Olympo – Season 1 Episode 1 'This Is Not Olympics Level' Recap & Review
Episode 1 of Olympo season 1 starts with a girl working out. Her instructors remark that she is doing better than they expected. She is surpassing all her records and seems locked in. Elsewhere, two girls are also exercising together. After setting a new record, they start celebrating.
A man and a woman approach them and invite them to their High Performance Centre. It is a training centre where athletes do nothing but train. Zoe is not too excited about the offer, but Yaiza is jumping for joy. To celebrate, Zoe starts smoking a blunt. They promise it is the last smoke they will have. The scene cuts to an accident scene and Zoe yelling, 'Yaiza !'
Presently, we see Zoe's parents driving her to the HPC. She begs them not to leave her there, but they ignore her. They want her to take advantage of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. While standing there, looking lost, Zoe meets Nuria. Nuria is friendly and offers to give Zoe a tour. Zoe worries if she will get enough training since a lot of the athletes there are good-looking.
All things considered, this looks like a dream training centre for most athletes. The centre has all the top-tier resources needed to train a star athlete. Nuria introduces Zoe to her best friend, Amaia. Amaia is the star of the artistic swimming team. Everyone excitedly welcomes Nuria back, and we learn she was out to treat a shoulder sprain.
As the tour continues, we are introduced to Christian, Amaia's boyfriend. Christian's brother is also a former Olympo star. Christian hopes to live up to his legacy. There is Roque; he is gay and friends with both Christian and Amaia. There seems to be tension between Jennifer and Zoe. It seems they know each other since Jenifer brings up Zoe's records.
Everyone seems shocked to know Zoe broke a record and might be heading to the Olympics. As they talk, people start rushing towards the windows.
It turns out a few people from Olympo are at the centre to give some athletes sponsorship. They will only pick three athletes, and everyone thinks that Amaia will be their top pick. Isabel, the director, welcomes the Olympo group, and there seems to be something going on between one of the Olympos and Nuria.
While the Olympo people settle in, Christian and Amaia sneak off to make out. As they get busy, Amaia's mom calls. She ignores the call, but her mom keeps calling back. In the end, she gives up and picks up the call. Her mom, a former failed athlete, advises Amaia to cut Nuria loose. She calls Nuria to lose weight and claims she is holding back Amaia. Amaia tries to defend Nuria, but her mom says the latter was on vacation. The call spoils the mood, and Nuria walks in on the couple. Amaia confronts her about the truth of where she has been for the last week.
Nuria refuses to tell her, and Amaia orders her to go to the physio. Amaia refuses to team up with Nuria and looks like a fool in front of the federation. Nuria tries to convince her she is ready, but Amaia doesn't let up. Later, the coach notices Nuria is missing and sends someone to get her. In the meantime, she has Fatima do the duet with Amaia.
Meanwhile, Zoe struggles to settle in and messes up during training. Her coach teams her up with Renata. Unfortunately, Renata refuses to acknowledge Zoe or even talk to her.
On the football team, Roque warms up with Charlie, who is homophobic. Christian nearly gets injured, and the coach gives him the bad news that he is cut from the programme. The coach, Javier, thinks his physique and strength are an issue. All these unfold in front of the Olympo federation team. Isabel sees Nuria hugging Hugo, one of the guys from Olympo. Nuria insinuates that Amaia might be onto them, and the guy questions if it is time to come clean.
Hugo later approaches Zoe after she falls while doing a high jump. Within a few minutes, everyone learns that Zoe is the first sponsorship pick. Amaia acts like she is okay, but goes to her room. Christian arrives to tell her about being cut from the team, but she jumps his bones. They end up having sex, and Amaia runs late for her training session. Unfortunately, Christian is unable to tell her that he is leaving.
Amaia returns to training, and the coach warns her that Nuria was not at the physio. The coach is ready to cut Nuria off the team if she doesn't up her game. They begin practising the duet, pairing Amaia with Peque. Peque loses her breath, and Amaia loses her patience with her. Peque storms off, and Amaia shortly follows her.
As Amaia tries to comfort Peque, a drug bottle falls and rolls to where she is standing. Amaia realises that Peque has been doping and confronts her. Peque begs her not to tell the coach. Against her better judgment, Amaia keeps Peque's secret, and they return to the training session.
On the other side of the centre, Roque secretly hooks up with a guy and takes an afterglow selfie. Roque suggests posting it on social media, but the guy refuses and leaves. Later, Roque vents to Christian, and the latter sneakily grabs Roque's phone and posts the picture. The conversation turns to Christian's dilemma and how he is yet to talk to Amaia about leaving the centre. He leaves the next day and hopes to talk to Amaia after training.
At the gym, Zoe tries to get some exercise while Renata continues to ignore her. Sebas and Charlie corner her and express their frustration with her getting the scholarship. Nuria helps Zoe out and tells her to be careful of the jealous people at the centre. Zoe can't understand why everyone is obsessed with winning and dislikes the centre. Nuria reveals that Amaia helped her a lot when she came to the centre.
Nuria urges Zoe to find her person at the centre. This triggers Zoe, and she packs her things and announces to Renata that she is leaving. She doesn't get far before Hugo finds her and brings up the ongoing court battle after the accident. He insists that Zoe is heading for the Olympics, and Olympo wants to help her. He advises her to sign the sponsorship contract quickly and return to the centre. He doesn't even give her time to read the contract. He simply assures her that there is nothing to worry about.
At the centre, Fatima talks to Nuria about the ongoing duet practice. Amaia is having everyone but Nuria try out for the duet. Zoe arrives to find Nuria getting into the water to challenge Amaia. However, Amaia is not pleased when Nuria pulls off the set. She demands that she do ten extra spins.
Of course, Amaia thinks Nuria can't do it. Nuria accepts the challenge and does ten flying leg spins. Sadly, she goes unconscious and starts dropping towards the swimming pool floor. Amaia and Zoe jump into the pool to save her.
The Episode Review
This sports drama barely manages to grab our attention from the first episode, and a lot is going on with each character. Roque is sleeping with a closeted guy, but that doesn't excuse what he and Christian did. By posting that picture, they undoubtedly outed the guy. This guy may be a piece of work, but there is never an excuse to out someone, especially after they told you they don't feel comfortable coming out of the closet.
We have Christian, who is preparing to leave the centre since he doesn't meet the qualifications. It is a pity that he won't be able to honour his brother's legacy. However, Christian is also worried about the future of his relationship with Amaia once he leaves.
Speaking of Amaia, she comes off as obsessed with winning in this episode. We don't know much about her background, but she seems to take Nuria's secret personally. From the opening scene, we know that Nuria was training and not on medical leave. Hugo might be behind this, and they are keeping the truth from Amaia. Unfortunately, Nuria had an accident, and her fate remains unclear. Of course, we can't help but wonder whether Amaia pushed her too hard or if there is something else at play here.
This episode also touched on doping and the pressure athletes have to perform well every time. Perhaps this is what Zoe finds overwhelming. Everyone is out to win, disregarding everything else. Zoe lost her fighting spirit after the accident with her friend. What happened to her friend, and why is Zoe facing a court charge? Hugo made her sign the contract too quickly, and it might bite her in the future. There is something off about Hugo.
Lastly, now that Zoe is at the centre, will she find her competitive spirit again?

Nathaniel Collins chasing Euro glory as world title shot moves closer
Fresh from stopping compatriot Lee McGregor with a devastating show of power at the Hydro just a few months ago, Collins' career trajectory propels forward another notch now when he gets to headline a Scots-stacked card at the Braehead Arena on October 4. On the line this time is Cristobal Lorente's European strap and, perhaps more importantly, pole position for a crack at the WBC featherweight title where Collins sits at No.2 in a forever fluctuating picture of contenders jostling for prominence. The card is being billed as 'The Next King of Scotland' with the Bearsden southpaw touted as the successor to Josh Taylor in that regard following the latter's recent enforced retirement from the sport after 10 years at the top. Just as Taylor was in the coda of his career, Collins is backed by Queensberry Promotions who brought their crew north earlier today – noticeably minus Warren – for the official launch press conference held in the luxurious and ornate surrounds of the Trades Hall in Glasgow city centre. It was an event thrown open to the public, meaning anyone could have walked in off the street, but the room wasn't exactly crammed to overflowing with boxing fans or even just curious Glaswegians doing a nosey. Taylor's impressive amateur career, that saw him box at the London Olympics in 2012 and then win Commonwealth Games gold in Glasgow in 2014, meant he already had a significant public profile before he turned over into the professional ranks. Collins doesn't have that to fall back on and you suspect he could have wandered down a bustling Buchanan Street after completing his press conference duties without being overly troubled for selfies. Warren is no doubt aware of that which perhaps partly explains why he has been busy on social media imploring Glaswegians to 'get behind your man' as tickets go on sale. In these days of boxing being broadcast across multiple different platforms – this one will be shown live on DAZN – it is perhaps harder for fighters, especially across a relatively small Scottish market, to become household names but there is little doubt that the Sam Kynoch-managed Collins deserves wider recognition for all he has achieved in a relatively short spell of time. Victory over Lorente could be significant on that front, especially if it leads to a world title fight against one of the leading contenders in the United States, and Collins knows he needs to make the most of this opportunity. 'This is a big show for me and it's been many years in the making,' he said. 'It's been a quick turnaround as eight or nine weeks ago I was on the undercard of Josh's last fight and now I'm going to be headlining my own show in a couple of months. 'This is what dreams are made of and what every boxer hopes to get to. I feel like I'm getting to the peak of my powers. I've sacrificed everything for this life and that shows in the ring. That last fight [against McGregor] was up there with one of the best moments of my life. Walking out into the Hydro, Gerry Cinnamon blasting and everyone jamming along - I can still picture it now. 'I just hope Braehead is the same and we can bring the same noise. What a treat we've got for all the Glasgow boxing fans.' Lorente played his part in helping to support the promotion, travelling from Spain to Glasgow with his European belt in his suitcase. That prompted a bit of good-natured back and forth banter – conducted through a translator – of Collins telling the champion just to leave it here in Scotland, and the Spaniard responding that he quite fancied gettings his hands on Collins' WBC silver strap. Lorente's record merits respect. Having defeated Italian Mauro Forte in Albania to win the belt last summer, he went on to beat countryman Francesco Grandelli to retain it and then drew with another Spaniard – Ruben Gill – last month to remain the man to beat. Collins was respectful of that record but unwavering in backing his own abilities. 'He has every reason to be confident as he's European champion,' added the Scot. 'You don't do that if you're a bum – he's beaten credible opponents. 'But all my opponents have been confident and all have been dealt with. It makes no difference to me how confident he is as I know my own abilities.'

Charlotte Crosby shows off her amazing figure as she models an array of stylish bikinis during sun-soaked family holiday in Spain
Charlotte Crosby showed off her incredible figure in an array of stylish bikinis as she posed for a new sizzling Instagram video in Spain on Tuesday. The TV personality, 35, looked amazing as she modelled an eye catching yellow two-piece during the sun-soaked family holiday. Charlotte kept cool by styling her long dark tresses in a high bun as she posed for a mirror selfie in the £32 swimwear from Cupshe. She later slipped into a trendy white bikini, which boasted high rise bottoms and a halter neckline, as she through her arms into the arm. The mother-of-two looked in good spirits as she beamed for the camera before her two-year-old daughter Alba chased her off screen. Charlotte, who is also mum to six-month-old daughter Pixi, later changed into a red bikini which featured gold detailing. For her final swimwear look, the reality star displayed her curves in a one shoulder blue and white gingham one-piece. She wrote: 'Life's better in a bikini ☀️ if you missed my stories check them out NOW!' It comes after Charlotte claimed she feels like she's 'on the verge of a nervous breakdown every day' due to her jam-packed schedule. The former Geordie Shore star balances life as an influencer with filming a reality show and managing her businesses, as well as being a mum to her two young daughters. And in an interview with new! magazine, Charlotte bemoaned how tough she finds it juggling motherhood with her numerous jobs, remarking that she doesn't believe there's many people who could 'deal' with what she does. Speaking candidly to the publication, she said: 'It feels like I'm on the verge of a nervous breakdown every day. 'I've got two kids, I'm filming a TV show for Paramount Plus a reality show about my life, and I'm bringing out this book. I've got three businesses.' The star went on to suggest that not a lot of people could cope with the stress of the amount of work like she does, adding: 'It's not for the faint of heart. I think only a small percentage of people could deal with this.' But while she struggles to keep all the plates spinning in her hugely hectic life, Charlotte told how her girls bring her much joy amid all the stress. The reality star shares her two daughters Alba and /pixi with her fiancé Jake Ankers. She noted how her girls are 'angels' and when they're around, she doesn't have moments where she feels 'angry' and instead is left in 'fits of laughter', especially with her eldest. Earlier this year, Charlotte broke down in tears on Instagram as she candidly opened up about struggling with health problems and juggling two children. Charlotte couldn't hold back her tears as she told her 8.7million followers that 'not everything is always perfect'. She revealed that she has been having back problems and has been struggling to hear out of her ear as she headed to a number of medical appointments. Her day wasn't so smooth sailing as her baby girl had 'thrown up all over herself' making her late as she headed back inside her home to clean her up. Charlotte said: 'Oh god, I'm just having a little cry and I just thought I'd come on here to show ya that not everything is always perfect. 'This is so stupid, I've got a back appointment that I was going to try and make because it is killing and I have loads of appointments to go to so my back and then my ear because I feel like I can't hear properly. 'Then I've got to go to work all day and honestly I was bossing it about to leave and then I literally was making good time and was going to be on time for once and then I looked into the car seat and Pixi had thrown up all over herself. 'It's all in her hair still so I ran back in quickly to do a change and Alba is still sitting in the car waiting for us. It's meant to Alba's day off today but I'm just dragging her around with me and I just broke into tears.' Charlotte revealed she thinks she was crying due to 'stress' and that she has been trying to 'do her best' looking after her daughters while business owner Jake is away working.

Mauro Icardi killed and ATE pigeon after using homemade slingshot at Barcelona academy, claims former team-mate
MAURO ICARDI left Barcelona stars stunned with his wild antics during his time at the club's academy, says a former team-mate. The Argentine joined La Masia as a fifteen-year-old after being spotted playing for a club from the Canary Islands. 1 Sergi Gomez, who went on to play for Sevilla and Espanyol, shared an apartment with Icardi, future Stoke star Marc Muniesa and Champions League winner Sergi Roberto. And he told Spanish podcast Post United: "Mauro arrived at La Masía and we were teammates for three or four seasons. "During one of those seasons, we shared an apartment. One day, he said to me, 'Sergi, come with me to the park next door.' "He was carrying a Y-shaped piece of wood that he had cut the day before, with a rubber band tied to it. "He had made a homemade slingshot. We went to the park, and he pointed to a very tall pine tree and said, 'See up there?' "He grabbed a rock, stretched the rubber band, and... boom. "He brought down the pigeon from a height of 20 or 30 metres. "We went back, he plucked its feathers, threaded a wire through it, lit a fire, and ate it in front of me. "I remember thinking: 'What awaits me if we start like this?'" Mauro Icardi shows his skills at the Barcelona youth academy Icardi, now 32, is currently going through divorce proceedings with wife and former agent Wanda Nara. The striker accuses Nara of infidelity, which could lead to her having to pay alimony if found to be the reason for the divorce. The estranged couple have two daughters together - Francesca, 10, and Isabella, 8. But Gomez was positive about his former team-mate as a person. He said: "We lived through a lot together, and if he sees me, he'll know that I hold that in my heart."
