CLOT and adidas Bring "Patchwork" Detailing to the Superstar
WhenCLOTandadidasannounced themselves as partners once more, the two quickly made it clear that they had plenty of ideas to work with. However, the sheer output from the two in less than two years has been impressive, especially when considering that they've continued to rework just three sneakers: theSuperstar,Gazelle, andStan Smith.
The duo introduced theStan Smith Espadrilleearlier this month and now we have a preview of their next remix of the Superstar, a 'Patchwork' colorway. This new composition for the shelltoe sneaker sees it pair various patterns and textures together, including houndstooth, suede, and corduroy. Its color palette shifts between forest green, orange, off-white, and various brown hues while golden nods to CLOT come courtesy of the midfoot's lateral text and the shoe's heel branding. Meanwhile, the stitched sole unit features the duo's ripple sole finish, elevating the sneaker.
At the time of writing, neither CLOT nor adidas have discussed their upcoming 'Patchwork' rendition of the Superstar sneaker. Stay tuned for updates, including official launch details, as we expect it to arrive on shelves by the end of the year via adidas, JUICE, and select retailers.

Will LIV Golf attract 15K fans for team championship in Detroit? Organizers hope so
Three weeks before LIV Golf makes its Michigan debut, Cam Smith already knows what to expect. 'I've played enough in the States, I guess, to know that I guess the further north you go, the rowdier the fans get, I think, is about right,' said Smith, the Australian captain of the Ripper GC team. 'So, expecting a pretty rowdy week, you know, with the concerts and everything. Hopefully, we get some big crowds and it should be a fun week.' During a virtual news conference Wednesday, July 30, Smith was joined by Louis Oosthuizen, the South African captain of Stinger GC, to preview the season-ending LIV Golf Team Championship Michigan, which will be played Aug. 22-24 at The Cardinal at St. John's in Plymouth. Twelve four-player teams will kick off the action the first day. Each match will consist of two singles matches and one alternate-shot foursome match, with three total points up for grabs. The tournament will be run in a bracket-style format with quarterfinals scheduled the first day, semifinals the second day and the final on the third day. The Ryder Cup-style event is yet another difference between the upstart LIV Golf tour, now in its fourth season, and the established PGA Tour. LIV promotes itself as a livelier and more relaxed experience with players allowed to wear shorts and music playing around the course during each round. The deep pockets of Saudi Arabia's Investment Fund, which primarily bankrolls the tour, has spent considerable money to lure former PGA Tour stars and major winners like Bryson DeChambeau, Jon Rahm, Brooks Koepka, Dustin Johnson and Phil Mickelson. Those five players alone reportedly received contracts that totaled nearly $1 billion. The star power plus the carnival-like atmosphere that will feature live performances by "Imagine Dragons" after Saturday's round and by house group "Swedish House Mafia" on Sunday could help attract the 10,000-15,000 fans organizers are expecting. 'It feels like you had a festival,' Oosthuizen said of LIV events. 'It feels like … there's a concert. Some have more than one concert and music. You'll see a lot of younger people. They're enjoying (the tournament) outside of golf, not just the golf. 'And, you know, that's the biggest thing to attract people that (don't) really know anything, a lot, about golf, and getting them to see the top players play the game, and then also enjoy family time with the fan zone and everything else we do outside of just golf. So it is different. It's a different experience.' Contact Carlos Monarrez at cmonarrez@ and follow him on X @cmonarrez.

'Slow Horses' just got a worrying development — but I'm confident the spy thriller will survive
"Slow Horses" season 5 will officially mark the end of an era for the Apple TV Plus spy thriller. In an interview with Deadline, showrunner Will Smith revealed he's stepping down from the show at the end of season 5. Which, since that season has now entered the post-production phase of its life cycle, means his time with the show has come to an end. 'There were certainly some private tears,' the writer told Deadline. 'Series [season] 5, it doesn't end things by any means, but it concludes certain story arcs that started in season 1, so it felt like a good moment to hand over the show.' In retrospect, we already had some hints that this news was coming. When Apple announced "Slow Horses" season 6, the press release didn't mention Smith anywhere. But given that his comments at the time indicated plenty more of Gary Oldman as Jackson Lamb was to come, nobody batted an eye. But when Apple also left Smith's name out of the season 7 announcement, that caught some people's attention, myself included. Still, it was brushed aside as Smith simply stepping back on the writing of that season, rather than away from the show entirely. Still, it seems Smith has the right perspective on the situation. "I do want to emphasize, it's not in any way that I thought I'm now too good for 'Slow Horses,'" he stated. "It's much more that I want to keep being good enough for 'Slow Horses.' And I would never want it to be like, 'Oh, that one wasn't quite there.' It's just that risk of just pushing it too far. And I just felt, I just want to go when I know I'm still delivering my very, very best for all the people that work on the show.' Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. Look, there's no beating around the bush: Smith was not Slough House material. He was at the top of his game, unlike the sometimes bumbling rejects or washed-up spies he wrote about. He even finally took home an Emmy last year for Outstanding Writing for a Drama Series. Apple TV Plus is the home of original shows like "Severance," "Ted Lasso" and "Slow Horses." You also get original movies, with "F1: The Movie" coming later this year. Get your first week free! So losing him could not just be the end of an era for the show — it could mark the beginning of the show's decline. However, I'm hopeful for two reasons. First, with all due respect to Smith, "Slow Horses" is an adaptation, meaning that the source material that originally developed this world and these characters remains unchanged. This isn't like when Benioff and Weiss went off script in "Game of Thrones." Second, Smith has clearly been out of the lead role for a while now, but is only just revealing the news. That leads me to believe that he and the show's production team have a plan in place and people they trust to continue the work at the same caliber once Smith is gone. If it were any other show, I'd be gravely concerned. But "Slow Horses" is such a finely tuned machine — producing three seasons at any given time — that I'm going to trust they know what they are doing until I'm proven otherwise.
