. 'Jeff has been battling a systemic infection and is currently in the care of a team of doctors who have advised him that performing is simply not possible at this time nor will he be able to reschedule.'
Organizers added, 'The legacy of the band and his longtime fans are foremost in Jeff's mind today — and while he is so sorry that he cannot perform, he knows that he must focus on his health and rehabilitation at this time.'
Later that day, organizers updated the announcement to confirm that the entire July 13 program would be canceled following Lynne's withdrawal. The lineup was set to include special guests The Doobie Brothers, Steve Winwood and Dhani Harrison. Full refunds will be issued to ticket holders.
'Tonight's performance marks the final night of an incredible edition of BST Hyde Park and we look forward to seeing everyone next year,' the updated statement said.
Saturday's lineup featured performances by Stevie Wonder, Ezra Collective, Thee Sacred Souls, Elmiene, Corinne Bailey Rae, and others.
Jeff Lynne's ELO concert at BST Hyde Park was announced in October 2024 and billed as the group's final performance following their Over and Out farewell tour in North America and a run of dates in the U.K. On Thursday (July 10), the act's second-to-last concert at Manchester's Co-op Live was canceled at the last minute, with audience members already seated in the venue.

Nick Offerman finds meaning in the "Smurfs'" village: "We require diversity to make a strong community"
Actor Nick Offerman brings his signature deadpan delivery to the animated world as Ken, Papa Smurf's brother, in the upcoming "Smurfs" movie hitting theaters Friday. The "Parks and Recreation" star said he developed his distinctive comedic timing from an early age. "When I was a kid in the Catholic church, they had we do the readings of the gospel," Offerman said. "I learned then that if I gave it some gravitas, the congregation would be moved. But if I turned it up just a little bit, my cousins would laugh ... that was where I discovered deadpan." Offerman recorded his voice work separately from co-star John Goodman, who voices Papa Smurf, due to modern animation practices that became more common after COVID-19. "I was shooting a show in Budapest last year, and so I recorded a bunch of my sessions from a studio in Budapest," he said. "John was recording his from London and New Orleans. Eventually, you hear each other when you start to get all the recordings together." The actor found deeper meaning in the film's central message about community and belonging. "The thing I love the most about it is no-name smurf is on this quest to find out what his place is, trying to find himself," Offerman explained. "The message is that everybody, you know, that we require diversity to make a strong community or family or village of smurfs." He said that self-discovery comes through connection with others rather than isolation. "You don't learn what your special talent is looking at your phone, or looking in the mirror," Offerman said. "You learn from your community. They will tell you what they need from you, and that's how you discover what your power is." "Smurfs" is distributed by Paramount Pictures, which is part of CBS' parent company, Paramount Global. "Smurfs" hits theaters on July 18.

No. 1 and Hundreds of Weeks on the Charts Ultraviolence has already ruled both the Official Albums chart and the Official Physical Albums ranking in the past, and it peaked at No. 5 on the list of the bestselling collections of any kind throughout the U.K. Del Rey has kept Ultraviolence on the Official Albums Sales tally for 91 weeks, while it has ranked as one of the bestselling physical projects for 121 frames. It's only managed 29 stays on the main albums list so far, but it adds to that sum every once in a while, and it was last seen on the Official Albums chart in January of this year. Born to Die Still Dominates Born to Die is still the big winner when it comes to Del Rey's catalog in the U.K. Even as Ultraviolence returns, its predecessor appears on five rankings, and it lives inside the top 40 on all of them. Born to Die improves its standing on all but the Official Albums Streaming chart, where it drops three spots to No. 34. That breakout set, which dropped in 2012 and turned Del Rey into a household name all around the world, currently sits highest on the Official Vinyl Albums tally, where it jumps from No. 33 to No. 19, as sales of the classic on wax have apparently grown considerably from one week to the next.
