Man flips out over Penang char koay teow
GEORGE TOWN : Police say they will not take action against a man who attacked a char koay teow seller in New Lane here over the weekend.
In a viral video shot by a member of the public at about 7pm on July 5, the man appeared to be upset that the hawker was ignoring a question about which plate of the noodles was his.
He then proceeded to shout at one of the two stallholders, appearing to slap one of them.
One of the stallholders then threatened to call the police, with the irate man saying to go ahead, before proceeding to flip the hawker's wok.
In a statement this evening, Timur Laut deputy police chief Lee Swee Sake said one of the stallholders had lodged a police report over the incident.
'After investigations, we have classified the case as no further action after the complainant forgave the suspect, who had apologised to him after the incident.
'The complainant also does not wish to pursue the case, as neither he nor his family members suffered any loss or injury,' he said.

According to him, three of the victims are members of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Air Wing Unit, while the other two are attached to the Tanjung Kupang police station. Commenting on claims that the helicopter was an ageing asset, Mohd Khalid said age is not a major factor if proper maintenance is carried out. "Being old is not a problem. What matters is that maintenance is done well. What happened was something beyond our control,' he said. Mohd Khalid said police will look after the welfare of all the personnel involved and their families.
