Brian Tarrence was last seen leaving a rented apartment in Turks and Caicos just before 3:40 a.m. on June 25, the local police force said. The New Yorker has not been seen since.
Tarrence was staying at the Paradise Inn in Grace Bay, Providenciales, when CCTV footage caught him walking away from the property without any obvious signs of distress, reported the island news outlet Eagle Legal News. The 51 year-old's belongings, including his wallet and phone, have also gone missing and his cell is unreachable, the outlet added.
Private investigator Carl DeFazio, who was hired by the Tarrence family, told The Independent he had been working with local police since his unexplained disappearance.
DeFazio said he was trying to track Tarrence's credit card and Apple Watch information and anything that could suggest his whereabouts. He added that police and local community had been very cooperative in the investigation, treating it as a high-priority case and that so far there was nothing to suggest foul play.
'They seemed to be having a normal couple of days, and he ended up walking out of his condo, which is in a very safe place and in the middle of Grace Bay Road,' DeFazio told Fox News. 'We have him on camera, and he walks into town, and then he basically disappears, and we haven't heard from him since."
DeFazio told Fox Tarrence is a 'smart guy,' adding 'we don't know what's in his mind or if he did this on his own or if somebody took him in."
The Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police hunt to find Tarrence, who lives in Manhattan, is now on its eighth day. The missing man's wife is reportedly assisting with the search efforts.
The couple had arrived on the island on June 21 for what they had intended to be a relaxing break. Tarrence's brother, Mike Tarrence, told the island outlet The Sun that he last heard from his brother via text the day before they went.
He said the message was short and advised that he and his wife were heading off on holiday but with no further details.
'They were there to celebrate their one-year anniversary,' Mike said. 'He just said they were going on vacation.'
If anyone has any information on Tarrence's whereabouts, they are urged to contact the Royal Turks and Caicos Islands Police Force at 911 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-8477.
All calls will be answered by the Miami-Dade Police, and 'no one from RTCIPF will know who called,' adding that the information would be passed on anonymously. Local police advised people not to share information with them via their social media pages.

'Everything prior to the point where he walked out of that house, he seems fine,' private investigator Carl DeFazio told the local outlet. 'The worst thing is not knowing,' he added. 'Every day that goes by is not good.' On June 22, the couple arrived at world-famous Grace Bay Beach on the northeast coast of Providenciales - a pristine stretch of shoreline famed for its crystal-clear waters, powdery white sand and upscale luxury resorts. Three days later, on June 25, Tarrence and his wife spent the afternoon on a boat before heading to dinner. However, later that night, his wife awoke to find that he was no longer in the rental home. A FRANTIC hunt has been launched for a woman who disappeared from a coastal town without a trace. Emma, aged 30, was due to meet a friend in Bournemouth yesterday, July 4. Police have now launched an urgent search for Emma after she disappeared. She was due to meet a friend at 12pm but has not been heard from since 9:30am. An investigation into her whereabouts has subsequently been launched by the cops who are appealing for the publics help in locating Emma. She is described as five feet one inch tall and of slim build with long black hair. Her disappearance was described as out of character with Emma usually keeping in close contact with friends and family. Army Ranger in ICU after being hit by boat propeller while snorkeling in the Bahamas
A former Army Ranger was seriously injured after a boat propeller sliced into him while snorkeling in the Bahamas. Brent Slough was vacationing with his family on June 30 when the hit-and-run incident occurred in the Exuma district of the islands. The driver of the boat did not stop and has not been charged. Slough, a West Point graduate and former Ranger who served six years in the military as well as one tour in Iraq, was in the water before dinner when a boat skimming the shallows struck him. According to his wife, Whitney Slough, the propeller hit Slough underneath the buttocks and the legs, causing him to bleed profusely. Recalling the incident to WFAA, she said: 'We hear Brent screaming, 'Help me, help me, help me.' We didn't realize that he was struck by the boat.' Slough's family, with the help of other Good Samaritans on the beach, pulled him from the water and wrapped his legs in towels in an attempt to stop the bleeding. He was taken to a nearby hospital. He was later airlifted back to the U.S., and is currently in the ICU in Miami, having undergone surgery almost immediately – which lasted four hours. His wife told WFAA that doctors were unable to stitch the wounds because they're so deep and have packed them instead. A GoFundMe to help with his medical bills has so far raised over $50,000. Bahamian authorities are now searching for the boat and those responsible. 'They know they hit him, they saw him snorkeling,' Whitney Slough said. 'And they drove off. I just can't let that be….We're lucky that he's alive and there's no way that they should be able to get away with this.' She added: '[The Bahamas] is such a beautiful place. But I feel like I'm in a nightmare.'
