BJP MP Ravi Kishan gives Samosa example to demand law to regulate food prices
During the Zero Hour, Ravi Kishan said there is no uniformity of prices of single food items or dishes and quality. "Somewhere you get a Samosa at X rate in a dhaba while it is served at Y price point," he said adding, the size of samosas also vary.

The lawmaker said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has brought in many transformative changes but this segment has not got its due attention.
"Therefore, I demand that the government bring a law to regulate prices of food items, their quality and quantity so that customers get them at affordable prices," he said.
Another BJP MP, Damodar Damodar Agarwal, raised the issue of illegal mining and blasting done by Jindal Saw Ltd in his constituency, Bhilwara, Rajasthan. He alleged that illegal mining had caused ecological destruction and environmental pollution.
Agarwal claimed that the mining goes unabated despite intense protests and demanded the Centre take an action to stop it.

PM-KISAN payout helps farmers buy diesel for tractors in State
New Delhi: As Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, farmers in Karnataka and Tamil Nadu on Saturday expressed gratitude, saying the scheme has significantly helped them buy diesel for tractors, and pay wages to labourers. The PM-KISAN scheme has been a crucial support for farmers during difficult times. In Karnataka's Dharwad district, farmers said that the PM-KISAN initiative is making a positive impact on their agricultural activities. The funds help not only in purchasing seeds and fertilisers but also in managing household expenses, including school and college fees for their children. The scheme, launched by the PM Modi government, aims to provide income support to small and marginal farmers across the country. Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmers receive Rs 6,000 annually in three equal installments directly into their bank accounts. Speaking to IANS, farmers shared how the scheme has improved their lives. Nagappa Ganiger, a farmer from Dharwad, said, 'The PM-KISAN scheme has been a great help during tough times. It has enabled me to buy diesel for tractors and pay wages to labourers on time. So far, 20 installments have been credited to my account without fail. I am thankful to Prime Minister Modi.' Another farmer, Basavaraj Gunjal, added, 'With the aim of doubling farmers' income, Prime Minister Modi has introduced several farmer-friendly initiatives. The Rs 6,000 annual support through PM-KISAN has been a real benefit. On behalf of all farmers, I express my sincere thanks to him.'

Revanth fires salvo at Modi on continuing as PM
Hyderabad: Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Saturday fired a salvo at Prime Minister Narendra Modi (who will turn 75 this September) for seemingly holding on to the prime minister post despite the BJP's ideological parent RSS' insinuation that leaders (of the sangh pariwar) should demit office on attaining 75 years. The Chief Minister predicted that BJP will win not more than 150 Lok Sabha seats in the next General Election. He was delivering a speech on 'Constitutional Challenges - Perspectives and Pathways' at a conference organized at Vigyan Bhavan in New Delhi on Saturday. The Chief Minister pointed out that Modi had been holding on to chief minister and prime minister chairs since 2001. To months back, RSS Sarsanghchalak Mohan Bhagwat expressed the organisation's considered opinion that leaders should demit office upon attaining 75 years. The Chief Minister went ballistic at Modi for overlooking the RSS's viewpoint and choosing to remain in the PM chair. Revanth demanded to know why Modi was not relinquishing the PM post, though the age limit rule had been applied to senior BJP leaders LK Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi. Revanth Reddy contested BJP MP Nishikant Dubey's statement 'without Modi, BJP will not get even 150 seats'. Under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi, the Congress will register a resounding victory in the next general election and 'BJP's tally in the Lok Sabha will not cross 150', Revanth observed. Asserting that Rahul Gandhi will dethrone Modi from the PM chair in the next elections -- something that could not be done by RSS and former Prime Minister Vajpayee -- he said that Rahul, as ordinary worker of the Congress, had been fighting for the last 25 years for the uplift of the poor, Dalits, Adivasi as well as OBCs and securing for them social justice. Referring to Telangana's success story in coming up with its unique Socio Economic and Caste Census (SECC), Revanth Reddy said that achieving social justice for OBCs was a big challenge and only the Congress can fulfill the aspirations of the backward communities. During Bharat Jodo Yatra in Telangana, Rahul Gandhi had made the promise of coming up with the caste census. Telangana people opened the doors of "Mohabbat ki Dookan' and gave their mandate to the Congress in Telangana. Soon after coming to power, the 'People's government' in Telangana conducted the caste census to provide 42 per cent BC quota in education, employment and political opportunities in local bodies. Caste Census meant rendering social justice to the backward communities, the Chief Minister underlined. The Chief Minister took potshots at BJP leaders for repeatedly questioning the contribution of the Congress to the country.

Rahul alleges Jaitley threatened him on farm laws, BJP rubbishes charge
Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Saturday claimed that former finance minister Arun Jaitley had threatened him to not speak against the farm laws else he would face action, a charge rubbished by the BJP as 'fake news' and asked him to stick to facts instead. However, the Centre had to repeal the contentious farm laws in November 2021 following widespread protests by farmers. Rohan Jaitley, son of the former Union minister, also slammed Rahul over his remarks, asking the Congress leader to 'let the departed Rest in Peace'. Addressing Congress' annual legal conclave at the Vigyan Bhawan, Rahul said: 'I remember when I was fighting the farm laws — he's not here anymore, so I really shouldn't say it, but I will — Arun Jaitley ji was sent to me to threaten me.' Rahul went on to add: 'He said to me, 'If you carry on down this path, opposing the government and fighting us on the farm laws, we will have to take action against you. I looked at him in the face and said, I think you don't know or have an idea who you're talking to. Because, we are Congress people, and we're not cowards. We never bend; the superpower British couldn't bend us and who the hell are you?' The BJP hit back at Rahul, saying the farm laws were brought in 2020 while Jaitley passed away in 2019 and asked the Congress leader to stick to facts instead of rewriting timelines to 'suit narratives'. BJP IT cell head Amit Malviya wrote on X: 'Fake News Alert. Rahul Gandhi claims that Arun Jaitley approached him to water down his opposition to the 2020 farm laws. Let's set the record straight -- Arun Jaitley ji passed away on August, 24 2019. The draft Farm Bills were brought to the Union Cabinet on June 3, 2020. The laws were enacted in September 2020,' he said. 'To suggest Arun Jaitley ji approached him for anything at all is factually incorrect and misleading,' he said. No BJP leader threatened us: SAD leader Naresh Gujral Reacting to Rahul's statement, former MP and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Naresh Gujral said: 'The SAD was part of the NDA, and we left them on the issue of the farm laws. No BJP leader threatened us, forget about Arun Jaitley, who was a thorough gentleman. So when the leader of Opposition speaks like this, he only damages his own credibility. I would urge him to be more careful in the future.' 'I am truly shocked and very pained to hear about what Rahul has to say about my late dear and close friend Arun Jaitley ji. The whole world knows that he was a true democrat. Everybody knows he was a gentleman who would never use this kind of threat or this kind of dialogue. When Rahul says things like that, he only hurts his own credibility,' Gujral said.
