The Dallas Cowboys are known for big plays and strong defense, but something changed last season. As the 2025 NFL season gets closer, fans are still asking what went wrong. One big name from the league has shared a surprising take, and it points to a deeper issue than just lost games or injured players.
Jon Gruden says Micah Parsons cannot lead Dallas Cowboys defense alone
In a recent interview, former NFL head coach Jon Gruden shared his thoughts on the Dallas Cowboys defense. He said that without Dan Quinn, the team lost its identity. Quinn, who coached the defense until early 2024, helped create a strong and disciplined group. Since his departure, Gruden believes that structure is gone.
Gruden made it clear:
'I don't think their defense, other than Parsons, has an identity.'
He also pointed out the absence of veteran DeMarcus Lawrence and the injury of linebacker DeMarvion Overshown.
With both players missing, leadership and energy are lacking. The Cowboys finished the 2024 season ranked 28th in overall defense, a shocking drop for a team that once dominated.
Now, Micah Parsons remains the team's top defensive star. But as Gruden noted, one player can't carry the entire unit. Parsons is talented, but leadership needs to come from more than one voice.
Brian Schottenheimer and Matt Eberflus face pressure to fix the Cowboys defense
After Mike McCarthy was fired as head coach, the Cowboys hired Brian Schottenheimer to take over.

Matt Eberflus stepped in as the new defensive coordinator. Their job is not easy. The team lost several key players, including Dante Fowler Jr. and Dorance Armstrong. The defense is now filled with young names who lack experience.

Gruden's warning comes at a time when the team is trying to rebuild confidence. He stressed that without strong direction, the Cowboys defense will keep struggling. Even with Parsons performing well, there is no clear plan or structure.
As training camp starts, all eyes are on Schottenheimer and Eberflus. Can they create a new identity for the Dallas Cowboys defense in 2025? Or will the team fall into another season of confusion?
Gruden's comments have sparked big conversations in the NFL world and fans are watching closely.

NFL Super Bowl ticket scandal: 100+ players fined for flipping tickets above face value

Credit : Nick Tre. Smith/Icon Sportswire via Getty You'd think the real action happens on the field, turns out, some NFL stars were busy running a whole resale hustle off it. The league just dropped a bombshell, fining more than 100 players and nearly two dozen club employees for flipping their Super Bowl 59 tickets for profit. Yep, that golden ticket turned into a scandal. The league isn't laughing, fans are roasting, and now the internet has a new favorite buzzword: Ticketgate. NFL cracks down on over 100 players and staff for reselling Super Bowl tickets According to AP's Rob Maaddi, this isn't just a minor slap on the wrist. The NFL investigated and found that dozens of players and team employees resold their Super Bowl 59 tickets above face value, violating league policy. Players are hit with fines worth 1.5x the ticket's value, while employees are being charged 2x the face value. What makes it messier? Many sold their tickets to so-called "bundlers" aka third-party brokers who scoop up multiple tickets and resell them at jaw-dropping prices. This goes against everything the NFL stands for (on paper, anyway). The punishment is serious, some may lose Super Bowl access for two whole years If you thought a fine was the worst part, think again. The league announced that those involved in the scandal will lose access to Super Bowl tickets for the next two years unless they're playing in the game. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Anne Hegerty And Her Partner, Who You Will Easily Recognize Sport Pirate Undo So, unless you're on the field come February, no golden ticket for you. The NFL made it clear this isn't just about money. It's about trust, image, and fairness especially when loyal fans are already priced out of attending one of the biggest sporting events on Earth. The NFL has had its share of controversies, but this one hits differently. It's not about violence, PEDs, or cheating, it's about players treating fans like customers in a resale shop. The message from the league is loud and clear: if you mess with the system, you lose the perks. With Super Bowl tickets being one of the most valuable perks in the league, the fact that over 100 people risked it? Wild. What started as a low-key ticket flip has turned into one of the offseason's most unexpected scandals. The NFL isn't just fining players, they're sending a message to the entire league. And if the memes are any sign, "Ticketgate" might go down in NFL history as the most bizarre flex-gone-wrong ever. FAQs: Q: Why are NFL players being fined? A: They violated league policy by reselling Super Bowl 59 tickets above face value. Q: How much are the fines? A: Players pay 1.5x the face value; employees pay 2x. Q: Are they banned from Super Bowl events? A: Yes, offenders can't access Super Bowl tickets for the next two years unless they're in the game. Q: How did the NFL find out? A: Through internal investigations that traced ticket bundles and unauthorized resales. Q: Is the case still developing? A: Yes, more fines or bans could be coming as the investigation continues. Justin Jefferson hamstring injury: Will the Vikings WR start the 2025 NFL season?

Minnesota Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell revealed on Friday that star wide receiver Justin Jefferson has suffered a 'mild' injury to his left hamstring. O'Connell said that Jefferson will miss some time in the pre-season but is expected to be fit and ready for Week 1 of the 2025-26 NFL season. Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Justin Jefferson (18) hydrates during the team's NFL football training camp Wednesday, July 23.(AP) O'Connell told reporters that Jefferson felt some discomfort in his left hamstring during Thursday's practice and has been sent for an MRI scan. He will be evaluated by the franchise's medical team next week, after which a clear timeline for his return to team practice will be set. 'The best thing is we avoided anything serious,' he said. Kevin O'Connell said that he is confident about Jefferson returning before the Minnesota Vikings' Week 1 clash against the Chicago Bears on September 9, 2025, at the Bears where they will be travelling to the Bears' home ground, the Soldier Field. "I see no concerns in regards to Week 1 and have no worry at all that we'll be able to get Justin ready to go for the regular season," O'Conell stated. Jefferson, 26, will be entering his sixth season in the NFL, having joined the Vikings from the LSU Tigers in the 2020 NFL draft. Back in 2023, the four-time All-Pro receiver suffered a serious injury to his right hamstring during a Week 5 clash against the Kansas City Chiefs. It sidelined him for the next seven weeks, resulting in him missing a significant portion of the 2023-24 season. Kevil O'Connell referred to the 2023 injury and pointed out that this time, his left hamstring has been strained. Justin Jefferson was a key part of the Minnesota Vikings' offence, playing all 17 games of the season. He completed 109 receptions, which ranked him as the sixth-best receiver in the league in the 2024-25 season. Additionally, he has 1,533 yards covered, with an average of 14.9 yards per reception, to go with 10 receiving touchdowns.
