Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom have officially ended their relationship after nearly nine years together. According to People, the pop star and actor, who got engaged in 2019, have decided to call off their engagement and go their separate ways.
The pair first met at a Golden Globes afterparty in 2016 in a moment Perry later recalled fondly. 'I met my boyfriend over In-N-Out," she said on American Idol. 'We were at the Golden Globes and we weren't together… all of a sudden I see my boyfriend's hand — he wasn't even sitting at our table — he just swoops in and he grabs [a burger] and I was like, 'Hey that's my burger!'"
Their relationship quickly became public after they attended the Cannes Film Festival together and made things Instagram official. However, in February 2017, they confirmed they had split, though they remained on friendly terms. 'We're friends, it's good," Bloom said at the time. 'It's better to set an example for kids and show that [breakups] don't have to be about hate."
By early 2018, the pair were seen spending time together again, though sources indicated they were taking things slowly. 'They are not girlfriend and boyfriend… but they do seem very happy together," a source told People. Later that year, they made their red carpet debut at the Gala for the Global Ocean in Monaco.
