A message written on a toilet roll tube in the 1980s was found by a couple moving into a new home - and then they tracked down the author.Aged seven, a youngster named Emma had penned a "sweet" note on the cardboard tube saying her name and birthday, before adding: "Hope you enjoy staying here, love from a friend."Charlotte England-Black moved into the end-of-terrace house in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire, in February and while working in the loft, found the note. After posting about the discovery on Facebook on Friday, she tracked down the author - Emma Smith, who is now 43 and still lives in Nottingham.
Emma, who said she could not remember writing the note, said the discovery was "a funny old blast from the past" which gave her "goose pimples".
She said: "I don't remember doing the toilet roll thing and why I chose the toilet roll, we'll forever be wondering."We have really fond memories of that house. I had amazing wallpaper in my bedroom of Tom and Jerry, we had a duck called Donald, my dad had a little boat that he restored down the side of the house."It was a lovely place to spend those years."
Charlotte, 30, said she thought Emma's note was "so sweet"."There was a lot of stuff up there, but I found amongst it this toilet roll note," she said."I thought, I bet she could easily be found as it'd be nice for her."It's just a connection with the past."Charlotte said she planned to return the tube to her newly-boarded loft to pass the message on to a future homeowner."I don't know if we're still here in another 35 years, but whoever's in the house then might find it," she added.

Freeview channel brings back beloved British sitcom as viewers cry ‘at last something decent on TV'

A FREEVIEW channel is bringing a beloved British sitcom back to TV screens this summer. The 1970s sitcom was first broadcast on ITV, and is now being repeated on That's TV. 3 3 Man About The House was considered to be daring at the time when it was first released, as it featured a man living in a flat with two single women. The show tracks the chaotic lives of Chrissy and Jo and their new flatmate Robin, who ends up moving in with them after they find him asleep in their bathtub following a wild farewell party for their previous flatmate. It stars Richard O'Sullivan, Paula Wilcox and Sally Thomset and aired for six series from 1973 to 1976. Two spin-off series were later made, George and Mildred and Robin's nest, and a film version of the series was released in 1974. In the US, the series was remade as Three's Company in 1977. That's TV can be found on channel 56 on your Freeview box, and often plays re-runs of beloved shows, such as Steptoe and Son and Benidorm. Sharing a clip of the show on Facebook, the TV channel said: "Man about the house, this summer on That's TV. TV fans raced to the comments section of the video, to share their excitement at the show's return. One person said: "Great comedy, watched it so many times, never gets old." A second person said: "At last something decent! "Now get George and Mildred aswell." A third person said: "Brilliant theme music. "Such rarity these days." A fourth added: "Cannot wait."

Heartbroken Jack Fincham reveals cruel ‘loved one' branded him ‘a fat 33 year old loser' as he makes boxing comeback

JACK Fincham has revealed a cruel 'loved one' once branded him a 'fat 33-year-old loser' as he makes his boxing career comeback. Love Island legend Jack, 34, has battled a number of crippling personal issues in recent years, having opened up about living with bulimia for two decades as well as his addictions to drugs, alcohol and gambling. 5 5 5 Despite the hurdles, he's been working hard to relaunch his boxing career and recently revealed he'd signed a new contract with a sports management company. Now Jack has shared the heartbreaking reason behind his determination to turn his life around. Writing on Instagram, he said: 'I got called a fat 33 year old loser, a s*** boxer and everybody knows I'm s***. 'Imagine that from a 'loved one'. Only makes me have more heart and determination. 'I'll never stop training as hard as I can and I will reach my goal of southern area champion in professional boxing.' Jack added: 'Hurt my feelings but [I'm] using that as fuel. The backing I have, I can't lose now. My trainers believe in me so I believe in myself. Sticks and stones.' Opening up about his long battle with bulimia recently, Jack told how he'd go days without eating and, at one point, weighed just over eight stone. Speaking exclusively to The Sun, he said: 'I have been a bulimic for 19 years, bingeing on food and then being sick. 'There have been days when I have ordered a McDonald's breakfast on Uber Eats, then gone to the Co-op and bought 12 bags of salt- and-vinegar McCoy's crisps, then had bags and bags of fizzy belt sweets. 'I have had two large Domino's pizzas with all the sides. It makes me feel ashamed. "There have been so many times that I have gone to the garage and got the same thing — a Ginsters Cornish pasty, one of their peppered steak slices, a sausage roll, bags of sweets and more McCoy's. 'I'd eat it all, then go to the downstairs toilet at my mum's — because nobody could hear me, as it was in the hall, next to the front door. I know it's gross, but for years I didn't actually think I had a problem.' He added: "I'd go three days with hardly any food and was so starving, my mum asked my boxing club if I could eat. 'They told her I could have a jacket potato with beans. I weighed just 52kg." Jack won Love Island in 2018 with ex-girlfriend Dani Dyer. The couple split just nine months later. Since then Jack has been in an on/off relationship with former Towie star Chloe Brockett, with him confirming last month they'd split for the eighth time. 5
