‘Victorious' Spinoff ‘Hollywood Arts' in Development at Nickelodeon

Yahoo07-02-2025
A new 'Victorious' spinoff is in the works at Nickelodeon, TheWrap has learned.
The network is in the midst of developing a series centered on Trina Vega (Daniella Monet), the older sister of 'Victorious' lead Tori (Victoria Justice). Its working title, 'Hollywood Arts,' is a reference to the fictitious performing arts high school featured in 'Victorious.'
If it receives an official greenlight from Nickelodeon, the comedy will follow Monet's Trina as she returns to Hollywood Arts High School as a teacher. In addition to leading the series, Monet is also attached as an executive producer alongside writers Samantha Martin and Jake Farrow, the latter of whom previously worked as a writer and producer on both 'Victorious' and its first spinoff 'Sam & Cat.'
Monet and fellow 'Victorious' co-star Avan Jogia posted about 'Hollywood Arts' on their respective Instagram Stories on Thursday. Jogia wrote that he 'could not be happier' for Monet, to which she responded, 'Love you.'
Created by 'Quiet on Set' subject Dan Schneider, 'Victorious' follows the teenage students of an elite performing arts school as they regularly get into wacky hijinks while pursuing their own artistic dreams. The series ran on Nickelodeon for four seasons from 2010 to 2013.
The core 'Victorious' cast not only included Justice, Monet, Jogia, Leon Thomas III, Matt Bennett and Liz Gillies, but also, notably, a then-up-and-coming Ariana Grande. The 'Wicked' star subsequently reprised her role as Cat Valentine in the joint 'Victorious' and 'iCarly' spinoff 'Sam & Cat,' which only lasted one year on Nickelodeon but ran for 35 episodes in that time.
Schneider, who created 'Victorious,' 'Sam & Cat' and a number of other Nickelodeon shows, is not involved in 'Hollywood Arts.' The producer and TV creator exited Nickelodeon in 2018. In 2024, Investigation Discovery released 'Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV,' a five-part documentary series about the toxic environment that was created and disturbing behavior that was permitted on Schneider's children's TV projects during his tenure at Nickelodeon.
In response, Schneider initially posted a YouTube video apologizing for some of his past actions, but later sued the 'Quiet on Set' producers for defamation.
Outside of Monet, it's unclear who else might star in 'Hollywood Arts' should it move forward at Nickelodeon. Cameos from co-stars like Justice, Jogia and others don't seem out of the question, but 'Victorious' fans will have to wait for the time being to learn more about the spinoff and its official cast.

Keshi's ‘Requiem' tour to bring the singer's honeyed vocals, alt-pop sound to S.F.

Keshi might not have picked up a guitar if it wasn't for the Nickelodeon show 'Drake & Josh.' Now, he's an award-winning musician. The singer, whose real name is Casey Thai Luong, was inspired to start playing music thanks to the sitcom about two teenage musicians. He taught himself how to play guitar using online tutorials and his grandfather's Vietnamese music book and eventually started sharing his self-produced music online. He took on the stage name Keshi, his childhood nickname, and began uploading his mellow R&B tracks to SoundCloud in 2017. It wasn't until 2019 that he quit his day job as a nurse at Texas Medical Center and signed with Island Records. Keshi has since released two studio albums, the most recent of which, 'Requiem,' features his signature honeyed vocals and a mix of introspective tunes and upbeat pop tracks. His 'Requiem' world tour is set to stop at Chase Center; ambient pop artist Roy Blair and R&B singer Starfall join as special guests.

Stamps celebrating 'SpongeBob SquarePants' debut in Times Square NEW YORK, Aug. 1, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- The U.S. Postal Service today issued stamps celebrating Nickelodeon's animated children's television show "SpongeBob SquarePants" in New York City's Times Square. Greg Breeding, an art director for USPS who designed the stamps using artwork provided by Nickelodeon, signed autographs for customers purchasing the stamps. Since its debut on July 17, 1999, Nickelodeon's "SpongeBob SquarePants" animated children's show has struck a chord with audiences of all ages. Its colorful characters, zany humor and memorable catchphrases have captured the hearts of both children and adults. The show's unique blend of humor, wit and absurdity has made it one of the most watched cartoons in history. The roots of "SpongeBob SquarePants" can be traced to Stephen Hillenburg, a marine biologist and animator love of marine life whose scientific and artistic passions converged to create the underwater world of Bikini Bottom. His initial idea came in the form of an educational comic book he created while working at a marine sciences center in Southern California. "The Intertidal Zone" featured anthropomorphic sea creatures, including a sponge, living in an underwater town. This concept later served as the foundation for the show's unique setting and characters. "SpongeBob SquarePants" quickly became a hit, leaving an indelible mark on popular culture. In addition to its many catchphrases and memorable moments, the show's merchandise became a staple of the early 2000s. From action figures and clothing to video games and lunchboxes, "SpongeBob SquarePants" merchandise flooded the market, solidifying the show's status as a cultural fixture. In 2004, the show made the leap to the big screen with "The SpongeBob SquarePants Movie," which received critical acclaim, furthering the franchise's success. Over the years, the show continued to evolve while staying true to its core charm. It expanded its universe with the introduction of new characters and explored different themes and storylines, while maintaining its creative energy and resonating with audiences. Movie sequels followed, including "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge Out of Water" (2015) and "The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run" (2020), with a fourth theatrical release, "The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants," slated to hit theaters later this year. The Postal Service's stamp program strives to appeal to a wide audience, both young and old, and is excited to bring these fun stamps to the American public. SpongeBob is widely considered nostalgic for many viewers evoking positive memories and feelings. USPS anticipates these stamps will provide the same positive feeling for senders and receivers alike. The Forever stamps are available at Post Office locations nationwide and online at News about the stamp is being shared on social media using #SpongeBobSquarePantsStamps. Stamp design This pane consists of 16 stamps featuring four designs, two blue and two yellow. The other blue stamp features SpongeBob and Patrick frolicking on the sandy ocean floor. On each blue stamp, the name "SpongeBob" is written in all capitals across the top. The words "Forever" and "USA" appear on the left or right edge of the frame and along the bottom. The two yellow stamps feature closeups of SpongeBob's goofy smiling face. The words "USA Forever" appear along the bottom edge. The selvage includes the title "SpongeBob SquarePants" in cartoonish, yellow-and-white, hand-drawn lettering over a blue background stamped with "Tiki" flowers. ‘Mean' Ellen DeGeneres hit with new bullying claims by Adam Carolla

Adam Carolla is not a fan of Ellen DeGeneres. 'Ellen has always been a mean person,' Carolla, 61, declared during his appearance on 'After Party with Emily Dashinsky' Tuesday. The comedian claimed that when he was on DeGeneres' former eponymous talk show, he witnessed her staff being 'real scared' of her. Advertisement 9 Adam Carolla on 'After Party with Emily Dashinsky.' 'And I knew they were scared, because I was just sitting in my dressing room and their segment producer came in, and he went, 'All right, so we went over all the stuff we're going to talk about.' You know, Christmas vacation or whatever it was. And I go, 'Yeah, yeah,'' Carolla, who was on the show in 2012, recalled. 'And he came back 20 minutes later right before I went out, and he's like, 'OK, but don't talk about beef or meat.'' 'I was like, 'Oh, this guy's scared to death,'' Carolla said. 'This guy's scared.' Carolla alleged that another member of DeGeneres' staff told him he hated working for her. Advertisement 9 Adam Carolla on 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' in 2012. 'I just went, 'How's Ellen?' And he said, 'Worst person, uh, worst person — not worst person I've worked for, worst person I've ever met.'' Carolla added that the writer allegedly used to work for Rosie O'Donnell and said that DeGeneres was a far worse boss than O'Donnell.
