Tony Dalton was Cast in Intergalactic Because of His Work on The Last of Us

We don't know much about Naughty Dog's Intergalactic : The Heretic Prophet yet, but we do know that the game has some celebrities in the cast including Kumail Nanjiani ( Silicon Valley ) and Tony Dalton ( Better Call Saul ).
While some (like myself) thought that Dalton's recent appearance in The Last of Us was because he was working on The Heretic Prophet , it's been revealed that it was actually backward, and he was cast in the game because of his work on the series.
Talking to Entertainment Weekly, game director Neil Druckmann revealed that he was a fan of Dalton's work in Better Call Saul , and this was the reason he was cast as Javier Miller—Joel's dad. 'Tony Dalton was my first choice… I just loved his performance so much in Better Call Saul . I jokingly refer to him as the most charming, threatening man I've ever seen on television,' said Druckmann.
As it turns out, Druckmann was so pleased with Dalton's performance on the show that he immediately just gave the Intergalactic job to Dalton. He explains, 'He immediately came to mind, and I just offered it to him on the spot.'
It's not clear who Dalton is going to be playing in Intergalactic yet, but some suspect that he was a kind of mentor to the main character Jordan (Tati Gabrielle) who went missing. If Dalton's previous work is to be a reminder, he does manage to be charming while at the same time very threatening—which could be a hint to his character in the game (who I suspect is another 'Han Solo-type').
For now Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet has no release date, but you can catch Dalton in the latest episode of The Last of Us now on HBO Max.
