Other key features comprise 113 underpasses, 5 railway overbridges, 76 km of service roads, 16 entry/exit points, 29 km of elevated roads and 62 bus shelters. It has a 340-metre, three-lane tunnel at Datkali in Dehradun.
According to reports, the prolonged legal battle over a parcel of land at Mandola in Ghaziabad has led to delays, as a two-story house obstructs a crucial section. Authorities are currently awaiting final rulings from the Supreme Court and the High Court. Additionally, a minor disruption occurred in March 2025 when a pillar of the expressway in Saharanpur collapsed, though the situation was quickly brought under control.
Regional Officer of the NHAI Delhi Region, Mohammed Saifi, confirmed that construction of the elevated road up to the Uttar Pradesh border has been completed. Testing has also been finalised, with the final report anticipated within the next 15 days. The expressway is expected to open by late June or early July, reports added.
Travelling from Delhi to Mussoorie is likely to be much faster and more convenient due to the construction of a new 26-kilometre elevated road that will directly connect the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway to the hill station.
The proposed elevated corridor will span the Rispana and Bindal rivers in Dehradun, guaranteeing smooth and uninterrupted vehicle movement. Land acquisition will take place across 26 localities in Dehradun, necessitating the demolition of more than 2,600 houses along the riverbanks. The total estimated cost of the project is ₹ 6,100 crore, which includes both construction expenses and compensation for the displaced residents.

CM Sai flags off new Raipur-Jabalpur Express to enhance tourism & connectivity
Raipur: The new Raipur–Jabalpur Express was flagged off from Raipur railway station on Monday, enhancing connectivity between Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. The express service offers a faster and more convenient route for travellers between Raipur, Gondia, and Jabalpur, with 15 coaches including one AC chair car, four chair cars, eight general coaches, one power car, and one SLR coach. Regular service for train number 11701 will depart from Raipur at 2:45 pm and arrive in Jabalpur at 10:45 pm. Train number 11702 will depart from Jabalpur at 6 am and reach Raipur at 1:50 pm. This new service will be helpful for business travellers, students, tourists, and daily commuters. It will also improve access to tourist destinations like Nandanvan Zoological Park, Maa Bamleshwari Temple, Kanha National Park, and Bhedaghat. Chhattisgarh Chief minister Vishnu Deo Sai and Assembly Speaker Dr Raman Singh flagged off the train from Raipur railway station. The new service, which will connect three states, was launched virtually by Union Ministers Ashwini Vaishnaw and Mansukh Mandaviya from Bhavnagar, Gujarat. At the virtual launch, the Rewa-Pune (Hadapsar) Express and Bhavnagar Terminus-Ayodhya Express were also inaugurated. CM Sai said the new train was a gift to the people of Chhattisgarh from PM Narendra Modi and Railway minister Ashwini Vaishnaw. He thanked them on behalf of the state's 3 crore people. He said that Chhattisgarh's rail budget increased by 21 times in the last decade, with an allocation of Rs 6,900 crore this year. He also highlighted that rail projects worth more than Rs 47,000 crore are underway in the state. CM mentioned that new rail projects have been sanctioned for the Naxal-affected Bastar region, including the Rowghat-Jagdalpur rail line. He added that the new train service would boost tourism, education, and trade between Raipur and Jabalpur. Pilgrimage sites like Dongargarh's Maa Bamleshwari Temple and Bhedaghat in Madhya Pradesh will now be more accessible. The Assembly Speaker described the launch of the Raipur-Jabalpur Express as a historic event that will strengthen connectivity between Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh. He said the train would cover the 410-km journey in just 8 hours. Passengers will now be able to travel easily to Gondia, Balaghat, and Jabalpur, which will also give a push to regional trade and tourism. He pointed out that the 'Amrit Bharat Station Scheme' is redeveloping 32 stations, and passenger amenities are being increased at major stations like Raipur, Bilaspur, and Durg. Samruddhi may divert toll from older state highways
Mumbai: Starting Aug 15, a new Fastag pass priced at Rs 3,000 annually (or 200 trips, whichever is earlier) will be available for motorists using national highways. Experts suggest that the scheme could attract a large number of regular travellers, as the rate will average out to around Rs 15 per trip — over five times lower than current toll charges on many highways. While this may boost one-time revenue collections and encourage more frequent long-distance travel, it is also expected to reduce ongoing toll income on national highways under the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The scheme will not apply to major state highways like Mumbai-Pune Expressway or Samruddhi Mahamarg, which are managed by state agencies. A senior state official said the Samruddhi corridor has opened up access to tourist attractions in Vidarbha and industrial zones, spurring increased travel across the region. Besides Mumbai-Pune Expressway and Samruddhi —the state's top two toll-generating highways—other major revenue-earning highways in the state include: Pune-Satara-Kagal Highway (Pune-Bangalore stretch), Old Mumbai-Nashik Highway, and Mumbai-Ahmedabad (Maharashtra section) Highway. Samruddhi may divert traffic —and toll revenue —from the older Mumbai-Nashik highway, thanks to its superior speed and efficiency, despite slightly higher toll charges. Goa highway remains Maharashtra's most delayed four-laning project. Due to incomplete expansion and public opposition in Konkan, no toll is currently being collected on this route.
