WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 featured a hard-hitting battle between two of SmackDown's biggest stars: Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre.
In front of a ____ crowd in the All State Arena in Atlanta, the recently returning McIntyre went one-on-one with 'The Viper,' who recently lost the King of the Ring tournament to Cody Rhodes. McIntyre was wrestling his first major singles match after a planned brief break from WWE that really left a gaping hole on the heel side of the blue brand.
As WWE looks to establish new challengers for SmackDown's WWE Championship, currently held by John Cena, McIntyre and Orton faced off at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event as they attempted to cement themselves as potential world title challengers.
WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 Results For Drew McIntyre vs. Randy Orton
Of all the matches ___ on the latest edition of WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, McIntyre vs. Orton was certainly the least predictable. Heading into the bout, there was definitely a case to be made that both stars badly needed the win.
Orton, however, ultimately emerged with the massive win in Atlanta _____, defeating McIntyre with an RKO to ___________. It was the second consecutive Saturday Night's Main Event where McIntyre suffered a significant loss to one of SmackDown's top superstars ____.
It was just back in May that McIntyre lost to Damian Priest in a steel cage match, putting over the former Judgment Day member before his planned hiatus. That was a sensible booking move that helped cement Priest as a borderline main event star as McIntyre got himself some much needed rest and relaxation.
But in Atlanta, WWE found itself in a booking pickle with McIntyre vs. Orton, with both stars coming off key losses in their latest high-profile matches: Orton losing to Rhodes and McIntyre losing to Priest. Thus, WWE needed to carefully craft the layout of the finish at WWE SNME to heep both stars looking strong.
That's exactly what WWE did _____. Orton and ___________.
WWE Saturday Night's Main Event 2025 Results: What's Next Randy Orton and Drew McIntyre?
Given their status as two of SmackDown's biggest stars, Orton and McIntyre both appear to be set up as potential WWE Championship challengers in the near future.
Orton lost a close battle to Rhodes at Night of Champions only because he second guessed himself and decided against going for his devastating punt kick on 'The American Nightmare.' That decision ultimately cost him the match, and when the bout was over, Orton's menacing stare at Rhodes not-so-subtly hinted at a potential heel turn.
Rhodes, of course, will face John Cena at SummerSlam, and the widespread expectation is that Rhodes will win back the WWE title at that event. That could potentially set up Orton vs. Rhodes II, possibly with an Orton heel turn to get there, though it wouldn't be surprising if WWE decided to hold off on that angle until the lead-up to WrestleMania 41 in 2026.
If Cena retains against Rhodes at SummerSlam, Orton is unlikely to emerge as a WWE title challenger given that WWE recently billed Orton vs. Cena at Backlash as 'One Last Time' while WWE CCO Triple H said after the event that the bout was indeed their final match against one another. That makes McIntyre the more likely option to feud for the WWE Championship, whether it's held by Cena or Rhodes, immediately after SummerSlam.
In early 2025, it was reported that WWE moved McIntyre to SmackDown mainly to set up a 'series' of matches against Rhodes, potentially for the WWE Championship. Though Cena's title win obviously threw a wrench into those plans, McIntyre vs. Rhodes may come to fruition, after all. Before we get there, Orton is reportedly set to team with rapper and singer Jelly Roll in a celebrity-filled tag team match against Logan Paul and McIntyre at SummerSlam.
That should be a stopgap rivalry for all stars involved, especially with Paul's status as a part-time star. It should lead to another singles match between Orton and McIntyre that serves as the blowoff match to their rivalry and potentially sets either star on their path to a WWE title feud.
After _______ at WWE Saturday Night's Main Event, McIntyre is a strong candidate to challenge for the WWE Championship immediately after SummerSlam, especially with a lack of other compelling options on SmackDown.

Insider reveals what Steelers could get for T.J. Watt trade, shoots down first-round pick

The T.J. Watt contract dilemma may be far from over — and as trade rumors continue to pile on, one insider has given his two cents on the situation. On Thursday's episode of The Rich Eisen Show, a guest appearance by insider Tom Pelissero presented fans with an interesting take on what the Steelers star defender could demand on the trade market: Advertisement 'What can you get, at this point, for T.J. Watt?' Pelissero said. 'For one thing, a 2026 draft pick doesn't help you. But even if you were getting a 2026 draft pick, is somebody giving up a first-round pick and more for T.J. Watt? Again, never say never, Rich, but when the Bengals were — at Trey Hendrickson's request — shopping Trey Hendrickson earlier this offseason, they were asking for a first-round pick. They weren't being offered a first-round pick for a guy who led the league in sacks last year and has like 35 sacks over the past two seasons. … 'Could the Steelers even get a first-round pick? If you're offered a second or something — and again, is a 2026 second, it doesn't help you when you're all in on 2025 — would it even make sense to consider it?' The Steelers have reportedly remained adamant about getting a deal done with Watt — but Adam Schefter has reported outside trade interest is expected to rise after the arrivals of big-contract players like Jalen Ramsey and Jonnu Smith. Advertisement Will the Steelers extend their star player and silence the trade rumors once and for all? Or will Watt's potential demand to become the highest-paid defender in the league push the two sides past a point of no return? Steelers EDGE T.J. Watt checks in at No. 2 among all pass rushers in NFL

For years, the conversation of who the best pass rusher in the NFL is has come down to the Cleveland Browns' Myles Garrett and the Pittsburgh Steelers' T.J. Watt. Both players are elite at their position, and the fact that they both play in the AFC North just makes it tougher to compare since they see so much of each other. When it comes to ranking the two of them, both sides can make a strong case for their guy being No. 1 and love to try and punch holes in the game of the other guy. ESPN recently put out their ranking of the top pass rushers in the NFL based on a poll of NFL executives, coaches and scouts and to no one's surprise, Garrett and Watt were No. 1 and No. 2. Advertisement Based on the voting, the lowest Watt was placed on a ballot was third and the lowest Garrett showed up was fourth. Trying to sort between the two is splitting hairs, but of course, we are biased and think Watt is better. And not just as a better pass rusher, but a better all-around defensive player. Can't Wait For Saturday Sooners, Vols, Hawkeyes, Bears, oh my ... were snubs a mistake?

Jul. 11—*** I received instructions this week from the nice folks at The Associated Press regarding my op 25 ballot. The poll is open for returning voters and the deadline for the preseason list is Aug. 1. Advertisement Mine is pretty much done, though I am going to do another quick digital sprint to make sure I didn't miss any spring/summer injuries. As I do that, I am also making notes about the teams just off my ballot at this point. When the ballots are unveiled to the public, I might be hearing from folks at Oklahoma, Tennessee, Iowa and Baylor for starters. I will remind everyone that the poll is fluid. What you think at the beginning of the season can change after a week or two. Our job as voters is to do the best we can right now, not in two or three weeks. A couple things on the ballots: if you write me, I will write you back. The outside input is so valuable. You may know something about Team A that I don't know. Please share. Advertisement And I won't ever criticize another voter's ballot. Not a cool thing to do. None of us think alike. We prioritize different parts of the game. Some of like low-scoring football (not me) and others like to se the scoreboard lighting up (closer to me). Nobody is right or wrong. Of the four teams not on my list, Oklahoma has a great chance to move in with an early victory against Michigan. The Vols face a difficult early game against Georgia. Win that and Tennessee is in.
