'I sampled new luxury Dubai chocolate but you'll have to run to Tesco quickly'

Daily Mirror16-06-2025
Dubai chocolate has been popular for quite some time now, and if you've sampled it for yourself, you'll understand the hype around it. It's tasty, it has a unique texture, and oftentimes, it comes with a hefty price tag that many Brits are loath to spend on a measly chocolate bar. But that's where this version steps in. It'll save your purse, and your tastebuds, because it's so delicious.
Serving to be a more accessible version of GODIVA's original Dubai-style chocolate bar - the handcrafted GODIVA Premium Dubai Chocolate with Crispy Pistachio & Kadayif Filling bar, available exclusively at Harrods, Selfridges, and the Covent Garden flagship for £24.95 - the reimagined bar will set you back just a tenner. Or, £7.95 with a Tesco Clubcard.
For those not in the know, Dubai Chocolate is a chocolate bar filled with kataifi and pistachio. Its unique texture makes the chocolate taste even more decadent than a normal bar.
But, you'll have to be quick, as the limited edition bar will be taken off the shelves after June 17, so if you want to try it for yourself, I suggest going now.
I highly recommend you try it for yourself. It was smoother than other Dubai-style chocolate bars I've tried in the past. Perhaps less chunky and filling-filled, and the texture wasn't quite as satisfying, but it still made for a seriously indulgent and delicious treat nonetheless.
If you're in the supermarket doing your weekly shop anyway, and you spot this bar, for £7.95 it's well worth a try, especially given that many other Dubai chocolate bars can retail upwards of £20.
While it may have been thinner than the Rifai bar I previously sampled, for the price difference, it really held its own.
However, on social media, many praised the GODIVA original bar, which retails at almost £25, saying it was the "best" that they'd had. Some even said on TikTok it was good that they'd made an "accessible" version for people who aren't prepared to pay that price.
Rifai's Dubai chocolate offering costs a whopping £21, which for 190g of chocolate, may make even those with the biggest sweet tooth wince.
However, I did describe this bar as "the cream of the crop," and I truly stand by that. I even tried the M&S 'The Big Daddy Pistachio' after many across TikTok promised it was even better than Dubai chocolate. But the Rifai bar is still taking the top spot for me, personally.
Isabella Rogers, Chief Marketing Officer at GODIVA, said: "Inspired by the viral Dubai-style chocolate trend, our new GODIVA Crispy Kadayif & Pistachio Chocolate offers an effortless way for more people to experience our premium take on this indulgent sensation for a limited time only on the high street.
"From the signature GODIVA milk chocolate couverture to the delicate crunch of pistachios and crisp golden Kadayif, it's a true feast for the senses — designed for those who may not make it to our Covent Garden boutique, but still want a taste of luxury".

People left freaked out after realising what Las Vegas looks like from a flight: 'It's so strange'

When thinking about Las Vegas, many people envision busy casinos, wild night life and dazzling lights. But footage of the bustling city, taken from the window of a plane, has left people baffled. In a clip on TikTok, posted by @beccastravel, a very square-looking neighbourhood, completely surrounded by vast desert can be seen. It has buildings and streets, but doesn't quite fit the vision that many have of Vegas. Text written over the video read: 'Flying into Vegas and realising it really is just surrounded by desert'. It left many confused, with some claiming the area shown in the clip was not Las Vegas. However, it is in fact a suburb in Southern Las Vegas. The TikToker captioned the baffling clip with, 'So weird how it just ends on one street! Imagine that being your back garden!' But one clip on TikTok posted by @beccastravel of the bustling city in Nevada has left people baffled Many were shocked by what they saw, and shared their thoughts in the comments. One baffled viewer said: 'Looks like a computer chip.' 'This looks like a motherboard from a laptop,' someone else quipped. While another penned: 'This looks like a simulation.' One person was surprised by the video and said: 'It's so strange.' Another asked: 'Why is it so small?' Someone else debated whether it was Vegas or not and said: 'I refuse to believe that's Vegas.' While one commented: 'Literally recorded the edge of Vegas.' The city is situated in the northeastern part of the Mojave Desert, which has a hot and dry climate. During the summer, it can reach extremely hot temperatures while in the winter it has been known to be mild. Previously, people who live on the edge of Vegas shared the views from their back gardens, including Crystal Wojtowich (@yourfaveazn) - with many saying it was 'terrifying' In her video, she opens up her back door to reveal a high brick wall surrounding her patio. She then pans the camera over the wall to reveal an absolutely barren desert behind.

I live off-grid on an island close to the North Pole where polar bears break into cabins and EVERYONE is required to carry a gun

A woman who resides on an island close to the North Pole and Norway has revealed what it's like living in the chilly location. Cecilia Blomdahl, @sejsejlija, shares her Arctic lifestyle on Svalbard to her 2.9million TikTok followers. She sometimes stays in an off-grid cabin and in one video, detailed the dangers she has to deal with when there. The content creator revealed polar bears sometimes try to break in to similar set ups, and explained how she protects herself. 'The last time a polar bear broke into this cabin was 20 years ago,' she explained. Cecilia's cabin is in a remote location, some distance from another town and is not easily accessible. 'It's fully off grid so it has no electricity, no modern amenities and it's located far away from town,' she said. 'The only way to get here in winter is by snowmobile and in summer by boat.' However, the secluded area means there's other wildlife around, including polar bears. 'It is not uncommon for polar bears to break into off grid cabins and we actually just recently had a polar bear very close to town so that is something you always have to think about when you're here on Svalbard in general,' Cecilia revealed. She has to take precautions when leaving the cabin, just in case there's a potential danger nearby. 'Whenever you go outside you need to look around the corners before stepping out to kind of see your surroundings,' Cecilia explained. She shared how her dog is also helpful in noticing other animals from far away. 'Grim is fine being outdoors because he can actually tell us if anything is coming close to the cabin way before we can see it,' she said. Cecilia also carries a firearm with her whenever she is away from the village as another form of protection against polar bears. She explained how it is necessary, especially when in the remote cabin. Cecilia said: 'Here on Svalbard, everyone is required to bring a firearm as polar bear protection whenever they are outside of the village so that is very important to have with you when you're on a cabin trip like this. However, she was careful to emphasise it would only be use in particularly dangerous scenarios. 'But the firearm is only for life-threatening situations,' she added.
