4-star safety Devin Jackson announces commitment between Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators
They added to that secondary haul on Thursday with a commitment from 4-star defensive back Devin Jackson, who joined the Ducks over the likes of the Florida Gators, Miami Hurricanes, and Nebraska Cornhuskers.
The 247Sports Composite rates Jackson as the No. 213 player in the 2026 class, and the No. 18 safety.
Standing at 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Jackson is a rangy safety who is expected to play deep or in the slot at the college level, which gives the Ducks some nice versatility in the 2026 class, seeing as they don't yet have a cornerback committed.
Jackson took an official visit to Oregon earlier this month, and also went on the road to see the likes of Florida, Nebraska, Miami, and Penn State.
Jackson is yet another example of Oregon's elite defensive back recruitment over the last few years under Dan Lanning, Chris Hampton, and Rashad Wadood. In the past two seasons, Oregon has picked up 5-star safety Jett Washington and 5-star safety Trey McNutt, plus 5-star cornerback Na'eem Offord, and 4-star cornerbacks Brandon Finney and Dorian Brew.
There is one massive recruit remaining on Oregon's defensive back board, and that's 4-star CB Davon Benjamin, the No. 35-ranked player in the 2026 class. The Ducks will try hard to land him, but it's not going to be easy with the Washington Huskies, Texas Longhorns, and Michigan Wolverines also in the mix.

Nation's No. 4 Recruit Commits to Historic College Football Program
Nation's No. 4 Recruit Commits to Historic College Football Program originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The top talent in the 2026 recruiting class continues to make their decisions on where they will be taking their talents to start their collegiate careers, which includes offensive tackle Immanuel Iheanacho. Advertisement It was a heated battle to see which program would land his services, as he was deciding between the Oregon Ducks, the LSU Tigers, the Penn State Nittany Lions and the Auburn Tigers, all of whom he'd had official visits with. Of course, only one could come out on top, and on Thursday, Iheanacho announced his commitment to Oregon, per On3's Hayes Fawcett, where he will play under head coach Dan Lanning. This gives the Ducks a huge reason to celebrate, as On3 Industry Rankings had Iheanacho as a five-star recruit, the No.2 offensive tackle, the No. 2 player in Maryland and the No. 4 player in the nation. Advertisement During the 2024 season with Georgetown Prep, he was named a MaxPreps Junior All-American after not allowing a single sack the entire year, and at 6-foot-7 and 380 pounds, he's proven to be an impressive force on the field. Iheanacho also becomes the third offensive lineman that Oregon has landed in this year's cycle, joining four-star Tommy Tofi and three-star Koloi Kelo. Oregon Ducks head coach Dan Lanning received a commitment from offensive tackle Immanuel Goddin-Imagn Images As a whole, Lanning has produced an extremely impressive 2026 recruiting class, now holding a total of 13 commitments, ranking No. 3 in the Big Ten and No. 8 in the nation. Oregon may not be done yet either, as the On3 recruiting prediction machine gives them the best chance to land four-star athlete Jalen Lott (63.6%), four-star cornerback Davon Benjamin (94%) and three-star safety Jaxon Toala (46.1%). Florida Receives Exciting Recruiting News on Thursday
Florida Receives Exciting Recruiting News on Thursday originally appeared on Athlon Sports. The Florida Gators have started the month of July with a bang on the recruiting trail. After landing four-star defensive lineman Kendall Guervil on Wednesday, Billy Napier's Gators got some more great news on Thursday afternoon. Advertisement Four-star safety CJ Hester, who is ranked No. 20 among all safeties in the country in the 2026 recruiting class, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, announced his commitment to UF on Thursday through Rivals' Hayes Fawcett. Hester chose the Gators over their SEC rivals, the Auburn Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs, and in-state challenger, the Miami Hurricanes. "I'm ready right now, Go Gators,' Hester said. The Cocoa, Florida, defensive back becomes Florida's 16th overall commit in the class and the ninth with four-star status, per On3. Hester is also the third defensive back and second safety commit to the Gators, with CJ Bronaugh (four-star cornerback) and Kaidan Hall (three-star safety) being the others. Advertisement Hester totaled 72 tackles, 10 pass breakups and four interceptions last season in his junior year at Cocoa High School, per MaxPreps. He will join co-defensive coordinator Ron Roberts and defensive backs coach Deron Wilson, looking to solidify a Gators' secondary that has been on the rise in recent years. Florida Gators defensive back Jordan Castell (14) celebrates after Bryce Thornton's (18) Pendleton-Imagn Images Napier and UF are not done going after defensive backs in the 2026 class, however. They will now turn their attention to a pair of five-star recruits in safety Bralan Womack and cornerback Chauncey Kennon. Womack is the No. 12 overall recruit and the top-ranked safety in the country in the Top247 rankings. Florida will have to wait for Womack's announcement, as his commitment date is set for August 23. On the other hand, the Gators will get a decision soon from Kennon, who is the second-best corner in the nation, according to the Top247 list. He will decide on his future this Sunday. Advertisement After landing one 2026 four-star commit on Wednesday and now another with Hester on Thursday, things are heating up for UF in the recruiting game, as the prime time for commitments is just getting started. Top OL Immanuel Iheanacho commits to Oregon
Oregon gained a massive addition to its 2026 recruiting class on Wednesday with the commitment of Immanuel Iheanacho, a 5-star prospect ranked as the class' No. 1 interior offensive lineman. The 247Sports composite also ranks Iheanacho as the No. 8 overall player in the nation. The 6-foot-6, 345 tackle plays at Georgetown Preparatory School in Baltimore. He made the announcement Wednesday on "The Pat McAfee Show" on ESPN. After he declared his choice, he unzipped his jacket to reveal an Oregon-green T-shirt that read, "The grass is damn green in Eugene." "Oregon just really felt right," he told McAfee, citing the ability to play early in his career as a deciding factor in his choice. He took official visits to Oregon, Penn State, Auburn and LSU in June. Also Thursday, four-star safety Devin Jackson committed to the Ducks and head coach Dan Lanning. From The First Academy in Orlando, Jackson is ranked as the No. 18 safety by the 247Sports composite. The 6-foot-2, 195-pound Jackson also took official visits to LSU, Miami and Nebraska. He broke off his commitment to Florida in April. Oregon also added offensive lineman Tommy Tofi from Archbishop Riordan in San Francisco to its 2026 class on Wednesday. --Field Level Media Field Level Media 2025 - All Rights Reserved
