Farrel Hegarty recently made her debut on Coronation Street as Lou Michaelis in February 2025.
The actress knows her part has already been compared to legendary battle axes such as Janice Battersby, who was played by Vicky Entwistle.
"Lou is gobby, loud, irrational and it's lovely to be compared to such a big character, like Janice Battersby," she admitted to The Mirror.
"You always dream of landing a part like Lou. So to get it later in life, is overwhelming and I cried. I was so happy."
However, she admitted that her contract on the show was only for a finite about of time, but before she will relish every second.
'I've loved it all and even now, a few months in, it's surreal walking on the cobbles." Farrel gushed.
"So much has happened in such a short time, and we've caused chaos. I've never had so many arguments!"
'To get this role is a dream come true, but I always knew I would one day be leaving.
She added: "Joe [Layton] and I came in together and will leave together. How we do it, I can't say, but it's brilliant being part of the show.
"Watching the other actors is like a masterclass in acting. When I do film my final scenes, I'll probably cry."
Coronation Street's battered and bloodied Craig left unconscious on the cobbles after a vicious attack
Before she landed her role on the long-running ITV soap, the actress admitted that she was planning to move to Australia as life as a jobbing actress is 'hard'.
The star admitted: "Working as a jobbing actress can be hard. There were 50 people in my year at drama school 15 years ago.
"When we recently counted how many were still acting, it was only seven.
"I was about to move to Australia, to move in with my partner and the audition came up."
To get this role is a dream come true, but I always knew I would one day be leaving.

She added: "Either way, my life was about to go in a different direction, as I knew I'd either be going to Australia or joining Coronation Street.
"I knew if I got the role, then it was my time. Having a long-distance relationship is definitely not for the faint-hearted but my partner was never going to be angry that I was going to be in Corrie.
"She knows how much it meant to me and how tough it has been."

Former NRL star Cooper Johns mocks Melbourne Storm halfback Jahrome Hughes for his highbrow alcohol preference - 'laughed in his face'
Cooper Johns and Jahrome Hughes were once teammates at the Melbourne Storm - but that didn't stop the KIIS FM radio identity from mocking the decorated halfback for his highbrow alcohol choice. Speaking on the Johns Family podcast this week, Cooper set the scene from a recent night out in Townsville in far north Queensland. 'The Storm boys headed to (notorious local pub) the Mad Cow after beating the Cowboys,' Johns said. 'Everyone was having a good time, ordering drinks. '(At the moment) Jahrome has a bet going with (teammate) Cameron Munster on who can't drink the longest, I think there is a grand ($1000) on the line. 'There is an exception, Hughesy can have a bottle of red (when on a night out) on occasion. 'He calls himself Red Wine Rome, Jahrome is convinced he plays well if he has a little bit of red wine (in the lead-up and after NRL games.) 'Anyway, we were at the Mad Cow, and Jahrome goes up to the bar and asks the lady: 'what bottles of red do you have? 'She looked at him and said: 'this is the Mad don't have red. 'Then she laughed in his then so did all his teammates.' Johns - who was in Townsville visiting other footy players as well as the Storm squad - added that a red-faced Hughes was 'filthy', and then didn't touch a drop of alcohol for the rest of the night. Meanwhile, Hughes will be a key figure on Saturday afternoon when Newcastle host Melbourne at McDonald Jones Stadium. The Storm will be without Cameron Munster - who attended his dad's funeral this week - while fellow Queensland Origin hero Harry Grant is likely to be rested. NSW Blues prop Stefano Utoikamanu will back up for Craig Bellamy's team.

Eddie Benjamin posts heartfelt tribute to his 'soulmate' Justin Bieber as the young Aussie admits making half of new album Swag: 'My love is so deep'
Australian singer Eddie Benjamin has confirmed his high level of involvement in the creation of Justin Bieber 's new album Swag, which the hitmaker dropped without warning on Thursday night. The Sydney-born singer, 23, thanked his 'best friend' in a heartfelt post made to Instagram, in which he cites his involvement in 11 out of the 21 songs. 'Made a album with my bestie. My love for this being is so deep,' Eddie said as he shared several recent paparazzi photos of the pair together in a carousel of behind-the-scenes footage from the making of Swag. The post comes one month afte r Eddie and Justin documented their mountain getaway with a group of a male friends to make the album. This would seem to confirm the new album was only made in June, with Bieber, 31, delivering the audio so late that none of the writers are named or credited. Instead of following the usual practice, global streamers were not informed of vital information regarding the album in advance, with sources revealing that it was delivered 'late' and 'chaotically' to working partners. All streaming platforms including Spotify, Apple Music, and YouTube, are yet to have the all-important credits which explain who has worked on each song. 'Justin delivered the audio for his new album really late, as in only a few hours before it came out, hence why there are no credits on the songs and so far, no one knows who did what,' an inside source said. 'This isn't the normal process when releasing a new album, everything was delivered so late to partners and many within the industry feel it has been randomly rushed out.' 'So grateful to lean on you as a friend,' Eddie continued in his post. 'The fact we get to make music is a cherry on top. You teach me so much and are a true friend. 'This experience has been my favourite musical experience I've had making some soulmates along the way way. The swag is beyond real. Always has been Swag.' Eddie, who has written and produced songs for Bieber as well as Meghan Trainor, Shawn Mendes, and Earth, Wind & Fire, then listed 11 tracks from Swag. Eddie, who has written and produced songs for Bieber as well as Meghan Trainor, Shawn Mendes, and Earth, Wind & Fire, then listed 11 out of 21 tracks on Swag as he said: 'Made an album with my bestie' Instead of following the usual practice, global streamers were not informed of vital information regarding the album, with sources revealing that it was delivered 'late' and 'chaotically' 'Swag ft me [and] Cash Kobain,' he concluded the post. On his Stories, Eddie shared a screenshot of the track Swag with his name in the vocal credits. 'Love singing with you my brother,' he added. He also shared a clip of the song Yukon, which a friend had posted with the caption: 'The Eddie Benjamin effect.' Swag marks Bieber's follow-up to 2021's Justice, which spawned hits like Hold On, Peaches, and Lonely, and led to a world tour that was cut short in 2022 after Bieber announced he was stepping back to prioritise his health. Since then, the singer has made headlines for everything but music — welcoming his first child, Jack Blues Bieber, with wife Hailey in August 2024, while also facing mounting speculation over his mental health, cryptic online behaviour, and rumoured tensions in his marriage. And while fans were eager for new material, early reviews suggest Bieber's time away didn't lead to a triumphant return—with one critic even calling the album 'a cry for help.' However, we won't have to wait another three years for Justin's next album, as it's believed he could be releasing a second body of work within the next two weeks. Eddie has increasingly been spotted out in public with Justin in recent months, including giving him a cuddle as they left the Golden Globes after-party at Chateau Marmont together in January. Hailey, his wife, did not attend the event. Eddie was previously in a relationship with American actress and dancer Maddie Ziegler between 2020 and 2023 and he has also been romantically linked to Willow Smith As a teenager, Eddie performed at jazz clubs around Bondi, as one third of a Blues trio he formed with two classmates from Rose Bay Secondary. In 2023, he was named Breakthrough Musician of the Year by GQ Australia and was spotted leaving the awards show arm-in-arm with another A-list collaborator, Willow Smith. 'I had a pretty cute time working with him,' Willow said. The pair were then seen publicly displaying affection on Bronte Beach. More heartache for Jonathan LaPagila as he loses ANOTHER job after shock Survivor sacking
Less than a week after his shock exit from Australian Survivor, popular host Jonathan LaPaglia has been dealt another major blow. Top Gear Australia is thought to have been quietly dropped from Paramount+'s production slate, leaving the popular host without a local series to host. Daily Mail Australia can exclusively reveal that the big-budget reboot will not return in 2025 or 2026 for its slated second season. The 2024 series, starring LaPagila, marked the third attempt to relaunch the iconic British motoring format locally, after two false starts by SBS and Nine. It has now been shelved indefinitely by Network 10. LaPagila steered the latest iteration of the wildly successful Top Gear franchise, alongside Amazing Race Australia host Beau Ryan, and YouTube series Car Mods co-host Blair 'Moog' Joscelyne, who boasts 3.8 million followers. The eight-part series, co-produced by BBC Studios Australia, premiered in May 2024 on Paramount+ and is one of the streamer's most-watched local originals. 'It hasn't been officially axed,' a source close to the production tells Daily Mail, 'but it's absolutely not coming back — at least not with this line-up.' It follows a turbulent few weeks for LaPaglia, who was also dropped as host of Australian Survivor, a role he held since the show's 2016 reboot. News of his axing by email sparked fierce backlash online, with many fans declaring Survivor 'unwatchable' without him. According to industry insiders, Network Ten and streaming partner Paramount+ are undertaking a broad overhaul of their reality TV offerings, with a major shift towards younger, more diverse presenters. 'There's been a sweep of changes behind the scenes,' an executive source tells Daily Mail. 'Several long-standing hosts, not just JLP, have been quietly told they're not part of the future.' While official announcements are expected at the network's Upfronts event in September, sources say decisions have already been made regarding several key on-air personalities. 'The direction now is clear: younger talent, more energy, and fresh faces. It's not personal, it's branding,' the source added. In dozens of interviews last year, LaPagila and his co-hosts waxed lyrical about their 'chemistry' and 'mateship' being the key to revitalising Top Gear. However, the trio of self-confessed fanboys, and even Network 10/Paramount+ Australia executive producer Ciaran Flannery, freely admitted their nerves about picking up the seemingly poisoned TV chalice. 'The original version was so good, it was so well done,' LaPagila told Mumbrella. 'It's not like we're taking a crappy version and aiming to make a better version, we're starting with something that was already really good. 'So if I'm perfectly honest, I did feel the pressure and the weight of that, because I know those comparisons are going to be inevitable. So that did give me pause initially – as it does hinge on the relationship between the three of us.' The most recent update on season two was posted eight months ago when the series went free-to-air on Channel 10, sparking excited chatter from the hosts Despite big expectations, Top Gear Australia's 2024 revival failed to rev up a lasting impression. While critics praised the high production value, fans online described the series as 'underwhelming' and 'lacking spark'. 'A new series won't air in 2025,' one Ten insider tells Daily Mail, 'but we continue to work with BBC Studios on what a new series might look like.' Speaking to Mediaweek last year, network EP Flannery said that Paramount+ would never make Top Gear again if it wasn't able to match the production value of the show's best international versions. 'It's got to be up there, and the reality is the scale that Paramount+ gives us allows us to go global,' he said. 'Paramount+ delivered a production value that arguably a local version might not quite have matched.' The show also struggled to generate the buzz of its original 2008 version or the more chaotic 2011 reboot. Ratings were reportedly modest and social media engagement flatlined after the season premiere. 'It looked great, but felt like it was trying too hard to replicate the UK version,' one fan surmised on Reddit. 'There was no reason to bring it back.' The most recent update on Top Gear's future came eight months ago, in a joint Instagram post made by Beau Ryan and LaPagila to announce season one would go free-to-air on Ten. 'Myself, Jonathan, and Blair embarked on the adventure of a lifetime. Supercars, super boats, muscle cars, EVs, hatchbacks, trucks, tanks, , tractors, caravans, you name it, we sent it,' Beau wrote. 'There were tears, fires, nudity, laughter and plenty of hugs. Obviously in that order. After being such a huge success on Paramount+ the guys at 10 have made the choice to air it on Channel 10 and we couldn't be more excited.' Then crickets. While neither Network Ten nor Paramount+ have confirmed LaPaglia's future with the network, insiders say the writing is on the wall. 'He hasn't done anything wrong,' said one inside source. 'But he's part of an era that Ten is trying to move past.'
