Driver suffers life-threatening injuries in Isanti County Fair crash, officials say
WCCO has reached out to the Isanti County Sheriff's Office for more information about the collision, which occurred during a demolition derby-style event at the grandstand called "Night of Destruction — WRECKFEST."
Fair officials say the driver was airlifted to North Memorial Health in Robbinsdale, and his condition is unknown as of Friday morning.

Man in his 50s dies after motorbike crash on motorway
Police are appealing for witnesses after a man in his 50s was killed in a motorbike crash last night. Emergency services were called at around 8.15pm last night (August 1) to reports of a crash on the M60. The incident took place on the clockwise carriage between junctions 18 and 19, and police have confirmed no other vehicles were involved. Tragically, the man was declared dead at the scene, despite the best efforts of paramedics to save his life. Police are now asking for witnesses to come forward so that they can understand the circumstances leading up to the crash. "At around 8:15pm yesterday (1/8/25) we were called to reports of a single-vehicle RTC involving a motorcycle travelling clockwise on the M60 between junctions 18 and 19. "Despite best efforts of the emergency services, a male in his 50s sadly died at the scene of the collision. "No other vehicles were involved, and we are now appealing for more information to understand the circumstances that led up to the collision. Southern California traveling nurse arrested for child exploitation
Authorities are seeking additional victims of a Southern California traveling nurse who was arrested on allegations of child exploitation in July. Ameen Zarinkhil, 29, was arrested on July 12 on suspicion of attempting to meet with a minor for sexual acts, according to a news release from the Los Angeles Police Department. Since his arrest, Zarinkhil has been charged with one count each of attempting to meet a minor for sexual acts, attempting to create child pornography and sending harmful material to a child. He is free on $100,000 bail, court records show. Zarinkhil is credential at both West Hills Hospital and San Dimas Community Hospital, police said. "Detectives have released the suspect's booking photo due to this position of trust within the community," LAPD said. "They believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward." Woman pleads guilty to role in Feeding Our Future fraud scheme after arrest before Dubai flight
A 50-year-old woman has pleaded guilty to her role in the Feeding Our Future fraud scheme, according to court documents. According to an agreement filed Friday in the U.S. District Court of Minnesota, Hibo Daar pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud. Daar in November 2020 applied to open a food distribution site in Minneapolis using Northside Wellness Center Corporation, a for-profit company in which she was executive director, in the Federal Children Nutrition Program under the sponsorship of Feeding Our Future, court documents said. The application was submitted together with the nonprofit's founder, Aimee Bock. The site claimed to serve 52,000 meals in January 2021. Prosecutors say that by April of that same year, they claimed to serve 40,000 meals every week. The business asked for over $2.4 million in reimbursement claims, according to court documents. A bank account that Daar controlled received more than $1.7 million from those claims. Charges said Daar transferred hundreds of thousands of dollars to family, associates and herself. She also paid $72,000 in kickbacks from Northside Wellness to a Feeding Our Future employee to make sure the reimbursement claims were processed. Federal agents took Daar into custody at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport before she could board a flight to Dubai in May 2025, the U.S. Attorney's Office said. According to the plea agreement, Daar could pay up to $1,790,095 in restitution. She faces up to 20 years in prison and a maximum fine of $250,000. Her next hearing is scheduled for Sunday afternoon, according to court documents. At least forty-five defendants, including Daar, have pleaded guilty or been convicted in the Justice Department's Feeding Our Future investigation. Bock, who was convicted for her role in the scheme in March, has since filed motions requesting acquittal. The scheme diverted $250 million in federal funds during a time when the rules were relaxed in order to keep the U.S. economy running.
