"Ah shit, here we go again": The story behind GTA's most famous quote

Source: Rockstar Games
Rockstar Games'
Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas
released in 2004, and few one-liners have held up so well as CJ's exhausted,
"Ah shit, here we go again."
What started out as a quote in an opening cutscene soon grew to be a cultural touchstone, taking over memes, social media, and even celebrity endeavors.
Let's break down why the generic phrase came to be the internet's boilerplate expression for dealing with yet another headache.
Why "Ah shit, here we go again" is GTA's greatest meme line
Right at the beginning of San Andreas, CJ returns to Los Santos, to be instantly dumped right back into gangland theatrics. After being hassled, he lets out a deep breath,
"Ah shit, here we go again"
and we're with him. That one line exactly sums dread and resignation. Even though the game came out in 2004, it wasn't until a 2015 YouTube upload by
ZMOONCHILD
that the meme began gaining traction online.
Jump forward to April 2019: green-screened versions of CJ walking into any situation went viral. One tweet from
@ChaoticGeekCG
gained thousands of retweets, giving birth to infinite mashups, from Kratos falling into battles to humorous TikToks.
Today, the meme runs through subreddits, Instagram reels, and TikTok in fashion, solidly established as pop culture shorthand for,
"Brace yourself, trouble's here."
How the meme entered mainstream culture and why it endures
The appeal San Andreas retains today revolves around its quotable lines and raw yet humorous tone.
"Ah shit, here we go again"
encapsulates that daily fatigue everyone is familiar with: waking up on Monday, handling drama, or watching a clichéd TV cliche for the umpteenth time. The tone of the meme makes it ideal for innumerable settings and that's why celebrities and even musicians have jumped on the bandwagon through collaborations, remixes, and viral content.
Even mainstream outlets such as the Daily Dot feature it as the definitive meme for frustration and burnout.
Ah shit here we go again meme compilation
From a gritty cutscene in 2004 to TikTok gold gone viral in 2025, CJ's timelessness line demonstrates the strength of simplicity. In fewer than five words,
"Ah shit, here we go again"
evokes universal sentiments of fear, boredom, and irony. It's not only a meme, it's a mood. And as long as life is going to throw curveballs, CJ's sigh of weariness will remain our anthem.

Video: Zohran Mamdani Gets Awkward As Host Plays His Old Clip In Apron During Live Show

Last Updated: In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. New York Democratic mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani was taken aback when his 2019 old rap video that showed him wearing an apron without anything underneath, was played during a live interview on global media outlet CNN. This happened when the 33-year-old politician appeared for Erin Burnett OutFront talk show. Show host Erin Burnett played the assemblyman's rap video suddenly. In the video, Zohran Mamdani, along with several others, was seen dancing at various locations, including inside a food truck. The video was posted on YouTube under the name of Mr. Cardamom. In the throwback video, the state assemblyman was joined by his friends and Indian-born British-American actress Madhur Jaffrey. In one of the visuals, Mamdani was seen rapping while wearing a only black apron. During the conversation, the anchor started playing videos from Mamdani's recent campaigns, including one in which he talked about his birth place and the story about how he got his middle name. As the interview progressed, a snippet from his appearance on The Breakfast Club podcast appeared on the screen. It was followed by Burnett introducing the politician's artistic side and playing the rap clip. As the rap continued, Mamdani, apparently shocked, tried to maintain his composure by smiling. However, eventually, he gave in, saying, 'I didn't think it was going to be on CNN." To which, the host replied, 'It's there and there it is." Later, the video was posted on the official X profile of the Erin Burnett OutFront show with a caption that read, Watch as #NYC Mayoral Candidate Zohran Mamdani watches his past performance as a rapper and responds to critics who say he's not ready to run New York. He speaks one-on-one with @ErinBurnett. Recently, Mamdani faced intense scrutiny from Tennessee Republican Congressman Andy Ogles who publicly questioned the legitimacy of his US citizenship, calling for his deportation if it was fraudulently obtained. Mamdani was born in Uganda to Indian parents and immigrated to the United States two decades ago and became a naturalized US citizen in 2018. Since 2020, he has served in the New York State Assembly and recently clinched the Democratic nomination for mayor of New York City. This 76-year-old song by Legendary Lata Mangeshkar is a superhit, remix also created a sensation, still tops the playlist, the song is.., the remix starred... In the ever-evolving industry of Bollywood, many songs come and go. However, some songs remain etched in the memories of the audience and resonate with them for years to come. One such tale is of a superhit song that came seven decades however, this melody is still a treat to the ears and withstands the test of time. The song that we are talking about is none other than 'Hawa Mein Udta Jaye Mera Laal Dupatta Malmal Ka.'. The song was featured in the film Barsaat, which came out in the year 1949. The song just did not become a blockbuster; rather, it was a phenomenon that still touches an emotional cord with the audience. The film Barsaat was a blockbuster, and it featured legends like Nargis, Premnath, and a debutant Nimmi, who came in the superhit song that redefined her career. The film was set in the scenic valleys of Kashmir and was visually rich. However, it was the song 'Hawa Mein Udta Jaye' that captivated the audiences. The song was sung by the legendary Lata Mangeshkar and composed by the legendary duo Shankar-Jaikishan, and written by Dr. Ramesh Shastri. Besides this, Nimmi looked beautiful in black and white, which encapsulated her natural charm and innocence. Remix that created a sensation Fast-forward to 1997, 48 years after the release of 'Hawa Mein Udta Jaye Mera Laal Dupatta Malmal Ka', its remix came out that featured Gauahar Khan. The remix version was made by Bombay Viking and, unlike the common conception about remixes, this remake also made a mark and quickly became a chartbuster. Keeping the original vibe alive, the remake added a westernised touch that resonates with the new generation audience. From radio channels, DJ nights to other music channels, this song created a ruckus everywhere. What's interesting is that the original and remake, both versions, received equal love and appreciation, making it a hit on the charts for years. A melody that continues to shine Today, even after 76 years, the original version of 'Hawa Mein Udta Jaye' continues to resonate. It has received millions of views on YouTube, and it still has a charm.
