Christina Aguilera fans hardly recognise star as she debuts new look and 'ages backwards'

Daily Mirror30-04-2025
Pop star Christina Aguilera has been flooded with compliments as she looked just like she did when she shot to fame 25 years ago as fans says she is aging backwards
Christina Aguilera has surprised her fans with her new appearance as they say she is aging backwards. The pop star, 44, showed off her new style as she took part in a photoshoot.
She appeared to reference her early career as she rocked a dark smokey eye while rocking a gold mini dress. Christina's blonde locks were backcombed and tousled as she held them up in her hands. The Lady Marmalade hitmaker shared a behind the scenes look at the shoot, which showed her styling many different looks. She wrote: "work & play," alongside the post as she gave fans a tease at the upcoming photos.

Her followers were quick to compliment the star, with many referencing how she appears to not have aged a day. One said: "Oh she's a MODEL, she looks like Christina Aguilera 1999."
Another added: "HOW IS SHE BENJAMIN BUTTONING? I've always been such a huge Christina fan and it's been so nice to see her look so happy, healthy and THRIVING lately and this shoot is SO GORGEOUS."
Someone else commented: Queen looking freshhh." A fourth wrote: "Queen aged so well." Another gushed: "Flawless, ageless, eternal Queen."
Christina has long been open about her body image as a public figure. During the pandemic, she dropped 40 pounds (18 kgs) through a combination of diet, exercise and lifestyle changes.
However, the Genie in a Bottle singer revealed she has not always been as body-confident as she is today. In 2021, the five-time Grammy winner opened up about the pressures she felt about her appearance during the 90s.
Speaking to Health Magazine, she admitted: 'I have a hard time looking at the early pictures of myself because I remember feeling so insecure.'

Christina heartbreakingly confessed that she really struggled with body image throughout her twenties. She said: "I would never want to relive my 20s — you're so in your own head and finding your confidence.'
Last year, Christina had unwanted attention as she was accused of using weight loss drugs. She was at workout studio Barry's Bootcamp in West Hollywood to celebrate the 25th anniversary of her self-titled debut album.

The mother-of-two rocked a black bodysuit with thigh-high boots for the event, and her appearance was filmed and shared on social media, prompting an outpouring of messages from her fans.
It left Christina issuing a statement where she said her recent weight loss had nothing to do with focusing on 'being skinny'. She said her mental health had been impacted due to being targeted for her petite frame when she burst onto the music scene 25 years ago.
'When you're a teenager, you have a very different body than when you're in your 20s. I started to fill out, and then that was unacceptable because it was like, 'Oh, she's getting thicker.'
"Then I had industry people: 'They liked your body and how you were as a skinny teenager',' Christina shared.

Singer cancels tour over poor ticket sales and confesses he 'aimed too high'

Grammy-nominated artist JP Saxe has been forced to axe his entire tour unless he sells 20,000 tickets immediately after he 'aimed too high'. The Canadian singer, 32, is best known for his hit song If The World Was Ending, which he released in 2019 with vocals from Julia Michaels. The track landed him a Grammy nomination for Song of the Year 2021 but lost out to I Can't Breathe by H.E.R. Four years on, and he's taken to social media to confess he had overestimated how many tickets he could sell to his latest tour. 'I'm extremely embarrassed to tell you this, but I'm going to tell you anyway,' he began in a video posted to social media. 'If I don't sell 20 or so thousand tickets to my tour in the next 48 hours, it's going to be cancelled. 'If we're just not in a place yet to sell out these 2,000-, 3,000-cap venues – that's fine. It's always been my goal to connect deeply, not widely, and I stand by that.' The Make Yourself At Home tour was due to start next month with 32-dates scheduled across America, ending in October. He urged fans who might be waiting until the last minute to purchase tickets to act now so it could go ahead. 'Just in case you were waiting till the week of or night of to buy a ticket – that approach just isn't going to work, because there won't be a show to buy a ticket to,' JP continued. 'So whether that happens or not, I'm grateful to you for caring about my songs, and I hold on to a sliver of hope that I will see you in the fall.' After his message, an influx of 'a few thousand extra' ticket sales came in but it still hasn't been enough to save the tour. 'I am beyond grateful to every one of you who bought one,' JP said in a follow-up video once the 48hour deadline had passed. 'Those few thousand tickets are a reminder that being transparent in failure sometimes can be more powerful than the façade of success – a reminder of how wonderful it can be to ask for help and watch a community come together.' With a smile, he added: 'This really was the nicest the internet has ever been to me.' Apologising to those who wanted to come, JP confirmed purchases would be refunded in full 'with a small side of immense gratitude from a dorky ginger Canadian'. He then went on to write about the experience for Variety, explaining that honesty is not always seen as the best policy in the industry but it was important to him. More Trending Rather than an 'ego-saving explanation', the I Don't Miss You singer admitted he had 'aimed too high – my bad.' 'Self-image is delicate on a good day, fragile on a bad one,' he wrote. 'Applause for success is great. 'But there is something more interesting about be applauded for honesty in failure. It's not as good for my ego — but maybe i'ts better for my growth'. Got a story? The five-time Grammy winner, who has sold more than 220 million albums worldwide, took to the stage in Preston Park on Saturday night as the headline act at Brighton & Hove Pride. Her set included timeless classics like Hero and Fantasy, along with the single Sugar Sweet from her upcoming 16th studio album Here For It All. Carey appeared sporting a sparkling pink, blue and silver dress and matching jacket, matching the colours of the transgender flag, with 'protect the dolls' on the back. Who else is here with their besties?? We are absolutely loving the energy on-site today 💘👯#BrightonPride — Brighton & Hove Pride (@PrideBrighton) August 2, 2025 One fan took to X to post a photo of the outfit with the comment: 'Mariah Carey is always on the right side of history.' Talking about the LGBTQ+ community, Carey said: ''They've been here for me for so long, supported me through good times and bad, and I just wanted you to know I'll always be there for you.' She then went on to dedicate her next song Hero to the community and her audience at Preston Park. The star was set to headline the event in 2020 before Covid-19 restrictions saw it cancelled, but she was back equipped with three outfit changes, and a host of back-up dancers, singers and musicians. Earlier, American rapper and singer Ashnikko told the crowd it would be 'wrong' not to acknowledge that 'we are witnessing a genocide in Gaza' while on stage. She reminded the crowd 'Pride started as a protest', before adding 'we will not be complicit in that'. She said that it can be hard to stay positive when people's rights are stripped 'by fascist overlords disguising themselves as democratic leaders'. No one dances like YOU, Brighton Pride!! 💃😍#BrightonPride — Brighton & Hove Pride (@PrideBrighton) August 2, 2025 Earlier, some Pride-goers travelling down from London were handed 'Care(y) packages' at London Blackfriars station by the Govia Thameslink Railway train company. The packages were packed with electrolytes, SPF, paper fans, glitter tattoos and face stickers – with some items bearing the labels 'See it, Slay it, Sorted'. According to the BBC, roughly 300,000 people will be coming to Brighton over the weekend. As fans left the park after Carey had finished her set with a flourish, some were singing 'All I want for Christmas is you' as they wandered out into the August night.
