'A Minecraft Movie' had a record-breaking $163 million domestic and $150 million international opening, making for a total $313 million global launch. At the time, it was the best opening weekend of 2025 and the highest opening weekend for a video game adaptation. The film has earned $951 million worldwide in theaters. Warner Bros. film heads Michael de Luca and Pam Abdy called 'Minecraft' a 'world-class achievement' in a memo to staff after its blockbuster opening.
Despite the film receiving overall mixed reviews from critics (47% on Rotten Tomatoes), the film still managed to draw in families and young kids. David A. Gross, who runs the consulting firm FranchiseRe movie, told Variety: 'Reviews are not good, but these pictures are made for moviegoers, not critics. When a release catches fire like this, it generates its own momentum and you can set aside all projections.'

Could there be a Season 2 of ‘Untamed'? What we know so far
Netflix dropped its latest thriller mystery series 'Untamed' last week and fans are desperately anticipating more suspense and drama at Yosemite National Park. The show stars Eric Bana as National Park Service special agent Kyle Turner who investigates the brutal death of a woman who falls off a summit of El Capitan. Throughout the investigation he must also grapple with the tragic death of his son and a complicated divorce while battling alcoholism. Unfortunately for eager viewers who finished the series, the streaming platform has yet to announce plans for a follow-up season to what has so far been promoted as a limited series. However, key stakeholders have discussed the possible second season of the miniseries. Here's what we know so far. Has 'Untamed' been renewed for Season 2? No, Netflix has not announced a second season of 'Untamed.' What have key voices said about a second season of 'Untamed'? When asked about a follow up season in a Variety interview, star Eric Bana said 'we'll have to wait and see.' 'We spoke about what would happen to Kyle after this, in theory. So you never know,' Bana told the outlet. Co-showrunner Elle Smith discussed what a hypothetical Season 2 could look like in an interview with TV Insider, telling the outlet the theoretical follow-up season would likely follow an unrelated case at a different national park. "If we got the opportunity to do it again, it would be getting to explore a different park, a different case,' Smith told TV Insider. 'We would do this forever if they let us, but we'll see. We'll see how many adventures Turner has left in him.' Where to watch 'Untamed' The thriller series 'Untamed' is available to stream on Netflix. How many episodes are in 'Untamed'? There are a total of six episodes of Netflix's thriller miniseries 'Untamed.' When did untamed come out? Netflix premiered its new thriller mystery series 'Untamed" on July 17, 2025. Where was untamed filmed? While Netflix's miniseries 'Untamed' takes place at California's Yosemite National Park, production actually took place in British Columbia, Canada. 'We couldn't get the kind of access that we would've needed, particularly in summer to Yosemite. So we stitched a lot of things together and we were in a beautiful, beautiful part of Canada. Just absolutely stunning,' Bana told Variety. 'Untamed' miniseries full cast The cast of Netflix miniseries 'Untamed' includes the following:

Avengers: Secret Wars will "reset" the MCU into a "singular timeline," but Kevin Feige says it's not quite a reboot: "Reboot is a scary word"
When you buy through links on our articles, Future and its syndication partners may earn a commission. Kevin Feige has revealed that a Marvel "reset" is in the works – though it's not a full reboot. The news comes ahead of Marvel Phase 6 kicking off in just a few days with the release of The Fantastic Four: First Steps. As Feige explained to assembled journalists at a press event (via Variety), Avengers: Secret Wars will be the catalyst for a new MCU. "We're utilizing that [story] not just to round out the stories we've been telling post-Endgame, just as importantly – and you can look at the Secret War comics for where that takes you – it very, very much sets us up for the future," Feige revealed. "Endgame, literally, was about endings. Secret Wars is about beginnings." But, it's not going to be a complete overhaul. "Reboot is a scary word," Feige said. "Reboot can mean a lot of things to a lot of people. Reset, singular timeline – we're thinking along those lines." He added: "X-Men is where that will happen next." Feige also confirmed that, post-Secret Wars, the X-Men will be recast for a movie directed by Thunderbolts* helmer Jake Schreier. Plus, he commented that even characters like Tony Stark and Steve Rogers would be recast eventually. Next up for Marvel is Fantastic Four, which stars Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby as Sue Storm, Ebon Moss-Bachrach as Ben Grimm, and Joseph Quinn as Johnny Storm. That movie arrives on July 24 in the UK and July 25 in the US. In the meantime, check out our guide to all the upcoming Marvel movies and shows or how to watch the Marvel movies in order for even more on the MCU. Solve the daily Crossword

TED LASSO Season 4 First Look; Juno Temple and Brett Goldstein Returning
For a lot of fans (or at least me and a few other people I know), the third season of Apple TV's Ted Lasso left us a bit cold. It was, at the time, touted as the final season and it just seemed like so much story was left on the table. Why should the show end just because Ted (Jason Sudeikis) made the in-real-life-very-smart-but-in-a-show-boring decision to go be with his son? What about all the other people at AFC Richmond? Well, luckily, the people who make the show realized there's more story and are in production on season four. In a new report from Variety, we've learned that Ted Lasso season four is off and rolling with many returning faces as well as a host of new people. Filming has commenced in Kansas City with additional photography in London. We knew Sudeikis would return but now we also know original cast members Hannah Waddingham, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift will all be back as well. New cast includes Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern, and Grant Feely. Marsay you know as Vel in Andor. We also know that Feely is taking over the role of Ted's son Henry. The official logline of the season is: 'Ted returns to Richmond, taking on his biggest challenge yet: coaching a second division women's football team. Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would.' Sudeikis will executive produce in addition to starring. Hunt, Joe Kelly, Jane Becker, Jamie Lee, and Bill Wrubel also executive produce. Goldstein is attached to write and executive produce along with Leanne Bowen. We're certainly happy to see so many of the main players and creatives back for the next chapter. The move of main production from London to Kansas City has us a little concerned. London, and specifically Richmond, was such a huge part of the vibe of the series. But time will tell, and I guess we all have to believe. Kyle Anderson is the Senior Editor for Nerdist.
