Spiritual speaker Aniruddhacharya, aka Pookie Baba's recent remarks implying that women who are unmarried at 25 or older are promiscuous, has led to widespread outrage. The Mathura-based religious speaker made the sexist remark during a religious event at Vrindavan's Gauri Gopal Ashram.
In a video, that is going viral on social media ever since, Anirudhacharya can be heard saying, 'Ab ladki late hai 25 saal ki. Ab 25 saal ki ladki chaar jagah mu maar chuki hoti hai. Sab nahi par bahut. Aur wo 25 saal ki jab aati hai toh puri jawan hoke aati hai. Jab jawan hoke aayegi toh swabhavik hai ki uski jawani kahi fisal jaegi." (Now girls are marrying at the age of 25. By then, many, not all, have been in relationships with multiple men.
By the time a woman is 25, she is fully grown. It is only natural that by then, her youth has slipped away somewhere).

The video has taken the internet by storm and was condemned as misogynistic and regressive. His remarks have drawn criticism from women's rights advocates and public figures. The Mathura Bar Association condemned the remarks, and a group of lawyers met the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) in Mathura, demanding legal action against the seer.

The women lawyers protested against the sexist remarks and demanded stern action against him. "Such derogatory and sexist remarks are not expected from a religious personality... it shows his rotten mentality,'' they said during the protest.
Khushboo Patani, a former Indian Army officer and sister of Bollywood actress Disha Patani, slammed Aniruddhacharya's remarks. In a video shared on social media, she questioned the double standards in Aniruddhacharya's speech, adding that a live-in relationship involves two consenting adults, and yet, the criticism is made only against the women.
She also called out the spiritual orator for the sexist remarks.

Following the outrage, Aniruddhacharya posted a video on social media saying he only meant 'some women, not all'. He also added that the keywords from his speech were edited out before the video went viral, 'so as to create a false narrative'.
In a video shared on Instagram on Saturday, he said, 'Radhe Radhe. Aap logon ke dwara humein soochna mili ki kuch behnein naraaz hain is baat ko lekar, kyunki unhone aadhi adhoori video suni.
Us video mein kaha gaya ki aaj kal 25 saal ki ladki... dekhiye baat yahaan ja rahi thi ki kuch ladkiyaan aisi hoti hain jo live-in mein rehkar chaar jagah mooh maar chuki hoti hain. Aur jab woh kisi ghar ki bahu banengi, toh kya woh rishte ko nibha payengi? Isliye, ladka ho ya ladki, dono ko pehle charitrawaan hona chahiye.
Yeh baat kuch ladkiyon ke liye thi, sab ke liye nahi."
("Radhe Radhe. I have been informed by some of you that a few sisters are upset because they listened to an incomplete video.
In that video, it was said that nowadays, a 25-year-old girl... Look, the point being made was that some girls are such that they have been in live-in relationships and are involved with multiple men. And when such a girl becomes the daughter-in-law of a household, will she be able to maintain that relationship? That's why, whether it's a boy or a girl, both should be of good character first.
This statement was meant for some girls, not all.")

Meet Elizaveta Krivonogikh, the secret daughter of Vladimir Putin

Elizaveta Krivonogikh , also known by her social media alias Luiza Rozova , has long lived in the shadows of speculation—allegedly as the secret daughter of Russian President Vladimir Putin . Now 22, she is stepping into the spotlight with a bold public stance, revealing her face and voice after years of silence. Elizaveta recently posted emotional messages on her private Telegram channel, seemingly referencing her father. In one of her posts, she wrote, 'The man who took millions of lives and destroyed mine,' signaling a sharp criticism of Putin's actions and their personal impact on her life. According to reports in Bild , cited by The Sun , she added, 'It's liberating to be able to show my face to the world again. It reminds me of who I am and who destroyed my life.' Russian investigative outlet Proekt first brought the alleged connection to light in 2020, suggesting financial support from Putin. Now living in Paris, Elizaveta graduated from the ICART School of Cultural and Art Management in June 2024. She currently works under the name Elizaveta Rudnova —a possible nod to Putin's late confidant Oleg Rudnov—at L Galerie in Belleville and Espace Albatros in Montreuil. These galleries are known for their anti-war exhibitions and support for dissident art. Live Events Her involvement in the art world hasn't gone unnoticed. Russian artist Nastya Rodionova cut ties with the galleries, arguing that no one connected to the Kremlin—biologically or otherwise—should share space with war victims. Yet others in the Parisian art scene have defended Elizaveta. Dmitry Dolinsky, director of L Association, stated, 'She looks like Putin, but so do 100,000 other people. I haven't seen a DNA test.' Colleagues describe her as professional, cultured, and committed to her work. Elizaveta's mother, Svetlana, was sanctioned by the UK government in 2023 due to her ties to Putin's inner circle, further fueling belief in the family connection. Once a symbol of wealth and privilege, Elizaveta Krivonogikh has redefined herself as an artist and critic of the regime many believe her father controls. Whether or not a DNA test confirms her lineage, her journey is one of a young woman trying to reclaim her identity and voice in a world shaped by power, secrecy, and war.

SC issues notice on challenge to section 9 of Citizenship Act over automatic termination of Indian citizenship

New Delhi, Aug 4 (UNI) The Supreme Court today issued notice on a plea challenging the constitutional validity of Section 9 of the Citizenship Act, 1955, which provides for the automatic termination of Indian citizenship upon the voluntary acquisition of foreign citizenship. A Bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi tagged the matter with a pending case, Dr Radhika Thappeta v. Union of India, which raises a similar issue concerning revocation of Overseas Citizenship of India (OCI) status. The Court also issued notice on an interim application filed by the petitioner seeking protection from being required to renounce Indian citizenship in order to acquire foreign citizenship, while the constitutional challenge to Section 9 is under consideration. The petition was filed by Sanjay Gundlagutta Reddy, a US-based Economics professor of Indian origin, who, despite living in New York for several years, continues to identify as an Indian citizen. He argues that Section 9(1) is arbitrary, disproportionate, and violates fundamental constitutional rights, particularly the right to equality and personal liberty. During the hearing, Justice Surya Kant initially questioned the petitioner's counsel Advocate Warisha Farasat, asking, 'You are an eminent person. But what grievance is there…if you are so keen for Indian citizenship, you surrender the foreign citizenship and get the Indian one?' However, after hearing her submissions including reference to a previous case where the Supreme Court had granted interim relief on similar grounds the Bench agreed to issue notice and listed the matter for hearing after two weeks. Key arguments in the Petition are that Section 9 imposes a 'Hobson's choice' on Indians abroad, either acquire foreign citizenship and lose Indian nationality or retain Indian citizenship at great personal and professional cost. It fails to consider the global mobility and dual loyalty of Indian-origin individuals who maintain cultural and emotional ties with India The provision does not offer any discretionary or adjudicatory mechanism, resulting in automatic cessation of citizenship. The petitioner highlights that non-citizens globally face precarious legal status, with risks of deportation and limited access to rights. The petition, filed through Advocate-on-Record Yashwant Singh, seeks a reconsideration of India's citizenship framework to better align with contemporary realities of global Indian diaspora. The outcome of this case could have far-reaching implications for Indian-origin individuals across the world, particularly in how India defines and regulates its citizenship laws in a globalized era. Telugu states top South India in court case backlog

Hyderabad: The Telugu states have recorded the highest rise in pending cases among South Indian states in district and subordinate courts, with a worrying 38% spike in pendency between 2020 and 2025. In Telangana, the number of pending cases grew from 6.91 lakh on Dec 31, 2020, to 9.54 lakh as of July 28, 2025. Similarly, Andhra Pradesh saw its backlog increase from 6.49 lakh to 8.99 lakh during the same period. Legal experts say the reasons behind the surge are multifold, from habitual adjournments to unfilled judicial vacancies and poor witness turnout. 'The biggest problem in both states is that instead of aiming for closure, parties or their advocates keep seeking adjournments. Even a simple case ends up dragging for years,' said Ch Sudheer Kumar, senior advocate from Hyderabad. The same goes for doctors and witnesses.' Another major hurdle is the shortage of judges. 'Vacant posts are worsening the problem. In-charge judges, already overburdened, can only assign new hearing dates and rarely get to conduct actual proceedings,' Kumar pointed out. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like 20 Pieces of Clothing you should Ditch over 40 Learn More Undo Renuka Yeradesi, another senior advocate, said litigants are also partly responsible. 'Clients often hide information, especially in family court matters. Once one side makes an allegation, the other comes up with a counter without revealing the full picture. This delays the trial process further,' she said. According to figures presented in the Lok Sabha, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka reported relatively lower increases in pending cases, at 24.5% and 29.3%, respectively. Kerala, notably, reduced its pendency by 16.47% over the same period. Nationally, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana stand at eighth and ninth positions in terms of pendency growth. Though the absolute numbers are fewer, Manipur topped the list with a staggering 98% increase, followed by Jammu and Kashmir and West Bengal.
