"Rockstar is controlled by no one, including their publisher": Ex-Blizzard boss says Borderlands 4 "doesn't matter" in response to fans trying to narrow the GTA 6 release window down
People have been speculating about when Grand Theft Auto 6 will arrive this year, and Borderlands 4's September launch date has led some to believe we've narrowed the window down, as it likely won't clash with another game from the same publisher. Mike Ybarra, ex-Blizzard president, says this doesn't matter.
It's been reported that publishers are waiting for Rockstar to announce when GTA 6 will launch before committing to their own games' release dates. This is because no one wants to compete with it. We only have so much money, we can't buy every game. If GTA 6 really is $100, people might not be able to buy another game for a while. So, that's the worry everyone else has, but Rockstar likely isn't phased by other games.
"GTA 6 is the king," Ybarra tweets. "They don't care who announces what. Everyone will move their release out of the way whenever they announce the ship date for GTA 6. It is really the only game that has the power to do this today."
One commenter replies that "it's advantageous for the publisher of both Borderlands 4 and GTA to space it out," Ybarra's response is definitive. "Borderlands 4 doesn't matter. Rockstar is controlled by no one, including their publisher."
Take-Two publishes both GTA and Borderlands, so it wouldn't make any sense for the company to have two of its big games competing for attention in the same month, or even the same quarter, really.
But, as Ybarra says, Rockstar is controlled by no one. GTA Online is an absolute money printing machine, so I wouldn't be surprised if it could do whatever it wanted without consequence.
All this is to say, don't take news of Borderland 4's launch date as a confirmation GTA 6 won't launch around the same time. We won't know when GTA 6 is coming until Rockstar tells us, and even then, it could change its mind if it decides the game needs more time in the oven, or if it wants to bring the release forward.

It's actually refreshing to watch a thriller that doesn't rely on the supernatural. Instead, it leans into the claustrophobia of urban living. Thin walls, cramped spaces, and suffocating silence all become weapons in a slow-burning psychological war. The movie's real strength lies in turning all-too-familiar frustrations, like noisy neighbors, financial strain, and apartment life stress, into a gripping exploration of mental unraveling and social isolation. What is 'Wall to Wall' about? 'Wall to Wall' follows Woo-sung (Kang Ha-neul), a diligent office worker who finally achieves his dream of buying a modest apartment in a bustling South Korean city. To afford it, he drains his savings, takes on loans, and even sells his family's garlic farm. But the joy of homeownership quickly fades as Woo-sung becomes tormented by mysterious, incessant noises from his neighbors above and below. Desperate to find peace, Woo-sung allies with his upstairs neighbor Jin-ho (Seo Hyun-woo), while the building's apartment representative, Eun-hwa (Yeom Hye-ran), tries to keep the fragile community calm. As the noise worsens, the relationships between neighbors unravel, revealing hidden fears and suspicions. 'Wall to Wall' is more than just the annoyance of noisy neighbors You wouldn't be wrong in assuming that 'Wall to Wall' is all about the experience of living with disrespectful neighbors, based on the premise alone. Even though the central idea is about a man being tormented by loud noises every night, this thriller aims to shed light on real-world issues in South Korea, particularly around housing and mental health. At its core is the claustrophobia of cramped apartment living, a reality for much of the country's population, where 84-square-meter units are the norm and housing costs continue to soar. Hence why the movie is actually called '84 Square Meters' in its native country. Woo-sung is desperate enough to use all of his savings, and even sell his mother's farm to get an apartment. 'Wall to Wall' zeroes in on the mental toll of inter-floor noise, a surprisingly common source of tension in Korean apartment blocks. As Woo-sung's dream of homeownership begins to fall apart, the story also shows the crushing financial pressures tied to property ownership and the illusion of upward mobility. Of course, this type of psychological warfare wouldn't be nearly as effective without Ha-neul's incredible performance. Known for playing Kang Dae-ho in 'Squid Game,' I already expected him to bring a commanding presence to this thriller, and he absolutely delivers. In every scene, you can see his frustration building without the need for much dialogue. Director Kim Tae-joon also knows exactly how to portray that kind of psychological torment. Most of the movie is set in darkness, since Woo-sung refuses to turn on the lights to save on electricity. The same goes for water as dishes pile up, empty bottles clutter the floor, and he even reuses the same bathwater for days. He's constantly sweating and sleeping on the hard floor, with all of it tied to his financial struggles. The first half of 'Wall to Wall' is especially effective at building tension. I found myself genuinely frustrated on Woo-sung's behalf once the noise started and neighbors began randomly blaming him. It's a tense, well-executed setup, and one that kept me watching, if only to figure out what was really going on inside that apartment complex. Unfortunately, the second half of the movie has less impact. There are plenty of twists thrown in to keep things engaging, and they're definitely compelling, but this claustrophobic thriller strays a bit too far from what makes it … well, claustrophobic. Director Tae-joon shifts into action territory, and while those scenes add intensity, they feel somewhat out of place. It's understandable why the movie leans into action in the third act (since many viewers may prefer that over the slow-burn unraveling of Woo-sung's mental state), but I actually found that quieter tension far more effective. I would've preferred the movie to stay focused on Woo-sung's spiraling paranoia and the way the noises became increasingly unbearable. That said, the ending is undeniably wild, and I'm sure many viewers will be surprised by how things unfold. I just wish it had a more satisfying conclusion and stuck to one genre. As it stands, it falls into the same trap as many modern thrillers: doing too much with a concept that was already strong on its own. It's not a perfect psychological thriller, but it adds a fresh layer by focusing on a fear that feels incredibly real, including what happens when your home no longer feels safe. The performances, especially from Ha-neul, carry much of the emotional weight, and the movie's cinematography does a great job making the apartment space feel both intimate and threatening. While the final act may not stick the landing for everyone, the journey there is gripping enough to make it a compelling watch. Travis Scott Says Kanye West Gave Permission to Use Demo in Motion to Dismiss ‘Telekinesis' Suit
Travis Scott, SZA, and Future have filed a motion to dismiss a copyright case over their song 'Telekinesis,' claiming the song they are accused of ripping off was actually given to them, with permission, by Kanye West. On Monday, June 14, lawyers for the three artists filed a motion to dismiss the lawsuit brought by gospel artist Victory Boyd. Boyd alleged back in January that Scott, SZA, and Future 'intentionally and willfully copied' her 2019 song 'Like the Way It Sounds' without her permission. But at no point, Boyd claimed, did she sign off on this final version of the song. In their motion to dismiss, however, lawyers for the trio claim they did not need Boyd's permission because they already had it from West, who allegedly created the chords, beat, and melody for 'Like the Way It Sounds.' The motion proclaims that the defendants' 'use, if any, of the LTWIS work was duly authorized by Mr. West, as a joint author of the LTWIS, having the right and authority to authorize such use.' Furthermore, the motion casts doubt on the suit's validity due to Boyd's efforts to file a copyright registration for 'Like the Way It Sounds' with the U.S. Copyright Office. They claim that when Boyd first filed for a registration in 2023, she made 'knowing misstatements' claiming to be the 'sole author and copyright owner' of the song, despite West's contributions. This, the motion argues, 'renders the first copyright registration invalid.' Furthermore, the motion alleges that Boyd tried to fix this issue in June and register just the song's lyrics as a standalone work, like a poem. But, the lawyers argue, Boyd's own amended complaint 'indicates that the lyrics were intended to be part of a song that Boyd collaborated with Mr. West to create.' They add: 'As a matter of law, lyrics cannot be copyrighted as a standalone work when created in tandem with, or as part of, an inseparable musical composition.' In a statement shared with Rolling Stone, Boyd's lawyer, Keith White, called the motion 'an attempt to dismiss straight forward copyright and accounting claims as a delay tactic,' adding: 'We will file opposition papers within the next two weeks, and we fully expect Travis Scott's motion to be summarily denied in short order.' Here's what I'm thinking after processing all the new footage (which I've shared again, for convenience). - This final fight's going to be bigger than ever. With the military presence on site and all those scenes of our gang tooled up and ready for battle, this next season feels way more dangerous. - Max's fate hangs in the balance - Max has already been through the wringer in "Stranger Things" so far, and it looks like that's not about to change. Her last encounter with Vecna left her with broken bones, blinded, and in a coma, and now Lucas is trying to smuggle her out of a facility while being pursued by Demodogs in a scene that screams that "Jurassic Park" scene to me. Can they bring her back? - Vecna looks more powerful than ever... but so does Eleven. Sure, Jamie Campbell Bower's big bad looks even more menacing in the trailer's final moments, but Eleven's gotten stronger, too: she can even fly now. This power creep has me hyped for the final face-off, for sure. And finally, a prediction: with all these shocked and panicked faces and all the danger on display, I'm expecting tragedy to strike and potentially to lose more than one of our major party members. And with that, we can look forward to the show's release (and maybe more info!) later this year. It looks like one hell of a send-off. 'Stranger Things' isn't technically over after season 5 Even though season 5 signals the end of 'Stranger Things' as we know it, we're not entirely leaving Hawkins, Indiana behind. How? Well, as Tudum puts it, 'Saturday morning cartoons are getting turned Upside Down.' Yes, we're getting a 'Stranger Things' animated series at Netflix, and the title was revealed back in April 2025: 'Stranger Things: Tales From '85.' We've always dreamed of an animated Stranger Things in the vein of the Saturday morning cartoons that we grew up loving, and to see this dream realized has been absolutely thrilling," the Duffer Brothers told Tudum. When is 'Stranger Things' season 5 premiering? Mark your calendars: This holiday season, Netflix is serving Demogorgons with the turkey. 'Stranger Things 5' is dropping in three parts, all on or close to big holidays later this year. Volume 1 arrives November 26 (the day before Thanksgiving) with four episodes.
