Rajamahendravaram: Member of Parliament for Rajamahendravaram Daggubati Purandeswari met South Central Railway General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava on Tuesday at Rail Nilayam in Secunderabad to discuss railway development plans within her constituency. She explained the meeting details. According to the MP, during the meeting, Purandeswari highlighted the delay in the main Rajamahendravaram railway station development works. She pointed out that despite Rs 271 crore being sanctioned for the project six months ago, tenders have yet to be called. She urged the General Manager to immediately float tenders and commence work, emphasising the need to complete the station's development and make it accessible to passengers by the Godavari Pushkarams in 2027. General Manager Sanjay Kumar Srivastava assured the MP that tenders would be called within two to three days, and the first phase of the work would commence immediately. The meeting was attended by various railway officials, including railway union leader Unni Krishnan, BJP leaders Nagendra, and PM Krishna, among others.

East Godavari (Andhra Pradesh) [India], June 26 (ANI): Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan on Thursday said that the Akhanda Godavari Project marks a significant milestone in the cultural, spiritual, and economic potential of the Godavari region. Earlier in the day, he and Union Minister for Tourism and Culture Gajendra Singh Shekhawat performed bhumi puja for the 94 crore project on the banks of the river Godavari in Rajamahendravaram City here. 'Respected Hon'ble Union Minister Sri @gssjodhpurJi (Gajendra Singh Shekhawat), It was an honour to have you in Rajamahendravaram for the foundation stone ceremony of the Akhanda Godavari Project. This project marks a significant milestone in the cultural, spiritual, and economic potential of the Godavari region,' Kalyan said in a post on X. Kalyan also thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi. 'From rejuvenating the historic Havelock Bridge to transforming Pushkar Ghat, and creating enriching experiences like the Kadiyam Nursery Centre, the Nidadavole Temple development shows a deep commitment to development and preserving our heritage. With the 2027 Godavari Pushkarams in sight, this effort will truly redefine cultural heritage tourism in Andhra Pradesh's progress. My heartfelt thanks to Hon'ble Prime Minister Sri @narendramodi Ji and the @MinOfCultureGoI @tourismgoi for the constant support from the Union Government in realising this dream project,' Kalyan said. Meanwhile, Union Minister Shekhawat said that the project will boost heritage tourism, ushering in a new era for Godavari's spiritual and economic landscape. He added that the project will revitalise the iconic Havelock Bridge, redevelop Pushkar Ghat, create a Kadiyam Nursery Experience Centre, and enhance pilgrim infrastructure at Nidadavol. 'Wonderful to be in Rajamahendravaram along with Andhra Pradesh Dy CM Shri @PawanKalyan garu to participate in laying the foundation stone of the 'Akhanda Godavari' project,' Shekhawat said in a post on X. 'At a cost of 94.44 crore, this transformative cultural-tourism project under the SASCI scheme will revitalise the iconic Havelock Bridge, redevelop Pushkar Ghat, create a Kadiyam Nursery Experience Centre, and enhance pilgrim infrastructure at Nidadavolu. Rajamahendravaram: Rajahmundry MLA Adireddy Srinivas has clarified that there are no plans to remove the statues of 13 prominent personalities installed along the Godavari Bund. Speaking at an all-party meeting organised by the Rajahmundry Heritage Protection Committee at Krishna Sai Kalyana Mandapam on Thursday, the MLA dismissed rumours suggesting otherwise. He stated that as part of the Riverfront Beautification Project, the existing statues will not be removed but will be arranged uniformly to enhance the aesthetic appeal. The MLA assured that the construction of the riverfront will not affect the traditional Pindala Revu, and alternative arrangements for performing ancestral rituals will be made near the adjacent cowshed area. He also said that priests and devotees performing shraddha karmas would not face any inconvenience due to the new development. Furthermore, he announced that the tender process for the beautification of the iconic Havelock Bridge as a tourist spot has been completed with an outlay of Rs 100 crore. An additional Rs 50 crore will be spent on upgrading the river ghats. District Congress President TK Visweswara Reddy, who coordinated the meeting, commended the government's efforts in bringing the central office of Potti Sreeramulu Telugu University to Rajamahendravaram. He demanded the immediate conduct of municipal corporation elections for accelerated urban development, especially ahead of the upcoming Godavari Pushkarams, which are expected to draw lakhs of pilgrims. He further urged the immediate inauguration of the completed Science Museum in Bommuru and proposed setting up a waste-to-energy power plant in the city as a first-of-its-kind initiative in the state. Prominent advocate Madduri Siva Subbarao presided over the all-party meeting. YSR Congress Party spokesperson Margani Bharat Ram called for the construction of a service road adjacent to the Morampudi Flyover and the installation of streetlights atop the structure. He also demanded additional flyovers from Vemagiri Junction to Diwan Cheruvu to ease traffic congestion in view of the city's growing population. CPI district secretary T Madhu requested the installation of a statue of former and the first MLA Chitturi Prabhakara Choudary along the Godavari Bund. CPM district secretary T Arun mentioned the city's drinking water issues and urged for immediate flood mitigation measures. The all-party meeting concluded with the passing of several resolutions, which will be submitted to the District Collector and Municipal Commissioner, urging swift implementation, said Madduri Siva Subbarao. Former MLA Routhu Suryaprakasa Rao, Desireddy Balarama Naidu, Madeti Ravi Prakash, KK Sanjeeva Rao, Abdulla Sharif, Asadullah Ahmed, and P Kondalarao were among the attendees.

Rajahmundry: Deputy chief minister Pawan Kalyan will lay the foundation stone for the Akhanda Godavari project in the first week of June, said AP tourism minister Kandula Durgesh on Monday. He made it clear that the project works will be completed before Godavari Pushkarams. He mentioned that the project aims to develop several tourist places in Rajahmundry, Rajahmundry rural, Kovvur and Nidadavole assembly constituencies. He informed that tender works have been completed for some works and tender process for remaining works will be completed very soon. He explained that the historical Havelock Bridge will be beautified, Pushkar ghat will be transformed into a spiritual centre, and Kadiyam nurseries will be developed as international tourist destination. Addressing the media at his camp office in Rajahmundry, Kandula Durgesh said that the tender process for Gandikota project in YSR Kadapa district was completed and project works will begin very soon. He further said that Gandikota will be developed as the Grand Canyon of India. He further said that the Suryalanka beach in Bapatla district will be developed and funds have been sanctioned from the Centre. As Surya Lanka beach is very near to Amaravati, he said that the beach will become a national tourist destination. He informed that Union minister for tourism has promised more projects to Andhra Pradesh.

Godavari riverfront development plan works commence in Rajamahendravaram City

The Rajamahendravaram Municipal Corporation (RMC) kick-started works of the ₹8 crore Godavari Riverfront Development Plan along the banks of river Godavari, in preparation for the Godavari Pushkarams in 2027 with a bhumi puja ceremony. As part of the river-front development, 22 parks with supporting infrastructure will be developed along the banks of the river Godavari. Additionally, East Godavari Collector P. Prasanthi, announced that the Centre has granted ₹100 crore for the Akhanda Godavari project and works would begin soon. Of this ₹97 crore would be spent on the beautification and development of infrastructure facilities within the Rajamahendravaram city. RMC Commissioner Ketan Garg said that works worth ₹128 crore related to the Godavari Pushkarams-2027 are currently underway in the city. Attending the bhumi puja for the river-front development works were Rajamahendravaram MLA Adireddi Srinivas, Rajanagaram MLA B. Balarama Krishna, Rajamahendravaram Urban Development Authority Chairman Boddu Venkataramana Chowdary and other public representatives.
