Michigan State football recruiting: DE Cory House the Spartans' 10th commit for 2026 class
The Spartans picked up a commitment Tuesday, June 10, from three-star high school prospect Cory House. The defensive end from Memphis, Tennessee, picked MSU over nearly 30 offers, including Indiana, Illinois, Iowa, Maryland and other power-conference programs.
Whitehaven’s Cory House (5) puts his finger to his lips to quiet his sideline as referees decide whether it is Central or Whitehaven’s ball after a Central receiver possibly touched a Whitehaven punt that was recovered by a Whitehaven player during the game between Memphis Central High School and Whitehaven High School at the Whitehaven Classic in Memphis, Tenn., on Saturday, August 19, 2023. Whitehaven defeated Central 40-13.
The 6-foot-5, 240-pound House is rated as the nation's No. 77 edge rusher and No. 832 player overall according to 247Sports.com's composite rankings. He is the Spartans' 10th pledge for 2026 and sixth on the defensive side of the ball after MSU received commitments over the weekend from cornerback Kelsey 'KJ' Deriso, defensive lineman Christopher Knauls, Jr., and safety Eliyjah Caldwell-Henry.

House had 50 tackles, including 15 for a loss and five sacks, last season for Whitehaven High while forcing two fumbles and deflecting three passes according to the (Memphis) Commercial Appeal. He is the Spartans' first edge rush commit for 2026.

Spartans left off preseason US LBM Coaches Poll
Not a single coach has Michigan State football in their preseason top 25. The official preseason US LBM Coaches Poll was released on Monday, with Michigan State failing to receive a single vote in the poll. Michigan State enters this upcoming season as a projected bottom half team in the Big Ten so it should come as no surprise that the Spartans didn't receive any votes in the preseason poll. Michigan State is looking to snap a three-year bowl drought, with the Spartans being the only Big Ten team to fail to reach the postseason in the last three seasons. Head coach Jonathan Smith is entering his second year on the job, leading the Spartans to a 5-7 record during his first season in East Lansing, Mich. The Spartans will open the 2025 season on August 29 against Western Michigan in a home matchup from Spartan Stadium. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET and will be televised on FS1. Popular college football podcast picks Spartans to exceed expectations in 2025
It's predictions season, and one popular college football podcast likes Michigan State to exceed expectations in 2025. Michigan State comes into this season looking to snap a three-year bowl drought, with the Spartans again pegged to be right around the bowl eligibility cutline. But for one popular college football podcast, Michigan State will easily surpass the six win threshold in 2025. The Undergrad CFB podcast released their game-by-game predictions for Michigan State next season and have the Spartans finishing 8-4 overall and 5-4 in Big Ten play. The popular podcast has the Spartans picking up notable wins over Boston College, UCLA, Indiana, Michigan and Iowa this season. I personally have some similar game-by-game predictions that I'll be releasing in the coming weeks ahead of the season. So this prediction from The Undergrad CFB account is not far off from my personal opinion, but definitely is higher on the Spartans than most of the national or regional media.
