NFL Top 100 Players of 2025: Steelers' Cam Heyward selection up 15 spots than last year
Heading into his 15th season, Heyward was selected as the 83rd-best player in 2025 — up 15 spots from his selection at No. 98 last year.
Heyward's 2025 ranking still doesn't do his play justice, as he seemingly reversed the hands of father time last season, accumulating eight sacks, 12 tackles for loss, and 20 QB hits — leading to his fourth First-Team All-Pro selection.
Even at 36 years old, Heyward is one-of-one at the defensive tackle position in the NFL — but it's his wisdom and veteran experience that will be invaluable to the development of two Steelers rookies: first-round DT Derrick Harmon and fifth-round DT Yahya Black.
Heyward isn't looking to simply pass the torch in 2025 — he has Super Bowl aspirations alongside what's shaping up to be an incredibly stacked Steelers roster.

Former Kansas City Chiefs TE Baylor Cupp to sign with the Baltimore Ravens
The Kansas City Chiefs made a few moves after the 2025 NFL draft on May 1st to accommodate incoming rookies. Former Texas Tech Red Raiders tight end Baylor Cupp was one of the releases and has reportedly found a new home during training camp. According to a report from CBS Sports, Cupp is signing with the Baltimore Ravens as they deal with injuries at the tight end position. Starting tight end Isaiah Likely notably went down with a foot injury in camp, requiring surgery. Cupp appeared in one game during the 2024 season but primarily spent the year on the practice squad after initially signing as an undrafted free agent. During Cupp's two seasons at Patrick Mahomes' alma mater, Texas Tech, in 2022 and 2023, he appeared in 24 games, tallying 23 catches for 246 yards and four touchdowns. The Chiefs have seen immediate progress from their 2025 undrafted free agent tight end, Jake Briningstool. The rookie from Clemson has made impressive plays in camp and is considered a serious contender to make the final roster. Patriots draft bust makes highlight reel catch at Chiefs practice
Former New England Patriots wide receiver Tyquan Thornton is making an impact in training camp for the Kansas City Chiefs. Fans have been buzzing about his incredible corner end zone reception on a throw from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes at a recent practice. Mahomes threw a perfect corner pass behind the defender, and Thornton went up to get the ball, while also making sure to tap both toes inbounds before falling out. The Patriots selected Thornton in the second round of the 2022 NFL draft. He had a disappointing run with the team and was ultimately released last November. In the same month, he signed with the Chiefs' practice squad. He also signed a reserve/future contract with the team in February. Thornton has 39 receptions for 385 yards and two touchdowns during his three-year NFL career. It looks like he's off to a good start with the Chiefs to change the narrative surrounding his name after a failed run in New England. There is still plenty of time for him to turn things around considering he is only 24 years old. Thornton has solid physical abilities, most notably his height and speed. He could have an opportunity to thrive in one of the most explosive offensive systems in the league. Follow Patriots Wire on Twitter and Facebook. Nepo baby or late bloomer? Former 6th rounder has front office, Cowboys coaching connect
The football world wipe a falling tear from their collective eye when Deuce Vaughn became a National Football Leaguer. Late into Day 3 of the 2023 NFL draft, the yet-to-be selected diminutive backfield threat received a call from his dad. Only this wasn't a call to tell him to keep his head up. Chris Vaughn works in the front office of the Dallas Cowboys and was calling to tell his son he was being selected and brought back to North Texas. The Cowboys are a family owned and operated franchise, so nepotism is hardly looked at as a negative experience. But following that emotional moment that was shared far and wide across the football universe, things haven't gone that well for Vaughn. He didn't mesh well with the run game that head coach Mike McCarthy was running. He appeared in just seven games as a rookie, with a woeful 1.7 yards per carry. Appearing in seven games again his second year, his average blossomed to a respectable 4.1 yards a carry, but his impact was still minimal. With Brian Schottenheimer moving up to the head coach role, he brought in changes to the staff. Klayton Adams was brought in from Arizona to be the new OC, and Vaughn's former college OC Conor Riley was hired as the new OL coach. The changes seem to have suited Vaughn, as he was the teams most impressive back through the first few days of training camp. A hamstring injury halted that though, and potentially threatens Vaughn's chances to make the 53-man roster. Rundown Position: Running Back Age: 24 Height: 5-foot-5 Weight: 179 pounds Hometown: Fayetteville, AR High School: Cedar Ridge (TX) College: Kansas State (College Highlights) Draft: 2023 Sixth Round (No. 212 Overall) Acquired: 2023 draft Contract: Four-year contract (2023), $4 million 2025 Base Salary: $1 million, no guarantees Career Earnings: $1.8 million (per Over The Cap) Profile Vaughn backed up several players last year and though Ezekiel Elliott and Rico Dowdle are no longer in town, the team signed Javonte Williams and Miles Sanders, as well as drafted Jaydon Blue in the fifth round. Along with an apparent renewed commitment to fullback Hunter Luepke, it makes for a difficult proposition for Vaughn to remain with the team on the 53-man roster. He'd need an extraordinary training camp, and that's what he was having until the injury sidelined him. His void was filled by Blue, who began to excel as the pads came on, leaving Vaughn's role a question mark, made more murky by the staff's usage of WR Kavontae Turpin out of the backfield. Vaughn will really need to impress in the preseason to keep his dream of being a meaningful contributor to the Cowboys alive.
