Giants end 6-game losing streak with shutout of Braves
Schmitt hit a solo homer, his fifth, as part of a four-run rally in the second inning. Flores delivered a three-run shot, his 12th of the year and first since June 7, in the seventh to put the game away and help the Giants even the three-game series. The Giants are 4-1 against the Braves this season.
The victory was the 1,650th for San Francisco manager Bob Melvin, which moves him into a tie with Mike Scioscia for 20th in major league history.
Giants starter Landen Roupp (7-6) threw five scoreless innings and allowed four hits and one walk while striking out six. Over his past six starts, Roupp is 3-1 with a 1.15 ERA and 32 strikeouts in 31 1/3 innings. It was his second victory over the Braves this season.
San Francisco relievers Sean Hjelle and Joey Lucchesi each pitched a frame and Carson Seymour threw the final two innings, striking out three in the ninth to complete the Giants' fifth shutout of the year.
Atlanta's Davis Daniel (0-1) pitched five innings and permitted five runs on seven hits with four walks and three strikeouts. It was his second start and third appearance for the Braves.
The Giants scored four times in the second to take command. Willy Adames walked -- one of his three for the game -- and scored on Matt Chapman's triple that the yellow line on the center field fence and bounced away from Michael Harris II. Melvin contended the ball left the park, but a video review confirmed the call on the field.
It didn't really matter. Flores followed with a sacrifice fly and Schmitt hit a 416-foot solo homer into the second deck of the left field seats. The Giants then loaded the bases and Heliot Ramos hit a sacrifice fly to center field.
Adames added a run-scoring single in the fifth inning, giving him 17 RBIs in July.
In the seventh, Rafael Devers hit an RBI single and Flores belted his three-run shot.
Devers played the full game at first base, his first appearance at the position in 1,083 regular-season games. His refusal to play first base for the Boston Red Sox earlier this year helped prompt his trade to the Giants.

SafeSport Center opens search for new CEO
The U.S. Center for SafeSport posted the opening for a new chief executive officer on Thursday, hoping to find a leader to steer the agency into a new era after several troubled years as a start-up. The center, a non-profit that opened in 2017 and is charged with handling sex-abuse cases in Olympic sports, hired consulting firm Korn Ferry to lead the search and work with a search committee made of center board members and advisors. 'This is more than a job search. It is a reflection of our values and the people we are accountable to — our staff, athletes, and the broader sport community," said Board Vice Chair and search committee lead Chicka Elloy. April Holmes stepped away from her duties as board chair to serve as interim CEO in place of Ju'Riese Colon while the search takes place. The center parted ways with Colon in April, not long after Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, began querying the center when details emerged about its hiring of an investigator who would later be charged with rape. The center, which also opened a search for a new chief financial officer, said Korn Ferry 'is currently conducting organizational assessments and confidential outreach to identify candidates who exemplify both executive acumen and a people-first philosophy.' The job description said the center was looking for someone with a 'deep understanding of the sports ecosystem and/or experience working in fields related to abuse prevention, compliance, or athlete advocacy.'
