Texas A&M senior ranked as one of the top returning Edge rushers per Pro Football Focus
After serving as a rotational defensive lineman/edge behind Shemar Stewart, who the Cincinnati Bengals drafted with the 17th overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft, Howell has become one of the Aggies' most essential players on the roster, as A&M's pass rush dropped off significantly during the program's 1-4 finish to the 2024 campaign.
Standing at 6'4" and over 250 pounds, Howell recorded 26 tackles, four sacks, and seven pass deflections during his first season with the Aggies, while he dominated USC's offensive line during the first half of the Las Vegas Bowl in late December. Possessing the size, speed, and pass rush arsenal to lead the Aggies in sacks and pressures next season, it's important to note that Howell has already proven his worth as a pass rusher.
According to Pro Football Focus, Howell enters the 2025 campaign as the fifth-highest rated edge (82.4), just a spot below Texas edge Collin Simmons, who is considered the best pass rusher in the country by many. With coach Mike Elko now calling defensive plays for the Aggies next season, Howell will line up off the edge, but will be deployed as the primary rusher in different packages, especially in third-down situations.
Texas A&M's defensive line will feature four new edge rushers from the transfer portal. In contrast, freshman edge Marco Jones, who dominated during the Maroon & White spring game, could also make an immediate impact and is slated to see early playing time.

Texas A&M lands commitment from the 2025 Big West Field Player of the Year
Texas A&M head coach Michael Earley is heading west to pick up a talented infielder out of Southern California. On Monday night, Maddox Latta confirmed via social media that he will be transferring to A&M. Latta should be an intriguing addition to the Aggie infield, where every spot is up for grabs—except third base, which is expected to be manned by Gavin Grahovac. 'Should be' is the operative phrase, though, as college baseball's schedule often clashes with the MLB draft. Just like Aggie fans had to wait for Ryan Prager's post-draft decision last season, the same uncertainty surrounds Latta. If he does make it onto campus, he brings immediate offensive output and speed on the basepaths. Last season, Latta started 53 of 56 games and posted a .978 fielding percentage, nearly perfect through the back half of the year. It was also his breakout year offensively, slashing .362/.486/.503—a significant leap from the prior season. His performance earned him 2025 All-Big West First Team honors, the Big West Field Player of the Year award, and a spot as a Brooks Wallace Award semifinalist. Latta would be a fantastic addition to the lineup, but Coach Earley and his staff will have to wait until after the 2025 MLB Draft for his official decision. Texas A&M junior will transfer to Oregon for her senior season
A few weeks after entering the college softball transfer portal, Texas A&M utility player Amari Harper is heading back to the west coast to finish her senior season with the Oregon Ducks. Her decision came as a surprise to Aggie fans, especially following the strong season the team had and Coach Trisha Ford's comments naming Harper as a key piece for the 2026 squad. Advertisement Despite breaking a finger and wearing a splint all season, Harper battled her way back into the lineup and consistently delivered timely hits. Her versatility in both the infield and outfield gave Coach Ford the flexibility to adjust the lineup when the offense began to struggle. The move to Oregon makes sense for Harper, a California native, as it allows her to play for a competitive team closer to home, where friends and family can easily attend games. She leaves Texas A&M with an impressive career slash line of .364/.471/.512, along with nine home runs and 85 RBI. Check out her official announcement on X below. Caitlin Clark crosses important injury recovery milestone
After missing her fifth consecutive game with a left groin injury and her 10th game overall this season, Caitlin Clark crossed an important milestone in her recovery as she works towards potentially returning to action for the Indiana Fever. During the star guard's five-game absence, the Fever have gone 3-2, with three impressive wins over Dallas, Las Vegas and Minnesota in the WNBA Commissioner's Cup championship game. Unfortunately, both losses have come at home against the lowly Los Angeles Sparks, who exposed Indiana's lack of scoring depth without Clark on the court. With Indiana enjoying a few days of rest and preparation before their next game on Wednesday, June 9, Clark gave fans optimism Monday afternoon as she played through a 5-on-5 practice session in front of Fever season-ticket holders. Following the practice session, head coach Stephanie White shared her opinion on Clark's recovery status, stating that the 5-on-5 drill allowed her to see how the franchise cornerstone guard performs in game situations and that the team will have a better idea tomorrow. "I hope so. I think just the same return to play structure that we have is that she gets to do a little bit more, and then we see tomorrow. Is there progress or is there any regression? How does she feel? How does she look? What does recovery look like? And so this was really the first time we've been able to get her out as a live action, so we'll see what it brings tomorrow," White said. White also provided her assessment of Aari McDonald's pairing at guard alongside Clark by saying the former Arizona Wildcat allows for more off-ball action from Clark and gives the team different looks on offense when the Hawkeyes legend needs a breather. "I think it'll be really good for us to be able to get C [Caitlin Clark] off the ball a little bit more in certain situations and playing on the floor with Aari [McDonald] gives her an opportunity to do that. I think we can give her a break. I think we can give her and our team different looks when that happens. So this is really the first time that we've been able to practice that. So I look forward to exploring that a little bit more," White said. While the successful practice session and confidence from coach White does not necessarily give an automatic seal of approval for Clark to make her return on Wednesday, it is a significant milestone moment for her recovery nonetheless. The Fever welcome former Hawkeye Kate Martin and the Golden State Valkyries to Gainbridge Fieldhouse on Wednesday morning, with the game beginning at 11 a.m. CT and broadcasting on NBA TV.
