India has made huge leap in missile technology: Former DRDO chairman

Dr G Satheesh Reddy COIMBATORE: India has reduced its missile production turnaround time from 10-12 years to 2-3 years, making a huge leap in technology, said Dr G Satheesh Reddy, president of the Aeronautical Society of India and former secretary of Directorate of Defence Research & Development and chairman of DRDO . 'This enables us to stand on a par with developed countries like the US, Russia and China though these countries are one to two decades ahead of us," he told TOI on the sidelines of a programme in Coimbatore on Saturday. "India is a missile power. India is actively developing hypersonic missiles and air-to-ground-borne missiles like the BrahMos,' he said. He said India has 300-400 drone manufacturing companies with nearly 25,000 AI engineers in the southern region. They are capable of making the world use products made in India. "So far, India was working for others, getting their products. Now India has to make them get our products and also get them to work for us," he said. Earlier, addressing at the Academia-Industry Meet 2025 for Aerospace & Defence, hosted by the Kumaraguru Centre for Industrial Research & Innovation in association with the Aeronautical Society of India, he highlighted four key takeaways from Operation Sindoor. First, the Indian armed forces have gained confidence in indigenous technologies. Second, it boosted the morale of the country. Third, the industry has witnessed success, which will increase orders. Lastly, the world has seen India's capabilities, which is expected to increase export orders as well.

"We gave factories to Bihar, but NDA hasn't done anything in last 20 years": RJD's Rabri Devi

Patna (Bihar) [India], July 5 (ANI): Former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD leader Rabri Devi on Saturday criticised the ruling NDA government-led by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, claiming that they have not done anything in the last 20 years. Addressing the people on the Rashtriya Janata Dal's foundation day today, Rabri Devi said that they had given factories to Bihar, but the NDA government had not done anything. 'Unemployment in Bihar is not a new issue; the government has not done anything in the last 20 years. We gave factories to Bihar, but these (NDA) people didn't do anything. If they had done work for the development, why are they roaming around now? If they had done work, they wouldn't have needed this,' the RJD leader said. Earlier today, Tejashwi Yadav congratulated Lalu Prasad Yadav for being elected unopposed as the National President of the party. He said the party has completed 28 years with the support of the people and the hard work of its members. Speaking at the party's Foundation Day event, Tejashwi said, 'On behalf of all the people of Bihar, I congratulate RJD chief Lalu Ji for being elected unopposed as the National President of our party. The party has completed 28 years and has now entered its 29th year. This milestone has been achieved because of your love, support, and hard work. The party has always stood strong with Lalu Ji, and for that, we are thankful to every worker of our party.' Yadav said the goal is not just to form a government but to build a better Bihar with progress, unity, and development for all. 'As we head towards the upcoming elections, only raising slogans won't be enough; we need a revolution. This revolution must be visible not just in words but in results. Along with forming a government, we must also build a better Bihar (sarkar ke sath sath, Bihar bhi banana hai). With your strong support, we aim to create a new Bihar, one where there is progress, harmony, and development for all,' Yadav said. Yadav stated that Bihar requires a government that prioritises education, healthcare, employment, irrigation, and justice. He said real change is needed, and everyone, including farmers, workers, youth, and people from all communities, must come together to replace the current government. 'We want a government that focuses on education, healthcare, employment, irrigation, and justice. Whether it is labourers, the elderly, farmers, youth, or people from any caste, community, or religion, especially the backward and tribal communities, we must work together to bring real change and remove the current government,' Tejashwi added. Rs 105000000000: India inks big deal for armoured vehicles, deadly missiles and..., bad news for Pakistan, China due to...

New Delhi: India's defense sector, which showed its strength to the whole world through Operation Sindoor, is developing rapidly. Seeing India's growing military power, Pakistan and China are bound to sweat. Which defence deal is approved? On Thursday, July 3, the Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh has approved 10 big defense deals worth about Rs 1.05 lakh crore. The biggest thing is that this entire deal is going to be done under the 'Buy Indian IDDM' category so that defense manufacturing is promoted in the country. This means that now products designed and developed in India will be purchased. This will increase the manufacture of defense equipment in the country itself. What are the provisions? The Defense Ministry has approved a big deal of 'military hardware' and 'platforms' worth about Rs 1.05 lakh crore. The Defense Acquisition Council (DAC) headed by Defense Minister Rajnath Singh approved these procurement projects. According to the official statement, the DAC approved the purchase of armored recovery vehicles, electronic warfare systems, integrated common inventory management system for the three armies and surface-to-air missiles. How will it make Indian forces more powerful? The statement said that these purchases will further improve the operational preparedness of the armed forces. The purchase of 'Mine Counter Measure Vessel', 'Super Rapid Gun Mount' and 'Submersible Autonomous Vessel' was also approved. The ministry said, 'These purchases will help in reducing potential threats to naval and merchant ships.'
