Chubby Checker ‘not invited back' to New York State Fair, his manager says
'Chubby was not invited back,' said Shelly Field, Checker's locally based manager.
She said: 'Unfortunately, Chubby Checker a fan favorite and staple at The New York State Fair over the years will NOT 'twist again, like he did last summer' at this year's New York State Fair. Though fans, friends and local media were hoping to see him at his annual show this summer, fair representatives told his manager that Chubby was not invited back.'
Checker's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame was announced Sunday night, April 27, on American Idol.

No number of cameras and alarm systems are enough to outwit the gangs, according to one pro. I've been told 50 or 60 of these signal-jammer gangs are active in LA and none of them have ever been caught.' Celebrities and athletes are frequent targets, as the public nature of their lives means media-savvy thieves know when they're playing games out-of-town or promoting a movie abroad. They also use drones to surveil targets, according to sources. Such gangs often arrive in the country as tourists, carry out pre- organized burglary sprees, some even stealing to order, and then leave again, with fences moving the stolen goods separately. In 2017, Kendall Jenner had hundreds of thousands of dollars of jewelry stolen from her, in what was reported to be an inside job. As Max Lea, President of Safehouse Security Solutions, told Architectural Digest, 'These crimes are becoming the new normal. People have to change their response.' According to Hollywood Reporter, elaborate security details for celebrities can run six- to seven-figures. Over the years, he's been held up at gunpoint, endured his Toronto home being broken into (where a security guard was shot) and also had his Benedict Canyon mansion burglarized in 2023. On that occasion, officers nabbed a suspect within hours. Those who tip off criminals about whose home is ripe for burglary can be surprisingly close, according to Herzog. A security guard on duty held the intruder at gunpoint until the police arrived to apprehend him. In the case of Tyler Perry, a thermal imaging camera system plus 24/7 security guards managed to chase off intruders from the grounds before they used their bust-in equipment – which included bolt-cutters, a saw and crowbars – to steal the valuables. 'I have retired police cars,' said Herzog, maintaining his cars are near identical to the real thing. 'Nobody is afraid of a security guard. But if there's a police car sitting there? The bad guys say that they don't want to get shot. And if the cop presses one button, there's going to be 100 other cops from all different directions. Criminals don't want to trade freedom or their lives for getting money out of a house.' In 2025, Herzog maintained, anything less than a uniformed cop in the driveway and 'celebrities are easy targets because the word is out, they make [bad] security decisions.'

On Friday, August 1, Lambert will release a brand-new version of Jesus Christ Superstar's 'Heaven on Their Minds,' just ahead of his highly anticipated run as Judas in a three-night production of the rock opera at the Hollywood Bowl, running August 1–3. It also marks a rare collaboration with the show's original composer Andrew Lloyd Webber. 'I was thrilled when Andrew asked me if I wanted to record a studio version of 'Heaven On Their Minds',' Lambert told Variety. 'This is a great way to commemorate my upcoming appearance as Judas and to give fans all around the world a little taste of what will happen onstage at the Hollywood Bowl.'Webber, who receives co-billing as executive producer and arranger, personally invited Lambert to tackle the number that was originally sung by Murray Head in the 1970 concept album and since covered by numerous artists. The new track was produced by Swedish writer-producer Martin Terefe and recorded across four cities, London, New York, Los Angeles, and Nashville, where the sweeping strings were laid down. The release also comes with a 40-second teaser video showing Lambert in the studio, offering fans a first listen to the reimagined track. 'Heaven on Their Minds' is a fan-favorite in the Jesus Christ Superstar catalog, known for its fiery guitar intro and Judas's tortured introspection about the fate of Jesus and the movement they've built. The Hollywood Bowl production promises even more musical firepower: Cynthia Erivo stars in the title role, with Phillipa Soo as Mary Magdalene and Josh Gad as King Herod. The show is directed and choreographed by Sergio Trujillo, with music direction from Stephen Oremus. Lambert recently wowed Broadway audiences as the Emcee in Cabaret.
