1 Teen, 15, Dead and Another, 14, Hospitalized in 'Serious Condition' After Jet Ski Crash

One teenager is dead, and another was seriously injured after a jet ski crash in Sydney.
The New South Wales Police Department shared in a press release that it launched an investigation into the accident, which occurred on Sydney's south shore and killed one 15-year-old boy and left a 14-year-old boy hospitalized.
Police said the incident took place on Tuesday, July 22 at around 6 p.m. They received reports of a 'jet ski crash' that left 'persons in the water' and arrived on the scene on the Sylvania side of Tom Uglys Bridge on the Georges River to investigate.
Officers found a 15-year-old boy already 'deceased in the water,' who was 'unable to be revived.' A 14-year-old 'was treated at the scene for a severed arm.'
The teenager was sedated and placed into an induced coma before being transported to the hospital, according to The Nightly and 7News Australia. He was later transported in 'serious condition' to Sydney Children's hospital by paramedics, police said.
'A crime scene has been established and investigations commenced into the circumstances surrounding the incident,' police said in a statement.
The boys had been riding on the same jet ski when the crash occurred, according to initial reports from The Nightly and the Australian Broadcasting Corporation (ABC). Sutherland Shire Police Area Command Inspector Tim Carter said in a news conference, per ABC, that they suspected they hit something prior to the accident.
"At this stage, it would appear the jet ski has collided with an object or obstacle in the water, which has then thrown these two boys from the jet ski, where they have sustained these injuries," he said, per the outlet.
The New South Wales Police Department did not immediately respond to PEOPLE's request for additional information on the incident.

One witness, Alexandra Farrugia, told ABC that she had seen a body floating near the bridge while walking nearby with her partner.
"We just saw a lot of lights on the water, a lot of police on the water, and they brought someone up on his stomach," she recalled.
The Georges River, where the jet ski crash occurred, is a popular site for people riding various water crafts including jet skis and boats, according to Sky News.

Sen. Graham Calls For ‘Investigation' Into Obama — Playing Into Trump's Epstein Distraction

Sen. Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) said he is not calling for the 'prosecution' of former President Barack Obama but does want an 'investigation' after President Donald Trump accused Obama of committing treason. While appearing Sunday on NBC's 'Meet the Press' host Kristen Welker asked Graham directly if he thinks Obama committed treason. 'I'm not alleging he committed treason, but I am saying it bothers me, it's disturbing that this is new information,' Graham replied.'... I'm not calling for prosecution against President Obama for treason. But I am calling for an investigation.' Graham's comments came after Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard on Wednesday declassified documents that she said could implicate members of the Obama administration for 'treasonous' behavior during the 2016 election. Last week, President Donald Trump accused his predecessor of committing treason and rigging the 2016 election. Trump abruptly pivoted to calling out Obama after reporters in the Oval Office asked him about Jeffrey Epstein. Obama's office issued a rare rebuke of Trump's 'bizarre' claims, calling the world leader's attack 'a weak attempt at distraction.' The Trump administration has faced scrutiny over the controversy surrounding disgraced financier and sex offender Epstein. The criticism ramped up after the Department of Justice and FBI released a two-page memo earlier this month. The memo said their Epstein investigation determined that there was no evidence Epstein was murdered in prison or had a 'client list' of powerful people he could potentially blackmail. Since the memo's release, both Republicans and Democrats have called on the Trump administration to release more information. 'Well, I think somebody needs to look at what we found,' Graham continued. 'The intel committee looked at the matter. And they said in 2017, the intelligence analysis of 2017 showing that Russia was trying to interfere in our election was real. They didn't achieve their goal. But what she found, Ms. Gabbard, is that in 2016, the intelligence community told President Obama, 'There's no evidence that Russia was involved in trying to change the outcome of the election.' 'And he supposedly told a group of people, 'Keep looking.' And the analysis changed. So what we're looking at is, what role did Obama play in 2016 to change the narrative that resulted in 2017?' Graham went on to say that the 'best way to handle this' is to create a special counsel. 'If there is evidence of a crime being committed or suspected evidence of a crime being committed, create a special counsel to look at it. I think that's the best way to go,' he added. Several bystanders who were near the building when the incident occurred told KSHB they helped pull shoppers out from the rubble. Photos taken from the scene show police tape keeping onlookers away from dislodged bricks and other pieces of the wrecked building in the street. Hopkins told the local outlets that he didn't have information tied to when the building was last inspected. He added that the KCFD plans to look into the store's records, to see if any reports were made in the past about the building's structural integrity. Hopkins said the Kansas City Police Department (KCPD) will now take over the investigation. In a statement to PEOPLE, a Family Dollar spokesperson said, "We are deeply saddened by the tragedy at the leased Family Dollar store on Broadway Boulevard in Kansas City." "Our hearts and thoughts are with those impacted.
