Save money on manicures, try out a trend and help your nails stay healthy — all in one product.
While architectural, museum-worthy nail art is a delight to behold and just as fun to wear, some folks are in the camp of wanting to keep their digits in a natural-looking state. If this describes your preferences, you'll be happy to know about the latest manicure craze: ' soap nails. '
Soap nails refers to painting your nails with a sheer, high-shine natural color (think a baby pink, pale beige or milky white) so your nails look like they're practically bare but clean and polished, as though you just washed your hands — hence the soapy name.
Interested in trying it out for yourself? We're pleased to report this latest take on the idea of 'your nails but better' can be achieved quickly and for cheap, with a polish from a HuffPost reader-favorite brand.
The brand Londontown is perhaps best known for its milky Illuminating Nail Concealer, which is a longtime bestseller among HuffPost readers. But the nail care brand makes another home-run product: the Perfecting Nail Veil.
At $15 a bottle, this 'veil' can deliver both a high-shine sheen and some protection to your nails, so you can save money on manicures, try out a trend and help your nails stay healthy all in one product.
The Nail Veil and the Nail Concealer may look similar, but they have slightly different formulas.
The Nail Veil isn't a brightener like the Nail Concealer, but instead offers a bit of color and focuses on providing nourishing ingredients for your nails like alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). AHAs can gently exfoliate your skin (which includes your nails) and remove dead skin cells to promote cell turnover, which naturally slows as we age. So, using a product with AHAs on your nails like the Nail Veil can reduce your nails' visible signs of aging. Plenty of reviewers also mention using this product while letting their nails grow out and heal from gel manicures.
The Nail Veil comes in nine shades, ranging from muted tints that can look natural on different skin tones to get the 'soap nails' look to slightly bolder colors, like a lilac or red that are both still sheer. No. 4, a dusty rose tint, appears to be the most popular.
One of the best parts of the Nail Veil is that, like the Nail Concealer, you can put one to two coats directly on your bare nails and go about your day — no base or top coat required. Your at-home manicure just got the easiest it's ever been, and it might even last longer: Multiple reviewers mention the polish not chipping for weeks.
Soap nails may just be a trend for now, but with how timeless and classic the look is, we have a feeling this one will be sticking around for a while.
Below, check out some promising reviews of the Nail Veil from people who have used and loved it.
'I wanted a neutral, natural looking nail polish and this is an excellent choice. It is surprisingly durable and worth the cost. The manicure lasted over a week without chipping and I use my hands for the usual cooking, cleaning, and all the stuff that you do around the house - those things that usually chip your nails. I took them off for a few days and my nails are beginning to peel again so I will be using solar oil for a day or two then reapplying the polish to save them.' — Book Lady
'I LOVE the quick dry time, and hard finish of this product. Yes, it is more expensive, but especially if you aren't great at painting your own nails, I would recommend this product because it smooths itself so easily and dries much more quickly than regular nail polish. NOTE* It's not a traditional polish, it's a nail correcting pigment, but I love natural and neutral colors and two coats of this is a beautiful light pink/purple tone, not to mention it's a harder, more chip resistant result. Will be buying more colors!' — Amazon Customer
'As a stay at home Mom, I needed a simple way to protect my nails during the day. This nail veil fits the bill. It protects and nourishes my nails while being a color that looks natural and compliments my skin tone. ' — Meghan S.
'I love this product and gave already recommended it to others. When I don't want a lot of color, just a clean, polished, natural look, this is my go to. The best part is, it makes my nails stronger and visibly BETTER within days after application. I don't know how, but every time, it works. They grow longer, look better, and don't break. This product has changed my nails and I love it.' — RJ

"He Constantly Kissed His Dog": 22 Hilariously Petty Reasons Why People Dumped Their Partner

We recently asked members of the BuzzFeed Community to tell us the pettiest reasons they broke up with someone, and their submissions are actually hysterical. Here's what they had to say: 1."I didn't go on a date with someone because they heard my accent (I'm from London) and asked how I 'got so good at talking American since it's not my first language.'' —steffimac25 2."We were selecting a movie at the video store (yes, I'm that old), and he went down a different aisle than I did. I turned the corner, and he was knuckle deep in his nose. He pulled out the biggest booger I've ever seen in my life and then rolled and flicked it. Date over." —smellychef995 3."He called me kiddo. I paused. Replayed it in my head in case I heard it wrong. I broke up with him right there and then. I have worked too hard for too long to be reduced to 'kiddo.'" —nastyskeleton263 4."I was dating this guy in high school who was very sweet but super shy, and we did NOT have the same sense of humor. When I broke up with him, I told him we just didn't have similar enough personalities, including a sense of humor. He asked what I meant, and I told him that I really love a good bit, and it's very important to me to laugh in a relationship. He looked super confused for a minute and then finally asked what a bit was. I knew it was for sure over then." —Anonymous, 20, Illinois 5."I dated this guy for a while, but couldn't get over how he constantly kissed his dog more than the average person. It was wild how much he showed affection to the dog over people." —Anonymous, 38, SC 6."She would refer to herself in the third person. She'd be like 'Well, Shelly doesn't like that.' WELL, GUESS WHAT? Jake doesn't like THAT." —Anonymous, 37 TX 7."In my opinion, this was not petty, but very much deserved. I had a pretty great boyfriend, aside from minimal red flags. Well, this man spent the night in my apartment. I was horrified to find that he both did not wash his hands and did not brush his teeth more than three times a week. I dumped him later that day." —Anonymous, 27 CA 8."I did not know what to get him for Christmas so I dumped him." —Anonymous 9."I hated the way he swallowed water from his water bottle. He'd throw his head back as far as it would go and hold the water bottle straight up. But the angle of his neck from being that far back made the water have to SQUUUIIIISSHHH through his esophagus, and it was always the loudest, squishiest gulping noise. I couldn't stand the sound anymore." —Anonymous, 48 Minneapolis 10."This man would text me with no punctuation. One of his literal texts he sent was this: 'okay sounds good I'll be there at 7 maybe idk it depends traffic has been crazy but good day how was yours' I mean, I could understand it, but I'm not finna decode a whole riddle every time I see your text bubble show up." —Anonymous, 35, NY 11."She said she didn't like cheesecake. I was looking forward to the last slice in the fridge. She ate it because she said there was nothing to eat. The house was full of food, she just didn't want to cook." —Anonymous, 40, Canada 12."We had been dating for a few months. We put on a movie for the kids, and I looked over and he was crying. It was Chicken Run. That was it for me." —Anonymous 13."I once broke up with a guy because I couldn't stand his laugh. And humor is my biggest turn-on! But his laugh was my biggest turn-off." —Anonymous, 41, Toronto 14."I found out his younger sister had the same name and hair color as me. He said and moaned the nickname he also used for her while we were doing the deed, and I couldn't help but think he was into his sister after that." —Anonymous, 28, USA 15."I dated a guy who looked amazing in real life and on paper. Handsome, tall, rich family, great school, was a doctor, dressed well, super hardworking, and texted back immediately. Literally everything you'd want in a partner. HOWEVER! He chewed very loudly with his mouth open all the time! Like I could fully see the back of his throat, and food would sometimes fall out of his mouth. We actually managed to somehow date each other for months while only going to the restaurant together twice, and I broke up with him after the second time because it gave me the ick to watch him eat." —Anonymous, 34, Chicago 16."He was an Android user." —Anonymous, 25, PA 17."I had started dating a guy who worked at Home Depot. Not my usual type, but he was nice and quite good-looking, so why not? A few weeks in, we were having drinks, and he mentioned that I would never guess his nickname at work. It was Hollywood. As a professional career woman, I and never saw him again." —Anonymous, 65, the villages fl 18."I broke up with my girlfriend because she would always put on lip gloss before we would make out." —Anonymous, 17, Indiana 19."I dumped her because of the sound of her voice. She was perfect in every way. Smart, funny, and beautiful. And we had so much in common. But I just couldn't stand listening to her talk. We broke up, and a year later, we met again, and I couldn't imagine why in the world I broke up with such a perfect creature. But one week later, I knew: it was the voice. I felt terrible about it, but I knew we couldn't stay together." —Anonymous, 50, Netherlands 20."I am Mexican with a large family. When I was 18, I was dating another Mexican with a large family. One weekend, we attended a family event for me on Saturday. There was drinking, eating, and so on. On Sunday, we were at a family event for her, and all the same stuff was happening. I realized I would be doubling the family nonsense I already deal with, and doubling it was not something I wanted. I broke up with her." —Anonymous, 53, Mexico 21."Bro really had the audacity to tell me he didn't like my cat." —Anonymous, 18 WI finally, "I didn't dump the guy, but he dumped me. We had an amazing lunch date. Went shopping for a few things. It was still early in the day, so we headed back to my house to hang out. We got back to my house, and he had 'an emergency.' He had two young kids, and I was like OK, cool, I'll talk to you later. He sent me a text about a half hour later, saying he didn't see our relationship going anywhere because I didn't 'need' him. I asked what he meant, and he said, 'You didn't ask me to hold any of your stuff when we were shopping, and you knew what you were looking for at Home Depot.' I guess being able to take care of myself is a problem?" —Anonymous, 41, Georgia What's the pettiest reason you dumped someone? After The Whole American Eagle Backlash, It's Emerged That Syndey Sweeney Is Indeed A Republican

Sydney Sweeney is a registered Republican. A viral post on X by the user @time222smoke first claimed that the actor was a registered member of the party. According to publicly available voter registration records that BuzzFeed viewed, Sydney has been registered to the Republican Party of Florida since June 2024. The news comes after Sydney faced backlash for her "great jeans" American Eagle ad, in which she said, "Genes are passed down from parent to offspring, often determining traits like eye color, personality, and even hair color. My jeans are blue." Related: White House communications manager Steven Cheung subsequently called criticism that the ad acted as a right-wing signal for whiteness "dense liberal thinking" and 'cancel culture run amok.' Related: Sydney previously faced criticism in 2022 for posting a series of photos from a "surprise hoedown" she'd thrown for her mother's birthday, in which guests wore MAGA-style hats and one was spotted seemingly wearing a "Blue Lives Matter" shirt. In response, Sydney said at the time, "An innocent celebration for my moms milestone 60th birthday has turned into an absurd political statement, which was not the intention. Please stop making assumptions." BuzzFeed has reached out to representatives for Sydney for comment. Also in Celebrity: Also in Celebrity: Also in Celebrity: Solve the daily Crossword

Transform Your Space With These 41 Boho Home Finds

Hi there! I'm Sally Elshorafa — Home and Garden Editor here at BuzzFeed. A roll of peel-and-stick wallpaper with a vibrant print of woodland creatures, florals, and lush foliage that'll bring a bold hit of jungle-inspired charm to your walls. Designed by Justina Blakeney, it's bold, detailed, and bursting with life. Use it to add a lush focal point to a neutral room or go full maximalist and use it in a room that's already drenched in color. Promising review: "We put this up almost two years ago, and it's still holding up well. Had no adhesion issues. It's easy and quick to install and reposition. We put this up over gross old faking '70s paneling. I still love it after two years. The colors are great for being able to accent with pillows and blankets." —Ashfree Get it from Target for $34. A set of four macrame hanging planters made of 100% cotton cord if you're short on floor space but not on plants. These are especially great for plants that have trails, like a string of pearls or any variety of pothos. A set of two velvet throw pillow covers can add that rich, layered look your setup might be missing. The jewel tone colors will shift with the light in a way that makes everything around it look a little more intentional, and the soft velvet will play nicely with woven textures, tasseled blankets, or anything else you've got going on. A 100% natural wool Moroccan kiln pouf to bring texture and color to your space. Each one is made from vintage textiles, so no two are exactly alike. Sit back, relax, and watch as rainbows scatter across your walls and ceiling. A 16-piece terracotta dinnerware set to bring earthy, sun-baked warmth to every meal. The amber reactive glaze gives each plate and bowl a slightly different finish, so your table will look perfectly imperfect in the best way. Bonus: put a few decorative or sentimental objects and a nice catchall on the top to create a little decor moment. An ornate mirror will bring just the right amount of drama to your wall. The antique gold finish is soft, not shiny, so it'll play nice with your plants and rattan without veering too much into Versailles cosplay. Handblown in Mexico from recycled glass, these amber-speckled stunners are basically jewelry for your home. Use them for wine, spritzes, or a delicious after-dinner cocktail. A colorful rug if you want your floor to be the most interesting thing in your room. The floral medallion print looks like it belongs in a museum gift shop (in a very good way), and the mix of orange, garnet, and blue gives it that vintage look. It's power-loomed and stain-resistant, so it'll survive both regular traffic and the occasional spill of wine. Promising review: "This carpet has totally transformed my living space. My last carpet was one color and smaller. This carpet has so many beautiful colors, and it reaches much further, making my space appear larger and happier! Decorating is one of my favorite things to do. I have a very eclectic/boho style, and lighting is huge for me.
