Godavari riverfront development plan works commence in Rajamahendravaram City
Additionally, East Godavari Collector P. Prasanthi, announced that the Centre has granted ₹100 crore for the Akhanda Godavari project and works would begin soon. Of this ₹97 crore would be spent on the beautification and development of infrastructure facilities within the Rajamahendravaram city.
RMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said that works worth ₹128 crore related to the Godavari Pushkarams-2027 are currently underway in the city.
Attending the bhumi puja for the river-front development works were Rajamahendravaram MLA Adireddi Srinivas, Rajanagaram MLA B. Balarama Krishna, Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority Chairman Boddu Venkataramana Chowdary and other public representatives.

Gujarat approves action plan for Artificial Intelligence implementation in governance
Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved the Action Plan for Implementation of Artificial Intelligence [AI] (2025–2030), setting the stage for the integration of AI into Gujarat's governance framework over the next five years. The plan aims to improve service delivery, strengthen administrative processes, and apply AI tools in sectors such as healthcare, education, agriculture, and finance. This move aligns with the broader goals of Viksit Gujarat@2047 and the national mission of Viksit Bharat@2047, officials said. Prepared by the Department of Science and Technology based on recommendations from a 10-member AI Taskforce Committee, the plan will serve as a roadmap to equip government departments with AI systems and capabilities. It also supports the Centre's broader objective, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to expand the use of artificial intelligence in public policy, administration, and digital infrastructure. The State's action plan focuses on six major areas: building a secure and regulation-compliant data ecosystem; expanding GPU and cloud-based digital infrastructure, including setting up AI factories in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities; training 2.5 lakh individuals—students, MSMEs, and government officials—in AI, machine learning, and related technologies; promoting research and partnerships between academia and industry for building practical government-use AI models; supporting DeepTech startups with incubation, mentorship, and funding; and ensuring safe and responsible AI through audit systems, guidelines, and risk protocols. Implementation will be carried out in phases, starting with the creation of a State-level AI data repository, setting up AI development facilities, and launching pilot projects in selected departments. To oversee the entire effort, the Government will establish a dedicated AI and Deep Tech Mission. This institutional mechanism will lead the design, planning, and monitoring of AI projects while facilitating collaboration between academic institutions, industry players, and startups. Gujarat has already taken steps to strengthen its AI foundation, including the launch of an AI Centre of Excellence at GIFT City, the organisation of AI training programmes for public officials, and the issuance of an Expression of Interest for developing Indian language-based AI models. The state has also conducted an AI Innovation Challenge to encourage practical solutions.

Abhishek to head to Delhi as TMC intensifies SIR stir
Kolkata: national general secretary is expected to reach Delhi this week as the party intensifies its stir in Parliament, demanding an assurance from the Centre "on the floor of the House" that the special intensive revision (SIR) in Bihar will be discussed. The party has said SIR requirements mirror Section 3 of the Citizenship Act, 1955, which makes the exercise "NRC in disguise." Over the last week, the party has been hamstrung by the absence of its floor leaders in Lok Sabha. Trinamool's leader in Lok Sabha Sudip Bandyopadhyay and senior MP Saugata Roy are not in Delhi due to health reasons. The party's chief whip in Lok Sabha, Kalyan Banerjee, is representing Bengal govt in cases and shuttling between Supreme Court and Calcutta High Court. On Friday, the party's deputy Lok Sabha leader Kakoli Ghosh Dastidar attended the all-party meeting convened by Speaker Om Birla. Banerjee is likely to remain in Delhi and work on party strategy. The Diamond Harbour MP, who was part of Centre's outreach abroad after Pahalgam attack, is also likely to be a keynote speaker if Operation Sindoor discussions take place in Parliament. A senior MP said: "Trinamool is not opposed to discussions on Operation Sindoor. In fact, we want some answers. But this cannot be at the expense of SIR. Here we are talking of mass disenfranchisement of people who had voted in the 2024 Lok Sabha, based on arbitrary reasoning. We want a clear assurance from the Centre on the floor of the house that SIR will be discussed threadbare in Parliament."

HC notice on woman's plea
Kendrapada: Orissa high court on July 21 issued a notice to Odisha Information Commission, state information commissioner, public information officer of the regulated market committee (RMC), Jajpur, and first appellate authority of RMC on a writ petition filed by Shantilata Sahoo, a resident of Jajpur district, challenging a decision of the information commissioner in an RTI case. The petitioner had moved the state information commissioner seeking details regarding disciplinary action taken against her husband, a former employee of RMC, under the RTI Act. Despite directions from the first appellate authority to provide full information, the RMC allegedly failed to comply. In its May 15 reply, the information commissioner said RMC is not a 'public authority' under the RTI Act, 2005, and hence not obliged to furnish the information sought. Challenging it, the petitioner, represented by advocate Akhand, moved the high court seeking to set aside the information commissioner's decision. In her writ petition, Sahoo argued that RMCs were established by the state govt under the Orissa Agricultural Produce Markets Act, 1956, and hence fall within the definition of "public authority" under Section 2(h) of the RTI Act. When the matter came up for hearing on July 21, Justice V Narasingh stated, "The counsel of the petitioner submits that without due application of mind, the appeal was dismissed. In such view of the matter, issue notice to all the four opposite parties."
